Cyclocross!

What are we going to do at the CX clinic Saturday? Glad you asked.
You’re going to ride your bike in circles in the grass while the neighbors scratch their heads in disbelief.
More specifically, we are going to focus on:
Getting on and off the bike: Mounting and Dismounting smoothly
Carrying the bike: suitcases and shouldering
Managing Barriers/Planks: integrating all of the above
Starts: getting off the line in a hurry
We will put together some course elements with some cornering and do some hot laps
This should be plenty in about 2-2.5 hours, but if you have a skill you want to learn or have a favorite drill you want to share with others, let us know!
We can cap it off with some trail riding.
Finally, we are all invited to Bobby’s place in Maspeth Queens for a BBQ. Yum
at 9am right?
Sorry! I got a power meter for my bike and tried to install it yesterday but didn’t have the proper tools so I had to bring it into a shop and they didn’t get it done in time unfortunatelyBrianStan said:CX practice was solid tonight - @RobertMullen you were missed, but was good to see James (not positive of his last name and we have multiple James').
My back and legs are fried - going to need to call it. Hope you all have a great time though and see some of you at Wed. night CX practice on Randalls.
also, good times post practice at Bobby’s bbq 🍗

Will play effort/length by a ear, but probably about 2ish hours on the cross bike fun.
Let me know if interested to coordinate meetup, here or text: 347.225.1058
come join, will be fun and great practice!
Looking forward to a great CX season. Make sure to use the Kissena CX calendar to organize your races and maybe setup carpooling.
Here are some pics from Saturday and a link to a video clip. There is no blooper reel

Will mark the 1st of the MAC series races. Not super technical, pretty awesome course to get a season started. Staging will be by order of registration, so register early and often.
I am signed up for the 11:30 am race, along with Patrick and Tom. Jim and Rob, will be there too. Firah! Come join.
Plenty of forum reports and other mentions if you just search for whirlybird...

Meanwhile, to get all of us in the mood:
https://youtu.be/lrLmbNnSJe0Is anyone interested in Carpenter Cross on Saturday? It's 6 miles from whirlybird. I am thinking of renting a car Saturday morning, racing carpenter in the afternoon, and grabbing a hotel in the area. I would have room for one more. Let me know if you are interested! 847-393-3122
I can fit 2 bikes + 5 people (me included) or 3 bikes and 3 people (me included). Maybe more bikes if we get a little creative.
Unfortunately that will be the case - you have the privilege of opening the day, while I have the honor of putting it to rest 7.5 hours later.RobertMullen said:I can provide a ride for sure, just gotta confirm the timeline so none of us are hanging around for 6 hours!

Rob, I race at 11:30am, from experience, that means I would be packed and ready to leave the venue around 1:00~1:30pm -- if that works for you, could I please catch a ride out with you?RobertMullen said:@AnthonyOtt I don't think I'm going to be able to stay the entire day unfortunately. I can totally offer a ride there if you can get home though. Not sure if thats helpful
otherwise, have a zip car in reserve, so no worries.
this response might be a bit longish...Jules said:Team Edition Challenge Limus? Bro-deal available, inquire within...Mark Taylor said:or Vittoria's Tereno Mix G2.0 Tubeless ?eloy said:only set of tubulars for the season which tire would you use: donelly pdx or vittoria terreno wet G2.0?
The new bike comes with tubeless wheels, so will try to setup tubeless with some Donelly PDXs I have sitting around. These will be my training and backup wheels.
I will also buy a tubular wheelset as my main racing set.
Challenge Baby Limus is probably the best thread for what I'm looking for, the Limus is a bit too aggresive and slow (which is why the baby limus was made) also, for me, Challenge tires barely last one season.
Have discovered that mud threads are better overall (rather than intermediate chevrons) -- PDX is the perfect combo of durability and thread (works on mud, but not too slow) except their tubs are not as supple as others, so wanna give the new kids in the block, Vittoria's Terreno Wets a shot. Good on mud, apparently supple, hopefully not too slow.
as a sidenote for running clinchers, the donelly PDX are literally the softest rubber ever, better than most any clinchers. Ironically, their tubs and tubeless have harsher/stronger/less supple sidewalls.
