not to totally get all up in your business, but please don't forget about the finish line. I think whoever throws their hat in the ring via kissena has a legit shot at a KOM or Sprint jersey. You guys controlled that shit last year and took 1-2 in KOM and Sprint for the season. It is a long year and persistence will pay off, especially with such a strong team.

Not to rush anyone along (now that we've snagged John M), but anyone who is thinking about upgrading to 3s should throw their hat in the ring as someone to look for for the win via break or field sprint. My initial thoughts (just based on doing some riding with you all and knowing how park races play out) is to keep RJ, Jules, and Dave in mind for those post KOM / Sprint counter-attack breakaway moves. Keep Christian in reserve for the field sprint. And in cases when you have lots of guys, tell Christian to literally sit in and do nothing all race. Sorry Christian, it will be a boring existence, but you'll have your shot at the win which is huge.

edit: I remember Dave telling me he wants a crack at the field sprint. Keep that in mind.

This might not lead to the yellow jersey, because there will be other guys from other clubs who go after it who want to be Cat 4s for life, but having a kissena on the podium week after week is huge. Even if it is a different guy each week.

One of the frustrations I think with our former bike sponsor is that there was never a clear idea of what our discount was with Brickwell. Some guys got deals, others got bubkus, and I never had any idea of what the program was with them.

I'm not a guy that's not particularly good at schmoozing/bargaining/haggling. And since I'm in Manhattan, I can't go there on a regular basis to build up a personal relationship. That said, I'm willing to make the trip to spend money there and get work done on my bike (lord knows, I need it--although Jules last report on their mechanic's work, didn't exactly inspire confidence), but I would like to go there with confidence that I'm going to be offered whatever services/prices were agreed upon.

I've never tried for KOM points, but I think with some practice KOM at Prospect is something I could be good at. That said, I haven't raced at PP in a long time so for Saturday I'm happy to be assigned a task.

I also don't live in Brooklyn, so although I'm hoping to couch surf at my brother's a bunch this summer to do Saturday races, I don't have any designs on the series either.

Ryan - I'm there. And like I said in the other thread, I'll do some grill-mastering and cleanup afterwards.

I think I'll start with bottles and socks. Two things everyone always needs and a cheap way to get their name onto Kissena riders during races.

I just got back from there after needing to pick up a spare tube and get my rear wheel trued. I got 15% off of both (which means parts/gear and labor are both covered), and just mentioned that I ride with Kissena, knew they were now our sponsor and heard there was some kind of deal, but said I didn't know what it was.

i got 15% off all of my gear/maintenance last week as well, when i took my ride in for a pre-battenkill tune-up. just mentioned Kissena and they took care of me.

new cassette, chain, BB clean-up, bar tape and a new set of tires. all seems to be working well (though i do still have an annoying creak in my BB when I ride out of the saddle - will be taking it back in to have them look at that again...)

i'd have to say that this is hands down my favorite LBS in brooklyn. everyone there has been super-helpful, informative, called me multiple times while they had to bike to ask questions and offer advice. and, of course, they're just nice peeps in general.

@ Cat 4 team. I nominate Jeff Condon, Yacks or Dave Vollbach to go for the overall leader jersey, ideally someone who can commit to the long series.
I like the KOM and sprint jerseys, but agree with Perlberg that the leader jersey is what we should be fighting for. It also garners the most money and attention.

@ John - are you gettting the upgrade and getting your feet wet?

Take my name out of the hopper for overall. I will chase the green jersey on the opening weekend....then I plan on handing it off to a teammate the following week. I can drop the hammer as 1st man in the lead out train though... We don't know what will happen yet in the green & polka dot competitions, will other teams set up trains??? My suggestion is to have 2 men huinting for both these jerseys. The way to do it is to have one man attack 1K before the sprint (I can do this)...make the other teams chase, leaving our 2nd sprinter in position. On the KOM have the 1st guy attack at the start/finish line...forcing others to chase him down & once again leaving our #2 climber in position. With our numbers though, if we swarm the front and soft pedal the chase may never come. My concern is that the rest of the riders will be looking to sit on our leadout trains. We can negate this by launching guys early and forcing others to move...which they likely will not...that is my evil plan. yacks

Yo! Excited for the series this year.

I've been trying to decide what I want to do in this series. I don't want to be greedy with the KOM, so I'm happy to give someone else pulls up the bottom of the climb. The overall would be cool, and I'd love to try my legs in some sprints (but generally have more luck in breaks). That said, I also would like to get my Cat 3 before the end of the season, so hopefully I won't be in the field for suuuuper long, but we'll see about all that.

I think Saturday I'll feel like putting in a big attack with 2 to go. Who wants to come with?!
