I still have a penchant for steel frames but....that carbon Giant....

Crackbon.
Good news?

I wonder which are the remaining three races TBA. Anyone with more experience wanna hazard a guess?
This is great news. If this series becomes anything close the USGP it'll be amaze.

There are no races TBA. There are 7 races in 4 locations:

2017 USCUP-CX Schedule

  • KMC CrossFest, Thompson, Connecticut, Sept. 30-Oct. 1
  • CharmCity Cross, Baltimore, Maryland, Oct. 7-8
  • Cincinnati Cyclocross, Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 28-29
  • Derby City Cup, Louisville, Kentucky, Nov. 4
I was planning on maybe skipping KMC, but this could change my mind. Charm City is one of my favorites and maybe the best course in the east coast, hope more Kissena come out in 2017.
Oh, I see. I was counting races by name/location, not by day. Cool.

Don't wanna say I told you so, but....

Wow!? ...Only 7 MAC races? And Charm City out? Something big in the works?
Yeah....you guys wanna race some more on your cross bikes??
DO THIS...

Yacks got his start on these trails in the early 90's...it's the pine barrons...you can totally ride your cross bikes.
If you are thirsty for more...DO THIS

Now it's not a 24 hour race like Yacks used to do in his day...but I guess you guys are too soft these days....so 6 hours
@twoyacks do any of these races take place outside of cross season? I'd like to do a mtn bike race or two this summer.  I've considered the something wicked race, but unfortunately it falls on the same weekend as Supercross.
I'm looking at the mtb calendar this summer....as I may put my toe in the water...just to say I did
surprisingly, Helen Wyman will not continue with Kona in 2018.

Just saw that. Real shame.
My friends at 2 Seconds Ahead are giving a super low key introduction to Cyclocross, on Sunday August 20th at Rainey Park:

Andrew Reimann tries different CX tires threads, the results are, well, unsurprising.

Caroline Mani finds herself with no team or clear prospects for the 2017/18 season. So gofundme it is:

This affects:

CRAFT Sportswear Gran Prix of Gloucester: Oct. 14-15 – Gloucester, MA
The Verge Northampton International: Nov. 11-12 – Northampton, MA
Supercross Cup: Nov. 18-19 – Suffern, NY
NBX Gran Prix of ’Cross: Dec. 2-3 – Warwick, RI
@eloy your post affects me more than I knew.

I turned 49 this year but learned that my racing age for CX this season is 50. How did I not know this before? Go figure. Hello 50s!?

From USA cycling:

Racing Age: The age the rider shall be on December 31 of the current year except in cyclo-cross. A rider’s racing age in cyclo-cross is his age on December 31st of the year that the cyclo-cross season ends.
This has been making the rounds:

Basically, a version of a cyclocross race will be a part of the crossfit games in Madison, WI.

All competitors get to race on a Trek MTB.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpnltVzza9U

According to the description of the Crossfit Games:

Athletes cannot train for what they do not know. At each CrossFit Games, the athletes engage in a series of challenges unknown to them until right before the competition. The combination of highly trained athletes and unknown events makes for an explosive mix.

So this means that the participants will probably have Yang levels of questionable cross bike handling skillz.

I predict Red Hook Crit levels of pile ups at every single turn.
reminds me a little of the track races of "unknown distance" at the Kissena velodrome...
I love the idea of competitors not knowing what's coming...perhaps the tour organizers could take a page and leave a few stages of "unknown origin"...teams find out at the start if it's a flat, mountain, TT, team TT, cobble etc.   All teams required to use their standard road bike...would be so RAD !!!
Carbon cross fork has arrived

Let the Cross Mojonation commence !!!

Noice.
New gears are in
if u haven't seen this....u should see this

Talking with JP and others last week, as promised, here is a preliminary schedule of races in my radar. About 25~30 races.

For me, Charm City, HPCX, CSI and Supercross are my top don't miss "A" races.

If you are relatively new, Gloucester will be challenging but likely spectacular. Not sure how to stack KMC, it used to be best race, perhaps it will live up to its past.

For registration links, and even more races, here's Keith Garrison's King Kong awesome list:

@eloy I'm considering Whirlybird despite my cross bike might not being in on time, it being the week after GMSR, and having never seen a cross race.
