see you bright and early!
So I think there is going to be a pretty big group. Maybe up to 20 people so try to look out for the other kissenas and make sure no one gets dropped ect. See you out there!
I will be in the Park from 10-12. Anyone else who has to stay close...
Handsome devils...
and again...
couple more...
If ever a photograph captured the essence of William...
last one.
Haha. That's right. I was the last one there. Everyone waited on me and then I didn't even do the stupidbowl ride. Hahaha I suck. Jules' bike is awesome. And it has a dope ass camera.
And one final one to remind you of the last few miles home...
Great ride guys!! thanks for this Keith.
Such good times.

Between that ride and the way the giants are playing, life is fucking wonderful.

Great seeing you all today!

Vollbach and Mueller were both animals - chapeau!
Great ride, broke my record today finished at 139 miles!!!
is there a video?
I want to see it
Family Reunion! I don't think I've seen so many Kissena's out in a long long time.

Had a good time hanging with Jeff O. before the ride then saw Gideon right before the GW bridge. That's right GIDEON! Made it across to sing Keith happy birthday with tons of other bikes. Haven't seen Jim in forever always a pleasure. Said a passing hi to Ryan, Jeff W, Jules, Josh C., Jorge, Dan R, Mike, Sterns.

Started the day catching up with Patrick, and just kinda floating towards the back to stay out of the wind cause its going to be a long day. Hung with Andy, Chris, Dave V, for a smooth ride to the orchards. Thanks for pulling JP!

Ended up having a pretty serious meeting with a SUV who apparently "signaled" which means it was ok to make a right in front of me going 20-30 down hill. I was able to lean on the side of the car to stay upright while we pull in the the parking lot. So he could return his netflix. Aly gave him what for since I was a little shook up and just wanted to peace out. Thanks buddy!

Patrick came back then Keith which took us in to Bear Mtn park. We did a bit of climbing then proceeded by seven lakes the more climbing and up Titoratu? (No idea how to spell that one.) But it was a beast of a climb. I do have a new respect for the way Dan Chab climbs he took every king of the mountains today uncontested.

On the decent I bumped in to who else but Harry! He got lost but mad props for finding his way (solo) to the climb telling me to F off when I told him everyone was coming down then finishing the ride strong! Chilled with WDC and co. for most of the way back and got to spend some q.t time with Marc before Keith Double flatted. Oh just a side note Dave V doesn't really get in to form until 100 miles that guy can climb all day.

Waited at Strickly for everyone with Al and jr. before finishing back to the city with Stokes.

In the end I bike 7.5 hours for 130 miles and had a blast catching up with everyone today! Now to bed.
Jeebus on a pogo stick. That is one hairy ride report. Sounds like you dodged a serious bullet with the SUV - nicely done. Mad props to the lot of you. 130 miles is no joke. Front middle OR otb.
Ok guys, apologies for the amateur polish; learning as I go here...

Glad you're ok, Joe. Props to Aly for giving it to that idiot.

GIIIAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNTTTTTTTTS!!!! SUCK IT, BRADY!!!!

People are burning spliffs in the hallway of my apartment building. It's officially ON.
@Joe - glad to hear you were okay. Riding back with Konrad, Andy and Keith they seemed shaken and amazed that you didn't end up under the guys fender.

@Jules - your video camera is pretty cool. Were you rolling deep dish carbon wheels? The low hum rumbling sorta sounds like carbon hoops, but it may just be what road noise sounds like to a camera microphone.

@Keith - thanks for leading a great ride through some less familiar roads. Wanna have another birthday next weekend? I'm sure you'd get takers
@Patrick - nah, there is just a lot of road noise. Last time I turned it all the way down for the voiceover... there is a different back to the case I could use that is for "under" 100mph, like that'll ever happen... it's supposed to be quieter.
1) happy birthday Keith. It was a great ride. I haven't done 100 mi in a long time, and never with such a congeneal group.
2) best image of the day was coming back on the bike path through Haverstraw. Ran into a pre-stuporbowl party, where they were using a bulldozer to crush a car with patriots logos all over it! We rode by so quickly that I only started to comprehend what was seeing after we turned the corner.
Due to Cyclo-Cross Worlds landing on the traditional StupidBowl/Birthday Ride day and the chance I might actually be in Kentucky and not here that Sunday, the annual event has been officially moved to...

This Summer!  Hahahahahahaha, just kidding.

Sunday, February 10 at the lovely hour of 8AM at the GWB Jersey Side. This gives the KY group that's traveling to World's NO EXCUSE for missing/skipping the ride.

We will follow last year's route with perhaps a couple small twists. There will be two major turn back points for those under time restraints or not up to the distance. That said BE REASONABLE. The effort needed on this ride is serious. It only gets faster as we progress. If you get dropped on say The Rocket Ride, races at Floyd, in PP races, consider doing the ride to the Orchard turn around 'cause after that it gets harder. There are typically a few very strong riders who drive the pace. While we will not leave anyone behind or alone, prepared to be dropped often no matter who you are or think you are. And remember that 200km even at pace takes a lot of time and sunshine is at a premium in Feb. No one wants to ride home ion the dark.

Musts for the ride: TWO (2) tubes. MONEY ($20) for food, etc. and what may come up. Properly functioning, recently cleaned, lubed and checked bike. Mechanicals suck. It could/will/might/has always been COLD. Bring the right food and drink. We do not stop unless absolutely necessary until AFTER Bear Mountain at the traditional Cove Deli stop in Tompkins Cove. By that time the avg Brooklyn resident will have done around 70+ miles and have 50 + left to go. Again consider that seriously. Last year I clocked 130 miles and around 7000'+ climbing. Taking the subway to GWB and back IS NOT FROWNED UPON!
Unlike other rides I post there is no need to email me to confirm. We typically wait until 8:15 to depart GWB. So in the words of Shrub: "You're either with us or you're against us".

Any questions? Feel free to contact me via email. I tend to ignore forum chatter.

Peace,

I am really looking forward to this ride.
Everyone please post questions for keith here. He checks the forum daily.

I can't believe I've never done this.

Well, yes, I can, because it looks like it sucks.

But in that great way.

I'll maybe do it this year.
Good training for the Calif training camp
If it is dry I'll do this. I'm not sure I want to do 130 miles so I may turn around with one of the early groups to keep it under 100.
Keith also has a broken leg, so he's going to hammer the whole way to get home quicker.

If schoolwork hasn't started punching me en las joyas de la familia by then, I'm in.
I'll prob do it too.
