Horseshoe Scramble has been rescheduled to 11/1…previously slated to happen on 9/21……got the word via email from the director
Or rather there is no more Horseshoe Scramble. He wrote me back a 2nd time and said there are going to be no more events there. Craigmeur is the new venue Wherever that is
It's been a few years, but Craigmer is cool ski resort, maybe 40 min from the city... we have raced there before:

These sets are not particularly descriptive, but were taken there. Pretty low key, with a cool super long staircase run up, a very sweet local level type course.

That race was, I believe, Chabanov's first 'cross race.  (It was also the only 'cross race I've ever dnf'd.  I was demoralized after having been lapped twice by Roger Aspholm...and I had a coughing fit..okay?.)
That was my first also , didn't do as well as Chabonov ,
When did Clint Eastwood race for Kissena?

Clint has a way of doing that. Showing to Gloucester without any notice on the forum (how dare he?), starting at the back of the field, racing past 1/2 of them, being bummed he didn't "do better." And then disappearing behind a camera and a white sail with a mind of it's own.
Best news I've read today:

"n the middle of November, Pro CX action will take place in Iowa City, Iowa, as the 3 Day Carousel Volkswagen Jingle Cross is slated for November 14-16. Riders will then travel to Stony Point, New York, to compete in Supercross Cup 1 and 2, on November 22-23. The following weekend, riders can burn off those Thanksgiving calories on either coast with the CXLA weekend in Los Angeles or the Baystate Cyclocross in Sterling, Massachusetts. Both races are scheduled for November 29-30."

Bummed I have to miss this. High quality racing (lots of climbing) very close to the city. A good friend of mine is getting married that weekend in Chicago.

WTF, I'm in my 40s already, all my friends are supposed to be done getting married and shit?!?! #thingsIdontmissaboutmy20s30s
embrocation shelf life? got a pretty robust collection, but all about 5 years old, cause I've been out that long. keep or get a new?
Try it does it still heat and not smell like a dead whale, then you're good.

Maybe invest in an embrocation cellar. I hear some of those New England guys have 20 year old embros they keep at cross temps year round.

Is anyone else doing Charm City CX?

I'm looking into booking hotels / airBnB / planning travel.

I am, as we chatted.

If possible, please include me in your plans. Happy to share car and hotel/airBnB expenses.

I have a 12noon start on Saturday (35+ vs. Bertucco) and a 11am start on Sunday.

7pm on randalls island

Mud this weekend??????? Fuck yeah!!!!!

Cross posting. I've written an essay. An editor wants pictures (my words are never enough...). Of folks riding their cross bikes in/around the city. Help a brother out? Send to: marcbertucco@yahoo.com

I know we have them. Someone bring a camera to Randalls island practice and get a picture of Chabanov Brittlee with skyscrapers in the background?

Someone go riding with Garrigan and get a shot of him riding some PP peloton Punk into the barriers?

Or something...

Thanks!

Anybody doing the out n back for nittany? Doing the b race, so looking at a midday arrival both days

But the good news is, the photog who was at the Rapha Women's ride was there snapping away all night. I'm sure he got AMAZING shots - get in touch with him and see what kind of deal you can work out.
Who dat? Name? Website? Any clues?

If you are getting paid for this essay, better get ready to pay whoever gives you a photo.
I don't expect to get paid. In fact, last year when I wrote a race report for Supercross...straight news reporting, I think they wanted us to pay them to publish it.

Myles took over, not sure if we paid up, or they realized that they are supposedly a magazine/website that reports on all things CX, and just published it "gratis."

Anyway, no cash for me then, and certainly not now. I do toy with the idea of offering up my services during cross season, since I'm there watching all the big New England/Mid-Atlantic pro races anyway, but honestly, the amount of work versus what you get out of it? Not worth it.
