L&C Cup

ashley,

In the past (and I'm assuming it will work this way again) we registered for the L&C cup races at full price to reserve a spot (they fill up). On race day when you pick up your number you'll be given an envelope with some cash. Last year I think the races were $32 full price and you got $17 back at the start.

It's like placing just for being Kissena.

Also, Charlie is often looking for folks to help with registration. Get there a bit early and help out and you race for free. He'll usually send out a message the night before if he needs folks.

4/20 bro right on!

No car, but I should have a little time to help out with this as well.
Thanks to all who have offered to help. I spoke today with Al from Ride and next week in the days before the event we'll get back to you about some duties. Mainly what we'll need, it sounds like, is some guys to help Ride employees set up at around 7, some guys to help man the grill throughout, and then some cleanup after.
I'll text Al, but I hereby submit myself as GRILLMASTER for part of the night. Al knows my skills.
^lol whitey - beat me to it^
I land at 9pm Friday from a biz trip...part of me is considering getting a cab straight there and not going home till later.
If I am around I will help with cleanup type stuff.

What time do we think this will run until ?
L&C Cup starts this weekend. FYI, almost every race sells out. If you are a Kissena, register online and you'll get your discount in a nice little cash envelope at registration.

Race dates:

April 21
April 28
May 12
June 16
June 24
July 21
Aug 4
August 12.

race 1 registration:

also, make sure you check out the kick-off party thread.
P.S.

If you are not racing, but are interested in helping out, Charlie wants to have a racer stationed at the bottom of the hill marshaling the course. He thinks having someone who understands bike racing and the speed of the pack will be able to more safely communicate with other park users and keep the race safe for everyone.

ditto
I am registered for 4/21. Looking forward to seeing you all out.

Also who is interested in getting points in the Sprint and KOM competitions? We can usually field two groups to support riders for this.
Im in for the 5s!
I'm also signed up. I'm of the opinion that Kissena can and should own all three jerseys after this race.
Just reg'd for the 5's race
Reg'd. NOTE to the 4s --I will be out-of-town during much of June, so I won't be competing for a series title, so I intend to be a worker man towards getting other Kissenas onto the Podie.
Annoyingly there is no points competition for the 5's this year, its also only 5 laps..............spring series was at least 7 so this seems odd?

Yep, sucks.

This is charlie's not so subtle way of saying...do your races 10 and come and join us in the 4s. Nobody likes a sandbagging 5.
Cant F'ing wait. 4 races down, 6 to go.
hmmm
Did somebody mention Harry? ;-)
I'm signed up too.

Let's start talking aspirations. We need a man for the overall, for the sprint, and for the KOM.

Any volunteers?
I wouldn't mind sneaking into green for a week...If we have any cat IV sprinters who plan on remaining cat IV's till the end of the series...speak now. My natural aversion to field sprints and my uncanny ability to attack at 1k collude to make me a good lead out candidiate. When most of you guys were away doing that "training race" upstate....some of us raced at the hell of the south...Brooklyn that is ...at Floyd Bennett. A 1.5 miles loop was laid out with cones. The course was a maddening display of wind swept monotony. 3/4 of a mile into a headwind at 20 mph followed by 3/4 of a mile at 30 miles per hour with a tail wind. This went on for an hour and a half. After the 2nd lap the field had allready split. By the end there were 8 or so left in the 3/4 field. Christain took 4th I believe and I finished at the tail. Lance took the win after several late race attacks (all by Lance) had softened everybody up. yacks

I love that course!

Yacks, you've certainly earned your stripes as a green jersey man in these races.

As for the overall, assuming John M. is upgrading it seems like it might be time for Christian to assume the position of protected sprinter?

And polka dots - Vollbach, you want it this year? Condon? Whitey?

I don't have any specific sights on this series so I'm happy to join a group of 3 or 4 worker bees just trying to smash shit up (frankly, I find that to be the most fun one can have in park races).

Basically, if you've got aspirations, speak up - there are guys willing to work for you if you want to give it shot. But if you don't say anything no one knows!

R.
I'd personally love to try to get some jersey points (and a win) in a break, preferably with another Kissena. Who wants to buddy up with me and try for a couple of two-up attacks for points?

If the past is a guide, we're going to have big numbers for these races, so we should have lots of flexibility to try for the points jerseys and still organize for a sprint if need be.
I aspire to be Tommy Voeckler. As such, I will improve my french, buy a Colnago, but mostly try late race attacks off the front in this series. Sorry sprinters, probably will be pretty useless in lead out terms. However, when my inevitable attempt is caught, I will offer what's left of my lactate drenched quads for holding the race together and being obnoxious to other teams.
I'd throw my hat into the KOM ring.
I'm up for leading anyone out who needs it - either up a hill or on a finishing flat.
I'm in as well. My fitness lately has been up and down (and up and down and up…) so i'm banking on an up day to help put someone in a jersey, or two.
