Cyclocross!

To counter Andy. This article describes my season quite precisely:
http://pelotonmagazine.com/the-ring/wankmeister-you-racing-cross-this-year/

This race followed the typical ‘cross life cycle: Huge rush of adrenaline followed by massive effort followed by incredulity at not getting immediately dropped followed by getting dropped followed by falling off my bike... followed by hearing the depressing sound of “four laps to go” when one lap hurts more than having a wooden stick bored into your ear followed by hopelessness followed by anger followed by despair...

Is anyone driving out for the marty cx cat4 race on saturday?
@Wes, I'm racing the Cat 5, and looking for a ride as well.
I'm useless this weekend, as I'm staying with my in-laws in Jersey.
Eloy, Wes, and Jesse. I can offer you guys a ride. Jesse can you send me you number. We'll collaborate later

Yeehaw, thanks Nelson! I'll message you my number now.

Hotlist No.8 2014

Hotlist has to be honest. Normally he gets to see most of you tough it out at the weekend's biggest cross races. And that helps keep the Hotlist for-reals. Unfortunately, this past weekend he was too busy stuffing his face with Chicago deep dish, and fighting off tremors from CXisBoss withdrawal with Whiskey Sours to watch it all go down at HPCX.

Still with its challenging, climbing heavy course, in very nearby New Jersey, KCC racers were out in full force and results still tell a pretty good tale. Let’s take a look at the hottest racers still wearing orange and blue.

1.   Michael Perlberg. 18th and 13th place finishes in the maddeningly complicated Cat 2/3/4 field ensure, nay, DEMAND that Mike keeps his crown for another week.

2.   Jim Feehan. The quiet man hasn’t written a report. No one is talking. We may never know his secret. Whatever it was, it payed off in the 55+ category. Day 1 he cracks off a 4th place. Day 2 home-slice was all like, “C’mon dawg, that performance was a little pitchy, time to step up your game.” And then bam, podium. 2nd place.

3.   Todd McLoughlin. Racing with a troop of KCC dudes in the 2/3/4 field, Todd scores a 24th place on day 1, which due to the quality of the field, actually scored him some nice crossresults points. In fact, just .34 points seperates this race from being one of his 5 best of the last 10.

4.   Joe Mueller. Is he done? Not sure, but no racing at HPCX for Joe this weekend. Still a strong result at Cooper River last week keeps him on the list.

5.   Patrick Grehan. Back in action, Grehan was clearly the best KCC competing in the 45+ category all weekend. If we’re to believe the results sheet, on Saturday, he was the only KCC not lapped. And on Sunday, he finishes over 1 minute in front of the next best KCC, JP Partland, in that category.

6.   David Stokes. The 55+ category was good to KCC this weekend. On Saturday, Stokes raced to 8th place. And anytime you crack the top 10 in a race, is a pretty good day on the bike.

7.   Marc Bertucco. Not racing this weekend, he keeps a spot on the Hotlist on the basis of his Whirlybird crossresults points, and the fact that a lot of the KCC regulars didn’t have their best days at HPCX.

8.   Jules Roazen. Was on his way to a pretty solid result before losing his front wheel took the tall man out of contention.

9.   Nelson Martins. Despite having a weekend full of “shit happens” at HPCX, Martins seems to be well on his way to some impressive “Killer B” category results by the end of the season.

10. JP Partland and Keith Snyder. TheseGuysss. Sharing the last spot on the list. What, right!? Jumping into CX racing for the first time this year they managed to finish together in 22nd and 23rd places respectively in the 45+ category. Hotlist would love to see these guys race more, because you know…they could be very good. But CX is just too competitive these days, and you’ve got to suit up more than a couple of times a season to truly excel.

Racing action this coming weekend moves even closer to home with 2 days of racing at Marty Cross in Chester, NJ. With 16 pre-registered, KCC is well-represented across multiple categories. Especially the Cat 3 field that will feature no fewer than seven KCC racers, making Hotlist’s job of “compare and contrast” just a wee bit easier next week.

Paging Mike Garrigan...

You out there, getting ready for Canadian Nats?

Crush it okay?

(Kabush-schmabush.)
I was thinking of doing the big boy race at Marty Cross on Sunday, but it looks like family plans make that impossible.  I'm now shooting for the old man's race at 9am.  Anyone going for this early rendezvous?
Live stream of Canadian CX Nationals for later today.

Sounds like they changed the criteria for participation at Worlds so there is a lot more than the Maple Leaf jersey on the line for some.

I'VE NEVER CARED SO MUCH ABOUT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED IN CANADA!  GO MIKE!
Mike wins mike wins mike wins!!!!!!
YES! YES! YES!
BOOM!

Yahoooooo!!!!!!!
He had to ride a perfect last lap, and that's what he rode. Man, what a race. I wonder if the two chasers got in each others' way or helped each other.
Anyone need a ride tomorrow Sunday for Marty CX I have room for 2 more

Worth mentioning I think, that he beat 5 (?) time CX champ, super MTB stud, Geoff Kabush. That dude is no joke.

The other guy chasing, Michael Van Dem Ham, spent a lot of time racing here in New England last year as well, also no joke. But it was the combo of those two bringing down the gap to 5 seconds in the last lap that kept Peter and I on the edge of our rocking chair.
