amazing!

I'll come with a bucket and shovel. Meet up point is the bottom of the downhill.
I will bring a flask. I have neither broom or bucket.
I have a bucket that I'll bring. I don't have a push broom but I'll bring a regular broom that could be used to sweep debris out of the way.
I am just getting theses messages and am putting the kids to bed...If I were still a Brooklynite i would be there.  Hats off to all u guys.  I hope everything works out.  If not and the race is canceled, I will buy all volunteers a muffin.

We've got Ragot and Joaquin to set up Ryan.  We need a sweeper.  Marc?  Hubs?

We need someone to attack after the first KoM.  I guess that's me or Perlberg or ??

We need other attackers who is in?

We need sprinter for the end.  Rene?

We've got elder statesmen in Strika and Stokes.  Guys can you help bug and move up those of us who seem to be fading to the back?

My only problem with being the sweeper, is that for some reason, I NEVER EVER hear the damn bell. I don't know why the frigg'n sprinters get a giant green flag and the climbers get a little tinker bell you can't hear over the sweaty breathy heaves of bike racers.

Okay, my other problem is that I just may not be able to keep up. That said...

I'm going to take my own advice and put all my eggs into being in the right position for one of those sprints.

THAT said...Stokes sure is riding strong these days...I'm sure he can be anywhere he needs to be...

If Keith were on the grid, I'm sure he can be counted on to drive things at the front when the field starts to dawdle. Strika's not on the forum either...

Malcolmson has got to be good for some serious leadout action and/or attacks...

I'm going to stop writing now because I need to be sleeping and hell, no one is reading this now anyway, right?

Except maybe looking for course "mop-up" reports. High fives to everyone who chipped in tonight. Good team spirit.
I'm not planning on racing tomorrow. If anyone working reg wants me to take their spot, let me know. I'll make sure I'm there early enough so that as many of you as possible can get out of there and get at least a short warmup so you aren't going from trying to help crazy late riders to the line in less than a second.
Hey just making sure you are taking my reg desk spot. Thanks again. Hope the pump and generator are holding up...
Race is ON dudes.  Not official yet so don't share but that fucker is DRY.  No small thanks to the hard work of this team (and it's progeny!) and its HELLA SEXY PREZIDENTE.  Sorry ladies, I hear he's engaged.

BiG thanks 2ALL! ;-)

Sheeet....dude with a fire hose and goofy smile needs a calendar. Awesome guys!
incredible
Amazing performance today by everyone!
Special thanks to all the Kissena's who made it to the park last night to help with the flooding.  You are all mensch's...evert last one of ya !
I may write a race report later but I just wanted to say thanks to

(1) all the people who went and dried out the park last night; I have a $25 Ride Brooklyn gift card for all of you as a small token of our appreciation - please contact me offline at ryan@fireflyinc.com to arrange getting it to you.

and

(2) the guys in the Pro 123 who worked for me for those KOMs, and then helped set up me and Rene to be in the winning move. I was just realizing how amazing it is to have a bunch of racers who I have looked up to for so long (and still do!) working for me. Wish I'd have delivered a little better both on the KOM and from the break. But seriously, thanks to everyone!

These things are great reminders on why I love the culture of this club!
Question:  if Stalin DNF'd (and I'm pretty sure he was a DNF), then does he forfeit his KOM point from today's race?  Does Charlie have a rule/position on this?  I mean, you have to finish the race to keep your points, right?
I don't think u have to finish to keep points.  I got shelled out of a race after a green jersey sprint and kept my points.
In my opinion you should have to finish to keep them..
yacks
Might be worth a follow-up with Charlie before he finalizes his points calculations.
I think Stokes asked someone and they said you do keep them.

The truth is he's probably going to get it anyway, if he wants it. I was just looking at the calendar and I've got out-of-town races conflicting with L&C in a few places, and I don't think Stalin races anywhere outside the City.

Yeah... I've gotten shelled and kept sprint points. Today I got tied up in the first crash and didn't finish. Meh, I agree. It's not like we have a time cut to make.

