L&C Cup

i understand what zwiftpower attempts to do, and want to be supportive, but my, are they one crazy silly confusing site.

I check them for my race numbers (like avg power for the race) and perhaps will upgrade based on zp, but otherwise the zp results are useless. They don’t represent the race in any way.  Not to mention that 6th place is not sandbagging.

This is the race I did, with the riders I could see, draft, and race against:

Definitely with you on the zwiftpower!
Fun race last night! @eloy and I stayed near the front for most of the race and kept the yo-yoing to a minimum. I kept trying to drive the pace and reduce the field- it seemed to work a bit, but everything kept coming back together (this feels super typical for Zwift).

I got a feather on lap 4 and decided I was going to hold it for the rest of the race until the final little kicker before the sprint. On the cobbled bridge coming into the finish someone went up the road and opened a couple second gap. I was a bit panicked so I started opening it up more then I was hoping I’d have to, was a wheel or two back from Eloy on the riser and then once I was about a third up it, hit my feather. I pushed over the top, and just kept mashing away on my pedals and took the W.

I miss racing in the park and seeing everyone and grabbing coffee afterwards, but these races are a lot of fun (hard as hell but still fun) and are bright spots to look forward to each week!
I feel bad abandoning the zwift-crew but it's been like six months since I was able to ride outside without iditorad level layering and I can't resist.

Is there an L&C virtual race on Wed night?
link?
Email should be out tonight at some point. Will post up when it comes.
Hot off the presses.

signed up for the B's
@eloy @RichFreeman
I was gonna race C tomorrow after seeing the spread of P/W! Now feeling B pressure!
Been doing a few different B races last few weeks but invariably the winner has a 4 handle!
Planning on the Beez

Last minute weight drop?
Do you know what sucks at getting lapped in Zwift? You still have to do all the laps...  Otherwise always fun to see teammates virtually or otherwise.
At least there are no flats in Zwift, ehh @Phil Maronilla??

let me tell about that time where for whatever reason my computer stopped detecting all connections
Touche @JohnOlsson. Lol
first “B” L&C — as expected that was just balls to the wall. About 10 minutes in, missed the split and ended in the second group w/ Rich and Rob. I think my HR is lower now, but my body still in shock. ouch.
B race was dumb hard last night. Heart rate was jacked up near threshold the entire time and the course dictated that power was either way above my ftp or hovering in the lower end of my threshold zone.

Made the split and kept pace with the front group. Every time we went up that last kicker I knew I was burning a match and the matchbook was empty by the middle of the last lap. I opened a small gap to give myself some breathing room and recovery time on the last kicker before the sprint, but I was kidding myself if I thought there was anything left for a sprint. I ended up getting swarmed and that was all she wrote. Fun race though and looking forward to next week!
I went into the Wednesday race a little bit toasty and expecting to hurt... popped a third of the way in, but super fun to see everyone in the race!!
finally feeling like i'm getting the hang of drafting and group riding on zwift. def looking forward to the next ones.

RACES ARE BACK! Mark your calendars and set those alarms!

Our first race is scheduled for Saturday, June 12. We've had many discussions with the NYC Parks Department as well as other local race organizers, including the Century Road Club Association (CRCA), and we're in agreement that, based on current restrictions, June appears to be the best time to begin racing again. Here's the Lucarelli & Castaldi Cup schedule:

- June 12
- July 10
- August 7
- August 21

In addition, the Castelli New York City Cycling Series will also take place again in Prospect Park on these dates:

- June 19
- July 17
- August 14

And we'll round out the season with the Kissena Fall Classic on October 2.

This is a fluid situation and changes might happen. We'll continue to keep you updated.

And a big thank you again to our sponsors: Lucarelli & Castaldi, LLP, BikeReg, Ride Brooklyn, Castelli Cycling and Zephyr. Without their support our races would not be possible.

Stay safe everyone!

Race Director

Race reg is open for the race on June 12! Charlie is keeping a few spots in each field reserved specifically for KCC members, but with reduced field size (Cat 1,2,3 race and cat 4 race are each capped at 80 riders, and cat 5 is capped at 40), Charlie expects these spots to go with the quickness, so register ASAP if you want to race.

ALSO! Please, please, please volunteer to work registration or marshal the races if you're able. Charlie sets the races up and runs them, but KCC's volunteering really helps make them run smoothly and successfully (not to mention you get a free race for working the registration table and a few bucks in your pocket for marshaling). Reach out to Charlie at Charlieissendorf@gmail.com and let him know if you can help out (you still need to register online and Charlie will refund you in cash).
My nerves are jangling just thinking about that cat 5 field crash fest
wow!

Just registered for the 1/2/3.  63 people already in.  I'm the first Kissena in that field.

Looking at the 3/4, its full (or "full") at 70?  And only two Kissenas?  Are spots being saved for other Kissena riders?

Question: Is the price increase due to the smaller field sizes?
The 3/4 filled fast! By the time I saw the email announcement at around noon that registration was open the field had already filled.

Didn't register quick enough (3/4), either, but I am volunteering.
missed reg for cat 5 due to work. also how do I get on the email list to know for the July race?

Some spots are in fact being save for Kissena members that volunteer to marshall and help with registration. Expect those to go quickly, so please let Charlie know if you are volunteering.
Charlie's life is usually pretty hectic and is also usually pretty sleep deprived running these races, forgive him if he doesn't answer back right away! :)

Reminder for new members, from @Matt Budofsky message above:

Reach out to Charlie at Charlieissendorf@gmail.com and let him know if you can help out (you still need to register online and Charlie will refund you in cash).

Matt posted a google forms link in Slack #general channel.
I thought Charlie was moving to San Francisco?
