You left off one of the unstoppable forces of the past month or two that is likely to throw a wrench in your KCC Cx champs predictions. That's right, none other than Marc "I'm a new papa but still get to travel out of state for cx races cause my wife is awesome" Bertucco. This guy is hot off two wins an could is likely to be on or just off the podium. Perhaps you got distracted by the glare off Krystal Ball's pearly whites, but don't count that guy out.

So here is my story....I raced SCCX on 11/25 with Patrick in the 40+ Cat
4 field. As he said in his race report, we did not wait around for
results because we were quite cold enough already thank you very much.
When the results were posted two days later, I was placed 12th. I
noticed that the 11th place rider was recorded as one lap down, but was
placed ahead of me. Patrick had told me after the race that the rider
ahead of me was one down. For a couple days i did nothing, but then
decided to try to correct it because my goal for my first serious (for
me) cross season was to finish in the top 50% of a majority of my races
as posted on crossresults.com. Well, a few e-mails to the race director
and bikereg were able to get it straightened out, and I am now recorded
as 11th for that race. No big deal in the grand scheme of things, but
now my personal goal for the season will more than likely be achieved.
Moral of the story is, if you feel that you have been wronged, you can
get it fixed without too much trouble. It took me barely 12 hours (6 of
which I was asleep) to get the race director, USAC, NJCC, and
crossresults to make the correction. The race promoter wants to fix it,
because USAC issues them the permit (and they want one again next year),
and USAC wants it fixed because they issue the permit. See you guys

Hotlist can't believe it's over. An amazing season of cyclo-cross racing capped off by the world's most epic and glorious race of them all, the Kissena Club Championship. It brought great joy and pain to the world.
Now, in this final Hotlist of the season, we're only talking about those of you who are hot. And if you raced the club championships, you are hot. The rest of you are not. YOU ARE NOT HOT. I don't care if you racked up 2 podiums in 2 days, or raced 15 times in multiple categories on both days, or raced in borrowed Christmas clogs or ballet slippers. You are still not hot.
Hotlist, if pressed, may describe you as, "lukewarm." HOT is reserved for those who got up early in the morning, found their fiddly bits, wrapped them in some warm Champion System fleecy lycra and took the true measure of their manliness.
Lined up in reverse order of crossresults (as it should be), the gladiators stood tall as angry and idle officials were unaware of our impending shenanigans. Whitey took out it "white hot" yo and put to rest any notion that this would be some parade lap formality.
- Eric Ragot. While hotlist would like to relegate him to last place for bringing a pit bike to the race, that would just be wrong. Can anyone stop him? The answer is no. No one on Kissena in a straight-up bare knuckled fist fight was able to knock him off his high hors....Full-tilt Boogie this year. So he goes into the off season with a number 1 shaped target shaved into his back.
- Joe Mueller. A few more performances like this one and HCI (Hotlist Cyclist International) is going to have to take a closer look at his bike looking for secret motors in his seat-tube. A fully-operational Mueller is going to be a dangerous weapon in the Cat 3s next year.
- JP Partland. Family man duties and an aversion to traveling more than 38 minutes to a cross race, have kept JP away from most cross races these past few years, and 1/2 of the ones he does get to, he picks the wrong category to race in, or gets a flat, or something. So when he puts together a total-package performance beating strong, rock solid riders like Todd McLoughlin, Mike Perlberg and Patrick Grehan, Hotlist has to give him a hearty bro-hug heading into the off season.
- Todd McLoughlin. The Gentleman Lawyer didn't have his finest race performance, but considering he and Myles have been living out of their individual matching Volkswagen Jetta's this past week setting up courses, fighting the park permit men, Hotlist is still impressed at his solid finish. He would also like to remind everyone that he is still hotter than everyone on this list below, plus way hotter than you guys who didn't come out to play at all.
- Mike Perlberg. Hoping to school his clubmates on how to take on way too much Supercross organizational responsibility and still kick ass on an early Sunday morning, "Teach" pretty much succeeded with a solid mid-pack result that seems about right. Plus, he didn't bring a pit bike.
- Myles Romanow. For chrissssakes...how does he do that? Numbers 7 through 11 on this list might consider retiring from the sport altogether. Hotlist got the low-down on Myles' super secret training plan from his lovely lady friend during course tear-down, and it seems that the trick here is to ride your cross bike precisely 2 times in the last year. 2 times beeyotches!
- Patrick Grehan. One of the team's top cat 4 crossers this year was in the hunt and came closest of the rest to beating Myles. So...I guess we'll let him race next year after all. Plus, dude was one of the volunteer crew helping make sure the weekend went smoothly, so he earns Hotlist props for that reason alone.
- Jeff White. Truthfully, Hotlist would like to send Whitey off to the naughty corner with Ragot's pit bike for setting a scorching pace the first 1/2 lap ensuring certain marginal crossers with snarky alter egos never had much of a shot at cracking the top 1/2 of this field. However, many a great cross career began by killing the hole shot and eventually developing the fitness and skills to hold onto that blistering early pace for longer and longer until suddenly you are a last-lap contender.
- Jim Nelson. Steady. Dude is steady. 2011 was probably a better cross year for Nelson results wise, but this year Hotlist could see flashes of cross studliness just below the surface as he calmly rode up to Bertucco's wheel and put in a powerful move in the Swamps of MiniGolfistan that made Bertucco want to cry as he got passed and gapped for good.
- Marc Bertucco. Dude wins the "What the what?" award for the weekend.
- Daniel Hubbard. Hubs wins the "Chillaxed" award for the weekend. No matter what his result, he is clearly enjoying himself and never outwardly whiney-complainy like Bertucco. But he and White share the powerful and impressive starting powers, followed by a toxic fade that must be treated with some anti-fungal meds or something.

So, real quick rundown of my races this weekend. I was 4th in the 2/3/4 on Saturday, 4th in the Club Championship and 10th in the 2/3/4 on Sunday.
Saturday's race was my best of the year - almost 40 crossresults points lower than my next lowest point score. For much of the race, I was in 5th slowly catching the guy in 4th. I caught 4th with 3 laps to go, rode with him for a lap, then attacked and dropped him right before the hairpin by the mini golf. I put 20 seconds into him over the next lap and a half. Not too shabby. There is always room for improvement, but I was pretty happy with this one.
In the Club Championship race I was in 2nd or 3rd for most of the race. JP passed me for 3rd about half way through the last lap, got a gap, and that was all she wrote. I couldn't close it down.
After Saturday, 10th in the 2/3/4 was a bit disappointing. I was in and out of a group of 7 -representing 5th through 11th - for most of the race. It would have been great to finish at the front of that group, rather than the back, but I needed to be stronger and faster to do that. I should not be too disappointed though. My time gap to the winner was actually one second smaller on Sunday than on Saturday. If this were a stage race, I'd be all set.
That's it for me for this year. All in all, it was a very fun. I'm already looking forward to next year.

I was riding my trainer while watching live this morning. It was a great race. Stybar thoroughly apologized later on. He said he lost his balance. Together with Nys' low-speed catastrophe, its all par for the course.
