Looks like we have 50+ RSVP'd, nice!

Last call for awards...

Looking over them:

Most miles?

Most Improved?

any ideas?
I would like to nominate Joe Mueller as most improved rider for the work he did over last winter and into the new year.

I can recall a time during the fall of 2010 when it was not such a given that Joe would be first up the hill - but by December the numbers in the computrainer sessions were starting to speak for themselves, and by March he was dominating the 4 field.

And, not sure how this could be "nominated" - but I'd like to at least publicly recognize the Catskills crew that worked like hell for me, Norm and Jules, and helped us bring in a team victory, 2 GC top 10's, and a 6th place stage result. Watching the peloton gasp and say "what the hell??" when suddenly, 10 miles in, the pace went through the roof was truly awesome and I know several guys put in that effort at the expense of the rest of their day. I just don't see that happening on other teams, at least not in the lower cats.
Any chance anyone has a good quality photo of the Catskills cat 4 crew together they can send me? today....

Don't kid yourself. Have you ever watched Mengoni race? They could learn a lot from our Cat 4 squad.

I nominate Eric Ragot for "Mentor of the Year." This year Ragot took his mentoring responsibilities up a few notches and it shows. His weekly training plan forum posts seemed to really help motivate a many of our Brooklyn based riders to get out in Prospect Park morning after morning after morning. Helping develop stronger riders with more team spirit. Plus I only made it out to one of several run by Eric, but even just one cross training practice session made a huge difference in how I approach and handle cross racing. I believe others may feel the same way. Close second and honorable mention goes to JP Partland for continuing to put on his multiple training lectures and regular Friday CP rides year after year after year.

While I agree Joe has improved, he has been nominated about 2 dozen times for cutest rider / dream date. So I'm trying to spread the love around a bit.

Most improved rider...?
Best in race quote (one of you fuckers when I ride for nyvelocity) "sorry I can't pull I'm fat"

FYI - the "can't pull, am fat"'comment has to be jeff Owens.

It just has to be. "

Heh, just getting around to this thread. Guilty as charged! I think I was doing my favorite activity (sitting in) b/c Joe was going for KOM points or something. I use that excuse on all rides.
@ Owens

Orange & blue doughnut is the prize.
I've been aging it in my cellar since the spring. It's nice & furry now...

Last year (and in previous years) there was a crew that rode out to the party. Anyone want to do so again this year ? 5:30 at GAP ?

Do we need to check with the restaurant first that they are still cool with this \ the patio space is available \ etc ?
Posted By: WilliamDC (in 2010)last year, they opened up the locked, enclosed, empty rear patio

we locked out bikes out of habit, but it seemed very secure
Best Teammate - Marc Bertucco and Josh Caesar
Best Teammate - Jeff O & Norm for stopping when I flatted at Housatonic to try and pull me back up to the peloton.
I hope I win dream date! *--_// FINGERS CROSSED \\_--*
Daniel Wong: For best teammate at Tour of the Catskills.
Joe Mueller: best teammate at nominating teammates and lives around the corner from me.
Posted By: eragotSome nominations:
Hardmen Award (tie) - Everyone who did Beacon CX - Marc, Ben, Perlberg, Ragot. AND Second L&C Cup in the 35 degree rain - Perlberg / Ragot. The same after race feelings of shivering / shuddering were felt...
just want to say that Norman Swygert beats you all in the Hardman Award for his performance at Quabbin. Imagine Beacon, but 2 hours longer. Also, by default, he won the "The Shriveled Worm" award for the same performance.
Best Teammate in my mind extends across the season, not any one particular event. So that may rule out Marc in comparison to Josh (sorry Marc)
Best Attack: Ryan Johnston's solo move to win at Floyd

Best Teammate: Dan Reiners for his pre- and intra-race organization efforts to secure leaders jerseys, and showing up to the club championships with broken rib to heckle

Most Aggressive: Wojciech Plata

Miss Congeniality: Keith Snyder for enraging a man to the point of "flashing his piece out on the lanes"

I second the nomination of Norman for the hardman award, although one might consider that as a caveman he has an unfair advantage.
Who gets the nomination for Big Ring Riding?
my pee pee got caught in my big ring...
Michael, sorry for the late RSVP, but my schedule cleared unexpectedly. Just entered it on Doodle.

Team,

Thanks for a great year-end party! Why don't we do this more often?

My favorite quote of the event was from Jeff White, on the subject of 2012 weight loss, "Can you get medical-grade tapeworms?"

Seriously though, once the silly season is past us we should aim for a N-th tuesday of the month team thingy. Maybe a Sunday post ride feast with kids?

Great to meet lots of you guys for the first time tonight! :)
really good times tonight, dudes

2011 board (especially Lenny): thanks for putting this together - it's always nice
Good thing theres booze at these shin-digs as it takes the edge off seeing you cheeky bastards without your helmets and sunglasses on...but I kid. The not-to-be-taken-seriously-awards keeps things interesting. Next year tie breakers should be settled by a game of Jenga!!! Thanks to everybody involved in making these parties happen. Stay safe and warm this winter = ride the rollers in your basement. I have yet to have a bad crash in my door frame.

p.s. never forget that shameless oportunism pays dividends. Gymkata !!!
