Again....differeing goals.

Hang on for dear life=likely not helping lead out

Helping someone win a jersey different than helping someone win.

You could make a run of polka dotty kcc jerseys.

Somewhere jules is screaming.

If the public perception truly is we are not being sporting due to our
numbers, a differing Jersey is really the only way to change that public
perception.

If the "win race team" swamps the "hill lead out team" so be it, both teams
have different goals.

At this point it's pretty much the Mengoni jersey's that reek of doping. Black just says "still waiting for my order to arrive."

Subteams are a big step towards turning us into a racing league, not a team.

I'm not riding in any of the spring series this year, I just won't be ready, but I'm looking to May and the rest of the season. My objective this season is to get points for an upgrade - I'll be training for that objective. There, it's public. Now I have to do it. . .

I joined a team, and this one, for the camaraderie, and to race with teammates, to help them and to get help. I've sat on the front and blocked (not my favorite tactic), chased and gapped breaks, and given leadouts, and volunteered at check-in.

I agree that having a lot of teammates in Prospect is a little overwhelming to the other teams - or at least I'm assuming that's the perception. I don't like the idea of not being able to participate, but that being said, my team tactics have often involved sacrifice to get a teammate into a better position.

I'd like to race in Prospect park and don't want to be told not to. I'm willing to wear non-team kit for a race or two in order to relieve the perception of the size of our team. Keep in mind, I look great in team kit, and I look just as great wearing other things.

If I'm told I can't race in the park because of the team I've joined, however, I'll give serious consideration to what that means to me as a member. I realize we're not there yet by far, but I want to put it out there, that this is supposed to be fun, as others have written, and not being allowed to race because of the team I'm on makes things not fun.

I'd like to point out that while a number of KCC racers start any given race, many drop out, for a number of reasons, so the issue is the start of the race, not the finish. Also, we have some damned strong cat IVs so many of you are up at the front and making breaks and visible.

Perhaps the thing to do, in starting a race, is not to start together as a group, but position riders throughout the group when starting, near the front, and near the back. Also, before the race, standing all together shows a big group, so break up and stand in different areas so we don't look so big. It may be changing the perception is what we need to do, not who can ride. What about designating where one starts in the pack, and where one stands on the field?

Why can't we have this issue at Floyd?

Bruce your sentiment is well written and plenty of people (myself included) share it.

One of the reasons I joined Kissena was that a non-inclusive team just had the wrong vibe to it (for me.)

This is why we're airing the discussion to try and figure out what an equitable alternative would be if it comes to it.

(For what it's worth, the Kissena swarm isn't about people massing at the start or the back. It's about having twenty guys in a field of seventy five.)

My sincere hope is that this discussion is enough to keep our numbers reasonable; guys might think twice before clicking to reg if they're still fighting a cold or injury, or Cat 5's might take an extra few races to upgrade.

If someone is on the bubble trying to decide "should I or shouldn't I" they'll have read the thread, understood the conundrum and hopefully still come out to help with reg/KOM, cheering and still join us all for the post race coffee and perhaps make it a long ride day.

I think Gwynna makes a point in that for the L&C there is no women's field and they can race with the men. Thus, adding to the complexities of addressing the issue.

The issue of KCC ladies is a good one to consider. Women can join the 4 or 5 field but there's no QOM or pink jersey in the L&C series, so participating would really be about pulling for the yellow train (better term?) or, more likely, gaining race experience without having to travel very far. Which is essentially the same for KCC guys, but a bit more explicit for the ladies since we (probably) wont be in contention for leader jerseys or part of the leadout.

I'm not in favor of a solution that involves a cap. Its easy to suggest the ladies focus on the R&A Cycles series (@Gwynna, it's all about keeping the pink & dots away from Jen Nordhem!) but I don't think it's fair to ask the same of the guys looking for fun, convenient races to gain experience.
