One more race.. and it's a local too.. in Astoria Queens.

Noooo I'll be out of town. I've been dreaming of a cyclocross race in the five boroughs.
Pros: It's like right there, man!  A cross race you can ride to in NYC!
Cons: On New Years Eve, at 2:30P for men's B race and a 35 racer field limit
Lots of spots still open.  I think the NYE date is throwing people off.

If Yacks gave back my track bike I would consider doing the single speed race at 9:30a...
I'm honestly surprised all the spots aren't taken already.  I'm in.

Seriously if you know any women racers, get them in on this!
I tried to sign up for the C race but it wouldn't let me. Guess I'll have to do the B race.

See you all there.
Lots of new info on the race tomorrow. It'll be a fun time, can't wait.
Awesome!!

interesting article on tire pressure

https://www.bikerumor.com/2017/01/03/wyman-method-setting-proper-race-tire-pressure-part-1/

Interesting thought: weight in pounds divided by 10, then add five to get your low pressure limit.  Like if you're 150 pounds, then it's 15+5 or 20psi.
dumb question that i don't feel like googling for any longer than i already have.  as long as i'm not racing UCI events, i can run whatever width tire I want in cyclocross, correct?

is there is not a rule for USAC races, or is there a rule that race organizers generally choose not to enforce?

Correct. 33 width only applies to Elite/UCI categories. Guys like you and I can run 35s or anything that our frames can handle. A few years back during a snow storm some guys rode fat tire bikes in cross race at the Asylum

Worlds!
What's gonna be the best way to watch the World Championship?
I'll probably watch from home. If the weather allows riding, after riding.

The UCI YouTube channel has shown the races for the past 2 or 3 seasons. But not in the USA, you'll need a foreign VPN to watch, usually I connect to my London office -- it is how I watch the World Cups

You are welcome to stop by. Just text me to coordinate.

I can't remember, do we know why this is?
because the UCI does try to sell the rights to broadcast the races, nbcsports (universal sports before) usually buys it, and eventually broadcasts it.
a quick google search suggests nbcsports will stream the elite races sunday:

Thanks Eloy. Of course now I am hooked watching bobsledding at quarter to six on a Friday morning.
CX magazine has compiled all the YouTube world links , you'll need a vpn. These stream the races live, and can also be watched later on demand.
