Meet Kissena Ride

I'm in for the ride.
We'll see if anyone wants to climb Clausland before heading into Piermont for coffee.
OK, it sounds like we'll have sufficient personnel to organize the ride. I'll send out the email blast.

@Bruce - Regarding Clausland, you guys will have to evaluate the skill level of all participants before putting a climb into it. There is a decent chance there will be a n00b who will not be able to handle it. No dropsies on this ride. But like I mentioned before, feel free to invite appropriate riders to do an Alpine ascent or two upon return to GWB to juice the workout a bit.

Thank you to everyone who's volunteered for this very important aspect of the club's activities. Would love to see a few others work this into their Sunday schedule -- especially some wizened veterans.
@Jeffrey White-I'm good for Sunday....from BB to Piermont and back to GWB.  The only leg I won't be able to do with the group is the GWB back to the BB on the way home.  I assume that you'll let us know who to be expecting etc.?
@neilx - Unfortunately, we don't have an RSVP mechanism yet for new member rides :-\
@Jeffrey White--Okay. So we'll just hang out at the BB at 8:00 on Sunday and see who shows up, yes?

FWIW, I'm out of town this weekend. I look forward to helping out with the Winter New Member rides though!
@neilx: The official ride begins at 9 a.m. on the NJ side of the GWB. However, KCC peeps generally meet at BB at 8 to ride up together.
@Jeffrey White- Even better. Okay.
@Jeff, is the KCC meetup at the base of the Brooklyn side of the Brooklyn Bridge?
I'll meet you guys at GW bridge at 9. I'm in queens.
@JesseLash - Yes.  At the Brooklyn end of the walkway near Tillary.

@Phillip- See you at the GWB.
Sorry I will be in MA helping parents move
I'm in
Looks like I'll be meeting you all at the GWB, not the BB. Still in for the ride.

I will meet you at 9 at the usual spot o
n NJ side of gwb
In at the gwb
Good ride today with three prospects and twice as many Kissenas. We took the low road then to Clausland. Don't worry Jeff, the prospects had no problem going up and over.. (I couldn't say the same about me..ha).

We stopped by Piermont, chatted for a bit then back home doing double paceline on 9W. The three had no issues keeping up with the our pace.

Thanks to JP for really leading the ride and setting the pace.

The three that showed up:
Scott
Margaret
Tim
Nice to be out riding with teammates.  The three new cyclists who showed up did just fine on the ride.

On the way back, along the Piers where the cruise ships dock, a car turned out quickly in front of a cyclist who jammed on his brakes.  I just clipped his large metal pedal with my front wheel and broke a spoke.  The biker rode away and I tried riding with my spoke bent around another but my tire was rubbing against the fork.  I got in some cross practice shouldering my bike back to Toga.  And learned yet again why it would be good to have training wheels.

35 minutes, 35 bucks, a chocolate milk and Pepsi later, I was back on my bike with a new spoke and rode home.  Though they put the tire on backwards.  But I tipped him - always tip your mechanic.

Nice to see everyone today, and it's great to ride with people who want to race but haven't yet.  That kind of enthusiasm is infectious.
Hey guys, thanks so much for manning the ride in my absence!
No problem Jeff, but frankly I'd rather be riding in France too.
That was a really fun ride. No shortage of fitness or personality in kissenaland.
Great to get out
Is the new member ride scheduled for this Sunday still happening?

Is the new member ride scheduled for this Sunday still happening?
It sure is! Note the time change to 9 a.m. BB 10 a.m. GWB.
What time do you anticipate the "out with the old, in with the new" ride getting back to the GWB by?
If we stop at piermont for coffee I predict noon-ish?
*all of a sudden a wild Edwin appears* Hey! I'll make an effort to be out this Sunday for the new member ride at BB, breaking off early though.
I'll be in Vermont this weekend, sorry. Would be there otherwise.
I always seem to miss these. Can't make tomorrow but /will/ make one this year.
