Saw Keith in a photographer's bib at the start of the Worlds womens race.  He'll definitely be back for next Sunday's ride.

I would attempt this ride but I'm suffering a crisis of confidence after reading the epic description. And by that I mean 8 am on the Jersey side is way too early for my delicate Brooklyn sleep schedule. Plus, I'd have to bring three tubes because I owe @alyoshas one...

Ironically, the bigger it gets, the easier it gets.  Yes, you'll still have to ride the distance, but long past is the year when four of us made the trip, starting when the temp was 15f.  The bigger the group, the more sitting in.

Better suck it up now if you plan on racing. Waking up at 5am (or earlier) is standard fare.

hahaha i know.  grant's tomb is a 7 am start for us lowly cat 5s!  you guys are a tough crowd to say no to.  hopefully i'll see you this sunday.

I'm back from Louisville and stuck at the computer editing images from saturday so I can actually get out and train at least once before sunday.
In case you wonder it's on for 8am GWB. I work usually until around 12:30am saturday and get to bed by 2 if I'm lucky so no whining about sleep. Just have a tequila (herradura reposado works well) or two the night before so you have enough testosterone to not punk out. Plus it's supposed to be clear and in the 40's which is rather tropical for us these days.
My ankle is getting better. Unfortunately as those who have done the wed 6pm compuketrainer session know my form is not. So I'm going to get all my training done sunday once and for all. For those not wanting to pack on the 30 garbage miles and keep it at 100 TAKE THE TRAIN TO AND FRO GWB OR DRIVE. I promise to not let anyone give you too much shit.

Those look really nice. Do they fit 25mm tires?

@Jules-According to the advertising copy for the fender, it was "Designed for 700x x 23-25mm tires."

I have 25m tubeless tires on with the fender now and it's fine with room to spare.  However, it's on my cross bike and I had to do a bit of rigging to suspend the fender properly from the canti brake, so I may have inadvertently created more room for rubber than would typically be the case.

@ Nelix: just a minute or two of internet reading and I'm a fan.  Did you get them here or in the UK?

@Jules-I bought mine through PBK in the U.K. because they seemed to be on backorder in the U.S. (at least a few months ago when i bought 'em).  Shipping was surprisingly quick. (By the way, installation instructions on the fenders are minimal at best, but if I was able to figure it out anyone can.)

Cool.  Those look like they'd provide way better coverage than my SKS race blades.

Gardiner OTB for entire 130 mile ride.  Done.

I tried the Crud Catcher.  Great looking fenders and great coverage, but I could never get them to sit right.  Maybe it's the size of my bike, a 60.  I like to drink beer when I work on my bike, and I just can't drink enough for the time it was taking to fiddle with that fender.  I've got the SKS fenders now and and they go on easy and come off easy.  Unfortunately, they leave a mark on the frame, as I think most fenders do, so I use sliced tire pieces as buffers between the frame and fender.
