My cops yesterday were fairly receptive. Or, at least they listened for a short time. And while I could see in his eyes that nothing I was saying was really landing, they didn't get all aggressive like often happens. But I was being extremely diplomatic.

David, the fact that other things that are more messed up about our fair City's police force doesn't mean the other discussion doesn't have merit. All you're saying is that NYPD does other things that are much shittier. The streets safety issue and stop and frisk are two completely different things. (nice use of hashtag though, you've been learning from Jules apparently)

To be honest though, what we really probably need are team-issue leather jackets.

fact is, I've been to the community court in red hook on a different type of business (which was dismissed).
and I made the mistake of riding down 2nd ave tonight, which was a chaotic mix of citibikes and skate boaders blowing red lights. this route passes the police academy, but no law enforcement in sight.
finally, I gather from Jules that you can make up hash tags to suite your purpose: #citibikesareannoying

@mugwump. While the subways have drivers, the majority of the 5.3 million daily riders don't drive and likely never rent but if you are buying ad space you still have to pay for those eyeballs. With respect to your second point about changing popular perception, totally in agreement with you. I think there are better ads at accomplishing that than the 30 / 40 ad.

I really hope the national attention this story is getting will also bring outrage if this dipshit doesn't get charged after all. If you'll recall, similar outrage after a couple was killed in a crash by a speeding driver on the way to the delivery room eventually led to the DA growing a pair. I'm not optimistic, though, because duh, this is NYC.

Frisked?  That's it?  I was brought in to the police station for riding my bike on Fire Island.  And I was held until my ticket was paid.