Anyone know why Pollo Jr got DQ-ed? I love a good gossip...especially when it has to do with Mengoni!
Was he the one who made an egregious bike lane attack at the top of the hill? If so, he deserved to be DQ-ed.
Great team effort out there today. Props to Ryan and Rene. Nice shepherding by Ragot.

There was a guy in a pink rhinoceros jersey (no number) who rode the joggers lane the whole way up and over the hill to get to the front. Clueless.
Has no one commented on the sweet new cloth numbers to pin on?

Jim & Jules, thanks for taking care of the pump, really appreciate the help.

Learned a lot today and eager to improve on some of these tactics.  After Andy's second sprint I was just about to peel off at the hill but saw that others were suffering way behind me so stayed in.  Glad I did.  It was really interesting to watch us controlling the pack from the front so that there wouldn't be a successful chase/bridge to the break with Jeff in it.

Thanks to Jim, Whitey, and Jules for the guidance throughout the race.  Seriously learned a ton.

Oh damn, and congrats to everyone who placed!  Thanks for the coffee and croissant!
The pink rino was Tad Marsulek (sp?). He eventually got pulled by the moto. But his pack surfing in the joggers lane was weird. And, when being pulled, another rider pitched in to help the moto, and Tad spat on him. It was pretty brazen.
That Pink Rhino doofus would be none other than former member Tad.  Not cool, especially from a guy his age and experience.

Stalin was breathing through his nose on the KOM he won.

Malcolmson is the hammer and seemed to always be on the front.  Beast.

Ryan looked very comfortable in the break.

Condon made the awesome move.

I stood at the hill for a couple of hours.

Fun race today!

First lap was very mellow but then the Big Foundation Guy took to the front and railed it for almost a lap - I don't know where they found that guy but he can roll.  I sat on about 3rd or 4th wheel just wondering what their plan was...

First Green preme a couple of guys got away and I went to the front and pulled for a few minutes at 350; very satisfying to see them come within striking distance and then sit up to see the Jim-Driven leadout train go roaring by.

Similar story for the next green and then Malcom "Kid done grown up" from Major Taylor took a solo flyer and I chased him much more methodically than I had the small group(s) before.  I decided to try and close the gap just in time for the start/finish and we pretty much did.  First time I've tried to time it like that.

I tried a solo flyer at 3 to go, realized nobody had come with me but I had a pretty big gap I slowed a bit and hoped/waited for the bridge.  It came eventually but the first guy attacked straight by me, pulled up about 5 bikes past me and then dangled... three or four more guys came by and I hopped on, but then the dumbass zone appeared and the rode right into it; riding 4 abreast, looking around... you've all seen the drill...

I think Harry found me for the final Dots preme and we did our best to lead things out; Aly was in front of Yaks by the time I detached at the bottom of the hill - a beautiful leadout in the making.

I caught on at the top and it took a while to realize that Jeff C has snuck away with a small group but it was music to my ears when I heard it.  WIth one to go I realized they were going to stay away and I started telling the people who were lining it up for a sprint and didn't seem to realize, "guys there are five guys up the road, it's over... take it easy"

In the closing km I was sitting about 50m off the back with Jim and Yang; Yang sat up no hands to adjust his glasses and I was like "put your f-ing hands on the bars! this is where the crash happens" almost on queue we saw the tumbling...

Overall I think we did a good job keeping the race hard but there were a few more counters in our arsenal that we didn't spend.  At one point when a break was caught at the top of the descent nobody seemed willing or able to reply - it took me a while to get back to the front but when I did I saw about 5 KCC's and I rode up the side shouting at the top of my lungs, "Why are you not attacking Private Pile!?!  Why am I not seeing your war face!?!"

I'm pretty sure nobody understood and merely thought I'd become completely deranged.

Great job to the team, Jeff C for sticking it and Aly for scavenging some points in the final.  Hope Hardman Harry heals up soon - somebody tell him he looks like a Cyberpunk Porcupine with all his old pins still in his jersey!
Just in case my "Why are you not..." quote didn't strike a chord...
