L&C Cup

I'm concerned.  I made a comment about Yacks dropping me and he hasn't firebombed the thread with epic trash talk.  Something isn't right...
Sometimes Yacks's analogue record-player brain gets caught in a rut and he just rocks back and forth repeating stuff like "... astic bikes ... they're all just riding plastic bikes ... they're all just riding plastic bikes ... they're all just riding pl ..."

Just kick him. He'll skip out of it.
Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow.
Hey guys, does any of you have a jersey or even just a vest of Kissena I can borrow for tomorrow morning at the race? I have my old team gears but just for being recognizable to the rest of you... I wear XS. If no, no problem at all, just wondering.
Thanks a lot and see you tomorrow!
I have a medium jersey for you if you want to. I'll be doing registration so look out for me.
PS I have a white beard.
Thanks Thierry, I will see you there then!

Since when?!?

Winter blues did a number on me
You're working registration?
Thierry, get that free race, hit your lap button and drill the hell out of the first 20 minutes, staying on the front, then pull out of the race.  You'll pick the pace up, help drop those out of shape, and get a new FTP number to work with on the road!

Plus. . . Santa Racer.
Looking forward to some spirited racing in the 4s tomorrow. I don't have high expectations for myself as I am coming back for injury but I know that Bruce might fancy a KOM jersey and Sean has the potential to get yellow jersey points. Not sure about anyone else and their goals.

I encourage teammates to communicate and help each other as the race unfolds. Stay close enough to the front and talk to each other enough so we can coordinate efforts (e.g., lead out, chase, block).

It it is unlikely that we will see a successful break....however, if something goes up the road with DJ and Foundation riders in it we HAVE to be represented in that break. Keep an eye on who goes up the road.

Thanks Bruce, it's a very tempting proposition but I'm currently way out of shape for even pulling for 20 minutes at tempo/threshold. However I plan to race mid May early June with rain deer horns attached to my helmet.
I caught the pinch flat bug this morning, guess I didn't really know what it was like to race in prospect until today

Results Bro's? When did the 4 race catch the break?

Go tubeless! I rammed so many potholes today!

My wheels are tubeless ready...
I also caught a flat. 8th lap bottom of downhill. Just a stupid moment of inattention while trying to shepherd Bruce to the front for the second KOM lap.

We caught the break with 3 to go (I think...). Seemed like a reasonably fast race though my Garmin says we only averaged 25.1mph. Early season fast I guess though the 45+ race I did at Branchbrook a couple weeks ago was over 26mph.

The 123s must have been crawling because we almost caught them.

Seems like probably no L&C race next weekend (or PP training for a couple weeks) due to the repaving (a trade I'm willing to make).
Sorry folks...Yacks is in need of maintenance...I've got some weird gastro stuff going on...Going to try and get to a chiropractor and my primary care physician this week to see what's up..I've had a bad stomach for like 2 weeks now...Not racing till I get this sorted...woke up at 5:00 am yesterday ready to race Branchbrook but could not get out of bed.  Back soon

A fun race in the 4s today, with the usual successes, missed opportunities and antics.
A break got away early and stayed off the front for about 6 laps.  5 or 6 guys, so there was nothing to compete for in green or dots the first time around.

Everyone did a great job staying up front, through fitness and experience, and everyone looked good, even though it's not even April yet - Peaks Training I'm Sure.

Sean, I was sorry to see you pull out with the flat.

On one lap, at the bottom of the downhill, Jim came alongside and asked if I wanted a tow up front.  Hells ya!  I'd been having trouble moving up (others were getting around me by riding right on the white jogger's line) and when I got on Jim's wheel, I was magically transported to the front of the race.  Jim made it look too easy and I forgot to watch how he did it.

On the next KOM lap, once we had caught the break, once again Jim came up to tow me to the front, looking for points for the dots.  He started on the downhill, carving his way along the left, me hot on his wheel, a pothole, gravel, hand up.  He got a flat.  Damn.  I was too far back to contest, let alone see the sprint up the hill.  Thanks, Jim for that - it's great to have solid teamwork.  That inspired me.

I tried moving up on the left a couple of times after the downhill but others have figured out that's a good place to be so it got crowded.  On the right, on other laps, I was able to gain position but had to eat a lot of wind.  At one point, I got on the front just as a guy sprinted out.  Another jumped, so I went with them, but fitness is not there, we dangled and it was done.

With one to go, just at the top of the downhill, screams and yells - a casual cyclist in a big brown coat, older man, riding in the bike lane with not a care in the world.  I could hear him yelling at people.  I followed a guy around to the left, skirting the jogger's lane - nowhere else to go.  Others made a hole on the right.  I'm always intrigued by this New York attitude which could potentially get people hurt.  Wish I could harness that dumb-ass energy to power houses and electrical lines.

Things got a bit sketchy on that last lap, as they do, riders bumping when space got tight, but I didn't see any mishaps and it ended with a bunch sprint.

I need to work on moving up to the front early and holding that position.
Great racing with you guys today.

That's a bummer. Heal up quick!!!
Love to read about that teamwork Bruce & Jim; outstanding.

JP & Marc have the golden touch for moving up; the shorthand is that when the road turns there is almost always room on the outside to slingshot up.

Love that bar tape.
It's obvious looking at that picture where people VO2 max stand.
I believe mine is a VO.00002

We're doing this again this Sunday!

Who's in?

I am planning on it.
I'm away this weekend. Good luck to you all. Enjoy the newly paved park loop
I'll be there.

Regarding the new pavement, I actually found it a bit disconcerting for the first few laps on Saturday. I used to know exactly what line I preferred, which side of the road I wanted to be on, what I wanted to avoid. I felt like a small bit of my experience had been nullified or part of my memory had been erased. Went away by the middle of the race but it was a curious feeling.
i registered for the 5s
I'm also registered for the 5s. We should get together on Saturday in PP or for the Meet Kissena Ride...
duh.
