Next L&C cup race is cancelled.
:(
WTF.
why?
the Harlem crit and a CRCA race are on the same day. Seems silly to hold 3 bike races on the same day. Signup and race Harlem if you can.
I think I'll pass on the 5 lap Cat 5 ... next year prob.
Hey y'all I'm going to finally start racing - making this Sat my first. Don't have team kit yet though, anyone willing to lend (or sell!) me a size M jersey? Any sage words of wisdom for a neophyte cat 5?

Ben, I can loan you a Medium jersey for the race on Saturday!
Sweet, training in the park tomorrow AM? I could grab it then if so
If I want to volunteer at an L&C Cup and then race for free, is it advisable to pre-register in order to save my spot, and then seek a refund? Or are volunteers all guaranteed to race their field?
Looking to do this race on Saturday.

Any other 1/2/3's up for it?

returning from block island late friday....if I feel frisky I'll come...but don't want to pre reg
@MaxThorn
this time of year it is good to pre-reg because lots of people will sign up for the race. Charlie will refund you for the race if you volunteer and show up, for everything but the BikeReg fee of $3 or whatever it is these days.

I'm not feeling great.  On a second round of antibiotics to knock off strep for good.  But Love to rumble.  And with teammates, it's merrier.

Prospect, it's been a while.

I'll be racing the category 4s.

I am in too. See you Saturday AM!
Assuming the bike is ready, I'll be there too - see you in the fives @BenFinoRadin
Some n00b questions – how early do you recommend showing up? Do they provide pins or should I bring my own?

I'll be listening to this the morning of ;)

Please please please mount one of those bluetooth speakers on your bars and play Big Rings on repeat throughout the race.

I'd join y'all in the 5s but I'm racing Capital Region up in Albany. See you at the next L&C. Good luck.

For a 6am start, I'd recommend getting there at 5:30 to grab your number.  Pins are provided.  Gives you time to pin up your jersey, get a warm up lap around the park and one final portopotty pit stop (if needed).
Got dropped, came in 29th (of 35), but daaaaaaaamn that was fun. Thanks Riley for looking out for me  :#

See if you can tell where I got dropped:

A little rainy before the start.  Haven't raced in awhile...felt like 1st race of the year.  The wind was a factor.  If you were lakeside on the downhill you were getting pushed around.  Midrace a break of 2 went for awhile.  A Foundation guy must have gotten hooked cause I saw his bike go flying up in the air followed by the rider going up and then, inevitably crashing to the tarmac = ouch babe!    After the start finish with 2 to go there was a weird pregnant pause that was met by a crafty attack...JP made that move and they quickly put in some time on the downhill.  I though the race was over...but on the hill there was a huge effort put in (Yacks almost got gapped...but my new spinny pedaling style kept me in the race).  The move was caught and the last lap was uneventful...paced on the hill and just tried to stay with the field when they went...think I finished around 20th.  I could have spit the bit on the climb but I didn't...cuz GOONIES NEVER QUIT!!!! oh and 322 watt average

Good to see the Yacks back.  Hoping for a big yack attack.  If not this week, then another.

Finished my latest round of antibiotics yesterday.  Also put in a pretty good 1m effort among my openers.  I didn't expect to have lots of sustain, but I figured I had enough to follow a few attacks.

with both me and Yack questioning our form, conservative riding was probably on order.  The field seemed smaller than normal, and initially a bit slower than typical for this time of year.

Lots of attacks, but few seemed really committed to the idea making the attacks stick.  Perlberg was pretty energetic and was quite active.  Rapha, even with four riders, was very active as well.  Two of their guys, Seaton and McGee were showing good form.  And the other two seemed happy to support them.  Foundation had four as well, but only two, Alejandro and JC Polanco, were the kind to attack.  Health Warrior had at least four as well.  The Jordan squad had more, but they were largely focused on protecting series leader Stalin Quiterio.

The biggest problem was getting in a move of three, four, or five riders.  Whenever I was active, it seemed that one of the three, two of the four and two of the five. three of six, either didn't want to or couldn't contribute.

I wanted to be in a move with Perlberg, a Rapha, a Foundation, and I figured that would be enough.  I got Perlberg and a Rapha a few times, but the extra riders were deadweight and killed the moves.

I did manage to get second in the first points sprint, but it was merely a springboard to attacking.  The attack didn't go well for me.  Maybe I should have sprinted for the points.

going into the second points sprint, there were three up the road: Perlberg, Madera, and a Rapha.  I tried to get a split on the flats by the temple.  Didn't look good at first, but I rode a hard tempo and when I pulled over, I had three Foundations on my wheel.

Only they didn't know how to ride together.  One guy was ragged and blowing up.  Then Polanco couldn't go hard enough to move Alejandro up to to the break.  My chances of getting up there evaporated as their third and second guy took turns accidentally gapping me when they blew.  Alejandro caught, won the second sprint.

But it set up the potentially winning move.  It started a bit after the sprint, formed on the downhill and reformed after.  It was big, like 10 riders, and half didn't really want to commit.  I didn't think I should take the pace up the hill, but as others were stalling and suffering, I figured a high-cadence effort would be hard enough and still leave me with some juice over the top.

It did.  But the field caught shortly thereafter.

The last lap felt slow.  My calves were super-tight and I was worried about going too hard too soon.  I ended up conserving myself out of a place.

The winning effort went on the hill, but it seemed more of an accident than anything else.  Tony Taylor seemed to be setting up his teammate Stalin, but he ended up getting a gap with others.  Stalin ended up third.
