Happy Hours & Social

I'd have gladly made the trip up there but I had birthday drinks-and-dinner to go to. Sounds like y'all had a good time.
It's time for another social event!  This time we're taking it back to Brooklyn and meeting up at Lavender Lake in Gowanus.

The Details
What: Kissena April Social
Where: Lavender Lake, 383 Carroll Street, Brooklyn
When: Wednesday, April 6, 7pm
as an FYI for future reference Beer & Burger on 5th Ave and Garfield has a guest brewery visit each wednesday. Between 6 and 8 reps from the brewery hand out free pints and sage beer knowledge to wash your burger down with.

I'm not affiliated to the place at all - just happens to be at the end of my block - so I know this.

Tonight happens to be Smuttynose.
Finally, one I can attend! Woot.
@ian ellis thanks for the tip!
Ilya and I will try to make it!
I am not sure if I can make it...! Hopefully!
I have a work presentation tonight that starts at 6 and doubt i'll be able
to make it out to BK before 8...that's one of my favorite places though,
enjoy!

Flying out to Seattle today, count me in for the next one!
Just wanted to send a thanks out to Jill for setting this up.  I hadn't been to LR before and it's a really cute spot, will be nice once it's warmer and the back deck is open (to the superfund site of the Gowanus?  Oh well).  But it also seems a pretty cozy winter spot, as well.
I had a fried chicken sandwich and a couple of, you're going to pay for it during sprint practice, beers.  And then, well, paid for it during sprint practice.

Nice to talk with the folks who showed up, about 11 of us in all, I think, and I got to meet James.  Looking forward to more.
+1 really nice to see some old and new KCC faces. Thanks Jill!
If anyone is interested in organizing or declaring a team happy hour/social event, please feel free to do so on this thread.
How do people feel about a friendly game of softball in PP as a chilled social? Can you drink in the park? I've brought my glove with me but I'm yet to use it despite being in the US for nearly 8 months.
I like the idea. I've got a glove, and one to share. I often drink in Prospect Park, but always carefully, meaning in small groups using unmarked cups. If we want to drink brazenly, we'd better head to Central Park: the Manhattan DA announced in March that the NYPD will no longer arrest people for drinking in public. You can still get a summons and possibly a fine, but you won't be prosecuted.

EDIT: but, you know, best not to put the club's reputation with the city on the line by drinking in the park, which is still technically against the law.

Sounds awesome!
I am down with some friendly softball. Like most outdoor places, it is a good idea to be discreet about your outdoor drinking. I believe the official baseball diamonds require a permit application and reservation. We could always wildcat on any sufficiently unoccupied diamond knowing we could always be kicked out by others.
I like the idea, except unoccupied diamonds in NYC. hahaha. maybe in the morning of January 1st.
How about a beer garden, a really big one...that we can all roll up to on wheels perhaps??
@eloy I'm more a jumpers for bases kind of guy anyway....I've never had the pleasure of playing on an actual diamond.
softball is cool too
@JamesShaw so it's more of an excuse to drink while holding a bat kind of game?
@Dan Reiners Pretty much, the only people not expected to have a beer to hand are the batters in play.
Too much talk, not enough drink. Where is the grog?
Tonight! Meet at Sunny's at 7:30pm in order to cheer on Evelyn at the Red Hook crit at 8:30pm.
IN! See you down there at 7:30 :-)
I know it's super last minute but tomorrow night Bike Month kicks off at East River Bar in Williamsburg! I will be part of a panel on women's cycling (hosted by Transportation Alternatives) and there's a happy hour!

Swing by for a drink & say hi!
