thanks for the heads up Marc, ill get on it. Also thanks for the transfer Rick, you da man!
Another call for housing at Gloucester!

We've got room for 3 more adults in a gorgeous house about 5 miles from the race site. Our cost will be lower than most local lodgings (except, of course, the side-of-the highway flea motels). We've got the place Fri afternoon through Monday (!) morning, so leisurely postrace showers are included. We'll likely host a team meal or two, but please let me know if you want to reserve a spot to lay your head in our sweet rental house.

Sorry VT crew; I can to my senses late last night and realized I didn't want 12 hours of driving this weekend.

Great clinic today. A lot of work on high speed turns, good skills work.
Perhaps the greatest name for an aluminum bike EVER....

Quick iPad update from Vermont. Jules bailed, so it was left to Bertucco and new club member Nelson Martins to represent the Kissena colors. Racing in the "open" 4/5 field Martins cruised to 11th and 12th places finishes on a climbing, wet and muddy courses on day 1 and 2 respectively. Bertucco got confirmation that he is indeed running on weak-sauce with 24th and 25th place finishes in the old guy cat 4/5. (Of course the winner on both days came into the weekend with 350 crossresults.com ranking points, making him either a giant sandbagger, douchebag or both.)
I know it has nothing to do with 'cross....but I figured this was the most active thread right now, and it doesn't get any better than this!
Took some video of dismounts and barriers at Nittany and figured I would share:

It must make a world of difference having a light bike versus a 20 pounder.. They lift those bikes with ease.. (Or I just need more upper body strength). Lol

Oh, BTW: thanks for the cx practice on Sat. I learned a lot:

- I corner better to the right than left.
- If I run <30psi in my tubeless tires, I will shortly be running 10psi due to burping.
- If I run 10psi, I will fall.  A lot.  Finally popped my road-rash cherry, though!
- I need to get better at my barrier footwork, although remounting is going well

Had to run when I snapped my chain (see gear thread) but all in all it was super useful.
HOLY SCHNIKEY!

Sven Nys to ride for Trek in 2014!!!

Anybody doing Iron Cross / did anyone do it last year?  Tempted.

Also, there are prizes for the first CX bike across the finish line.

Uhm...looking at the race-predictor for Gloucester, I come across this entry for the cat 4/5 35+ race:

118. Dean WarehamGalaxie 500Unknown

Holy schnikey...for reals? I used to race with the lead guitar dude from some 90s super band back in the day, but front man Dean Wareham from one of the all time great alt-bands?
maybe he got the cross bug from having spent time in PDX...?

I'd like to imagine that there are more than a few musicians who race the Crusade there.

Is it just me, or does that fork have biceps?

I can't wait to find out

Not sure if I'm going to have the time/energy to write my own report about Green Mountain CX, but here's a blog from the guy behind crossresults.com who also races the elite events:

Not only does that guy race fast; he just decimated my idea of a quality race report.  Time to head back to the woodshed.

(although I do think rubbing elbows with Todd Wells counts as some kind of race-report doping; how can you
not have a good report when you're bumping elbows and or crashing with the stars?)

Hey, free stream for cross vegas:

Never mind...that link goes to 2012. Apparently you have to pay to watch this year.
No you don't...

I like the audacity of a white saddle/bartape combo.

"Total folly"

Is anyone interested in splitting a hotel for independence cross (formerly beacon) weekend? It looks like they're having 2 races at the same park Saturday and Sunday.

There are lots of affordable hotels in Vineland NJ about 10 miles away. The hampton inn and suites has a 2-queen bed plus sofabed w/ kitchenette that we could easily put 3 folks into  It's $110 per night. There are other cheaper hotel options as well. I'm mostly looking to Stay Saturday night, but if 2 folks wants to head down Friday night as well I might be up for that.

This is one of my favorite cross races. Sandy trails, big staircase run, beach ride/run. Very fun overall. They have a Cat 4 Master 40+  field for you sandbagging old guys.

Let me know.

You just don't get interviews like this with Roadies...
