I was hoping h for a Brooklyn meet up...
What does it mean that there's a big red spot coming right for us?
We can out ride the red dot if we pedal fast enough.  I'll see you guys tonight.
Reading from Darksky/Forecast, I think RedDot will hit at ~5, for better or worse. Not sure if I has friends.

Anybody racing 5s tonight? Will a 5:45 departure will get me there on time for the 6:30 start?

Veselka? If forecast holds, I'm coming to Floyd. legs are pretty shreded from a 2h30 ride this morning with some velocity dudes. sorry kissena, i've been cheating on you.

Sacrilege!!!
alex: it might not. i think i left at 5:15 for the cat 5 6:30 start.  if you get a flat, you'll want the time. 45 minutes not enough to ride, reg, and not use too much energy.... IMHO

The view from my work looking south.

Is it as bad in Brooklyn?

some raindrops on my skylight in Manhattan but the sky isn't looking too bad.
Raining in Sunset Park, wind has whipped up, dark clouds, nasty, nasty thunder. . .
T storm was announced around 5:45 PM
Oof, maybe it'll just pass quickly?...
see you at GAP at 5:45!

I'll meet you guys at Floyd. Have to take the car to be serviced and the garage is on the way.
It's on, gonna be swampy fever out there though.
The sky is clearing out here, and feels like it cooled down a little bit.  Charlie just posted on FB the race is on. Love putting on this kit!
Hope Rewarded.  Results bros, lets hear it...
I made the race to get to the race - barely. Tony and I got dropped at the first move in the crosswind, though - maybe slight throbbing in legs at the start was a bad sign...

We had a nice 4 man chase going, too bad we got cut at the last lap. Anyway, good fun.
Results?
In the 3/4s Malcolmson took 3rd and we think Rigby took 6th.
That was a balls-out race! There was a big move from the gun with Axis, WW, Kissena, United rep'd. Marc helped initiate it, but got shelled in the process (it hurt!). I was right on the rivet too. That set the tone for the race with lot's of attacking. We lined up for the first prime, Brendan chased down some guys up the road and then Phillip started it off in the back stretch, then we realized that we'd last most of our guys. Alyosha took the front for a good long while... ended up a bit of a shopped sprint in which Lance came underneath to take the pierogies, (me 2nd). From there it was a bit of a blur, completely missed the next prime. Axis had strong counters. CIS state time trial champ 2-lap solo'd for the W out of a break (impressive). I got out dieseled by James Joseph in the sprint, but beat out Frias for 3rd. Completely gassed. Beers at Mission Dolores with McKay and Alyosha. Still need to get some Veselka pierogi going on. Thanks to all for supporting me in the green jersey tonight, great to see we have some new weapons out there. As a team we did great; were in all the breaks (except the last one :^B), and appreciated the couple of times when I was barking orders; "bridge up", "pull through", people stepped up to the plate. Boozy TT up to the UWS with Alyoshas, dodging Citi-bikes. Cheers!
Somebody please say of they are going out after. I was really bored last night.
BOOM!  Love it.  Went to sleep at 8 and just got up.  "Old school HGH" manufacture.

video being processed by youtube, who knows when it will be done

i installed an app that limits my time on the forums during the workday, but i'll post a race report later

ditto to everything malcolm said. apologies for not helping him more w/ the green jersey.  i let two guys go ahead on a preme lap and they got the sprint points via mini-breakaway.  still not sure what place i got but wasn't in top 5.  that TT guy was completely off-radar; i don't even remember seeing him.  chapeau to him; our average speed was 24-26 on those last laps...can't believe he stayed away on such a windy course.  then again i guess the wind helps you stay away after turn 1

@Rigby, the video has been processed. I kinda skipped around but it looked like a fun, fast race.  Looks like you were 6 or 7th, but either way that's a hell of a job.
i watched the end of the 1/2/3 race last night and saw the douchiest move of the day.

three-man break heads towards the the line on the final lap with breach, bezdek and another foundation guy.  unidentified foundation guy pulls away in the sprint and as he passes the finish line, sits up, looks towards the crowd, then proceeds to raise a finger to his lips in the classic shushing move.

i am almost certain everyone in the crowd mumbled the word "prick" as he did it.

n.b. i do not know the guy so cannot speak to his character.  for all i know he could save kittens for a living.  but regardless that was a pretty douchy move.
Prop's to Marc for driving this from-the-go break. I was properly warmed up, and even then it sucked. Also Phillip and Bruce for hanging in there, it was a pretty shattered bunch by the finish.

This one...
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh, that is the definition of douche.
^ i actually had no idea it was a break until halfway into it.  i just kept thinking, damn this is a fast start.  it wasn't until i looked around that i realized we'd gotten a decent gap.

alas i couldn't maintain the break and fell back.  i was kinda annoyed with myself, but then when i got home and uploaded my data i saw that i destroyed my 5-min power record.  after having seen that i wasn't so upset that my legs were in bits and couldn't follow through.

still, i need to get more comfortable with those Vo2/anaerobic-into-threshold efforts.
