I like that the 4/5 35+ race is now a 4/5 40+ race.

I'm on the fence about this one......work/money(car buying) concerns might not make it feasible.

Am I correct in the belief that they use crossresults for callups?
Edit: It says right at the bottom of the page that that's what they do.

Interesting about the category shift. Slightly different from when it was Verge/Shimano. While the move to 40+ master is notable, more interesting to me is that they have a combined Cat 2/3 field, which will give the "scrub zone" Cat 2s who normally have to race UCI Elite in New England a chance to race at the front of the field. Also, not surprisingly, but significantly, in order to bolster their World Cup bid, they have included a separate UCI Junior field, with it's own start.

In addition to the Providence venue/race being super family friendly, what I've always liked about this course is that it has a lot of interesting course features and technical elements without being ridiculous. Of course, when asked about the course (and Euro vs USA in general), Myerson guffawed and said the Providence course was so easy he could ride it hands-free.

Look to Gogun/Fries to add more challenging technical elements/sections that are UCI ELITE only, while us mere mortals will likely get a similar course from year's past.

Anyway, this race is always a "can't miss" for me. Money wise, if I had to skip two weekends of local Jersey/Connecticut races to pay for Providence I would. Usually a respectable appearance of KCC racers, although for an event of this stature, 3 hours away, I used to think more KCC riders should go. (Now I have more of a "you should go to whichever races you think are going to be fun/affordable/whatever" attitude.)

As far as crossresults call ups, yes, as you've noted. But also, don't leave it to the last minute to register just because it doesn't matter for staging. Because while this won't sell out within weeks of opening (as Gloucester has for almost all categories currently), it usually is very close to capacity on race day.

Wow.  I can hardly wait.  I'm thinking Holy Week will be my last Cat 4 CX race before I upgrade, unless I get "forced" up earlier (high class problem, I know)

How about that Madison?  How many Cat 4/5 teams can KCC throw down with?  Would be sweet to make it an informal team thunderdome.

(not that categories are mandatory - just seemed more sporting than a sprint to sign up a ringer...)

My GF is pressuring me to go out to Chicago the week after Providence for her best friend's 40th birthday surprise party which is going to be at a cabin somewhere  I'd get a chance to meet the rest of her friends who've "heard so much about you(me)".... yada yada.

But, I'm signed up for Whirlybird and Cooper Rive that weekend. I was the first one to reg for the 4/5s at Whirlybird so I'd get called up to the line first.The GF gets that this a kind of a big deal and knows that I missed some racing last cx season taking trips out to Chicago for other 40th bday parties. But I might acquiesce in the name of domestic bliss with a quid pro quo understanding whereby  she is cool with me racing Providence and other big out of town races.

I'm racing the 4/5s Saturday and Sunday but not spending the night there. We could drive down together. I've already got a zipcar reserved for Sunday and have a rack that accommodates 3 bikes

Damn this is filling fast.  Four minutes in, 350 reg'd.

I want to do Providence but I don't think I'll have a bike by then (waiting for 2015 Cannondales as well as the alignment of several stars).  I would be doing the 8 AM men's 4/5.  Does anyone have a ~52cm pit bike that they would be willing to lend me on race day?  Or, dare I say, for practice between now and then?  I don't know how to dismount.

So far we've got 9 Kissenas registered. In light of Marc's experience last year, I was thinking that having a tent might ad a measure of security/bike theft deterrence. Having all of our bikes in one place, when they're not locked away in our motel rooms or cars, in close proximity to other teams might be a good idea.

^Depends where the tent is.  Last year it was pretty close to VanDessel's truck.  For what it's worth, and this is a super secret pro-tip; if you ever need to stash something in "desperation" like an extra pair of wheels or a jacket; the VD truck isn't the worse place to try.  Just be sure to ask first
