Josh is not a threat to Brendan's lead unless Brendan gets a flat or mechanic and is shut out of this weekend's sprint. If such a thing happens then it is more likely that Pena would be the one taking the jersey. Given that the leads are slim for both jerseys it is important that our bikes be in good working order with good tires. Avoiding crashes would also help.

Same here. Rewatching it I realized when I needed to follow Josh...although now that I think back, I believe that right before he jumped I grabbed the brakes because the rider on my right started to veer towards me. 1) Lead out by your teammates to the 200 (need to coordinate this — if your teammates are spent you need to change plan). Be on the wheel of your biggest threat.

Viewing the vid, I realize that Pena's team (associated team?), Chelsea Bikes/Montecci, was at the front (and attacking) fairly often as well. Perception is one thing, but in reality all that chasing and pacing Kissena did at the front wasn't as much as I thought but it sure shredded my legs.
If the race goes back to the Park we should have a better shot since the field isn't as aggressive. If back at FBF it'll be harder but we'll have learned from last week and hopefully deliver Brendan (and Patrick) to the line in a better position.

At this stage if you have only two riders who have enough points to steal the jersey, Brendan just needs to be near/marking those guys. Any breaks without them would work in your favor.

As an FYI - there will be primes for the P-3 & 4 fields. A canister of OSMO active hydration and acute recovery for the winner of each. Charlie will decide if it is the first or second intermediate sprint

Actually, it's guaranteed to get dangerous out there. I just rode through there tonight after Floyd. The little s-curve they put in right before the drag to the old finish could be really dicey, especially if guys come in there all slow and argy-bargy like... or fast and argy-bargy like... really, I guess just argy-bargy like. And we all know how guys like to get all argy-bargy like in the park, don't we Cat 4's?
Anywho, look out for that spot. It's wide, freshly paved, and will no doubt throw a wrinkle into the race... and wrench if Charlie moves the finish back to the original spot.

This morning it looked like it was all nicely paved, they have started to paint the lanes, and they were emptying the water dividers in the middle of the road -- of course, I have no insight into what else they might need to do, but if they moved the dividers, the race could probably carry on.
---- whenever is ready, I don't really find that zone specially dangerous, the curb is taller, but the road seems wider than before and they barely changed it to a super soft s.

Here we go guys, one last roll call and Cat 4 L&C cup plan for this year…
The pre-registered list includes: Ian, David, Bruce, Philip, Niall, Brendan, myself and… making his first PP appearance in 4 years: Eloy! He is making his comeback just in time for cross season.
If anyone else is planning on jumping in tomorrows race, please let us know. Forecast calls for rain, but this is the last race of the series and it would be great to (hopefully) celebrate two jerseys with as many of the teammates who have contributed all season as possible.
The team strategy has not changed much, but we need to focus on points for the two jerseys:
- The yellow jersey competition should focus on marking Pena and leading out Brendan for the finish.
- It is important that we have some fresh (and strong) legs to help lead Brendan out over the hill and towards the finish on the final lap. Start moving up on the final downhill and temple, etc., but don’t start leading out until sometime after the classic finish line, perhaps at the base of the hill.
- Of course, we need to watch Pena and his teammates in case they try to get him into a break. We do not need to waste energy chasing breaks from anyone other than Pena or Shoy. If you get into a break - fantastic, let’s just not burn legs closing down moves by racers who aren’t going for the jerseys.
- If a strong looking break does form then it would be wise for Brendan or I to bridge. If either or both of us go up the road, chances are the pack will chase so the team will need to be prepared to block.
- I will need a couple of strong guys to help with the KOM jersey lead out. I don’t need to beat Shoy to keep the jersey, but if I lose 3 or more points the jersey is his. He usually hangs on to our lead out train and jumps from afar with his strong kick.
- If he is in front of me, I will stick to his wheel and either jump before he does or jump with him. Ideally we should let him eat wind before he jumps by not letting him into the train. Last time he got upset that Brendan bumped handlebars with him. Be careful, we don’t want to make it easy for him (e.g. to pass on the inside) but neither do we want to turn it into a dangerous situation.
- If he is behind me, he will try to jump from afar…. unless, we keep the pace really high and my sweeper sits up forcing him to come around (in the wind) to get up to me. If so, I will try to yell at the lead out to keep the pace high.
I am going to suggest that Niall, David and Brendan help with the first KOM then save themselves for the finish. Everyone who has anything left (including myself) should try to help with the lead out for the finish.
Ian, Bruce and Philip can help with the second KOM. Eloy can help wherever he feels his fitness allows - sweeper may be a good role if he is easing back into races.
Oh, and don't forget that we need help with registration...
