Cyclocross!

I have a 2012 Giant TCX 0 size M I've been racing like a sumbitch the last few years for sale. It has some cosmetic flaws, but it's mechanically excellent, freshly tuned up with new bartape and shift/brake cables. You could eat off the cassette and chain. Also, I added a sturdier Thomson alloy seatpost and a Specialized Toupe saddle. Stock components. Stock clincher wheels with Challenge Fango tires. Plenty of good, sharp tread left on those.

$900 as shown (MSRP $2,470 in 2011/12)
$1,200 with some older race tubulars but WITH POWERTAP G3 HUB!!!!

PM me.
Jeff, I'm on it!  PM'ing you now

Gloucester CX reg opens today at noon. Eloy once told me about this storied race. I listened, I went and I continue to go to this day. I would love to see more KCC racers at this event!
" My favorite way to do this ride in the pre-season is by riding the ‘cross bike in the woods on mountain bike trails. There is no better way to work on your overall handling skills then spending a few hours ripping trails in the woods on skinny tires, and learning how to pick good lines at the last minute, moving athletically and going as fast as possible without flatting or crashing. It’s also a hell of a lot of fun."

-- Adam Myerson

i had a fantastic ride today it northwestern woods east hampton
If I recall correctly, East Hampton is where Myerson's CX camp is held every year.
@Marc Bertucco that is probably true of East Hampton, MA - but those are the Northwest woods of East Hampton, NY - it is Myles country.
"Cross is a perfect balance of technique and fitness. Starts are a place you can work on both, together."

For the record Easthampton MA, is the armpit of the Pioneer Valley, like a sadder version of Holyoke. I lived there for a year while in college, in a terrible apartment complex, where one of my upstairs neighbors was committed, and another killed herself. Though she left some really interesting/disturbing horse paintings she was working on.

Important distincition:

Easthampton MA = Awful

East Hampton NY = Nice

Thanks for the heads up about Gloucester. 12:05 and a lot of the fields are filling up quick. I've never raced this one. I'm in for the 45+ fields
I'm in the Cat 4 35+ fields.
signed up for 45+.

looks like lots of fields might be sold out in a few.

JIM FEEHAN. YOU MUST RACE NEW ENGLAND CROSS RACES!!!! SIGN UP NOW! Your cross results points will start you on the 4th row. You can work with that!
Reg'd in the 45+ 123 fields. I'm gonna get beaten like Loki on a bad day, but I'll be done before lunchtime.

^ if anyone is interested in a Kamikazie trip to do night weasels ... I'm down.

You mean up and back same day? If so, that's super tempting.
btw, other than the 55+ all other master and beginners categories are already sold out.

in other news, I also found myself cheking crossresults already, ugh too early, 80someodd place both days. double ugh.
For anyone who can't make it/missed reg for Glouster, it looks like there's a new race on the NJCX calendar that weekend in Lambertville NJ. I have some friends at a shop down there, and they were saying last year that they were looking to put on a race that sounded pretty rad. If this ends up being it, complete with beer, then it might be a pretty close and fun alternative.

I don't know any other details yet aside from an email I got from the Jersey Devil promoter and the NJCX calendar: http://www.njbikeracing.com/wp/cx-cup/

Well, if there is any place you can make up for bad call-up, it's the Gloucester start. Long uphill drag on pavement. Just go back to that Myerson article on starts and start practicing! I know I will be. After a year or so of being on the front few rows, I've got to get used to about 5th or 6th row it looks like. So, I feel ya.
ugh with the unsolicited advice. #misstheforestforthetress

Right, I momentarily forgot who I was dealing with. Lets make a deal. I'll stop talking to you and you can try and stop being an ass to me online.
ouch.

Please know, @Marc Bertucco that in person one on one, I love you.

If you wanna discuss further, let's do it offline. 347.225.1058 eloy@groovylab.com

Sorry I snapped. Clearly we're both super pumped about the upcoming cross season. At least no one got a broken jaw out of this. #betterthantheJets
Sorry to miss this, definitely get up early and do the Sag Harbor ride @ 7:30am - it's a fantastic ride and can be very fast. Starts and finishes in Sag Harbor.

Current rough plan ala Myles:
Split into two groups.  Or three groups.  Or as many groups as we need.  One group can head off to Masashimuet park to practice dismounts, remounts,
easy high speed turns.

One group to do a trail focus and practice more intermediate/higher skilled turns, dismounts, steering, stuff.

90 minutes on each group, then switch.

Then a group ride to the point and back.

After which we can say "yay", and go to here

https://goo.gl/maps/Mr4TH

Along the way we will pass "sabrosa", think the organic somewhat healthy version of Chipotle, grab some burrito's, and head to the beach.  Splash around for a bit, then get the hell outta my town I gotta go to bed.  No parking permits are required after 5pm.  we will have rideable light in the trails until....6pm easily.  If desired I can toss my fire ring into the car, and we can do a beach bonfire sort of thing, but that shit won't happen until way late, like 0 dark 30..

pretty good photo of jpows by bruce buckley, taken at his DC cross camp clinic last weekend...

notice the, em, cantilevers:

I wanted to make sure that the following regulars from last cross season knew about the clinic on the 22nd. I know that not all are forum regulars or maybe they aren't linked into this thread? Anyway, if any of you have their personal email addresses, could you shoot them a message?

Nelson Martins
Dan Strika
Bruce VanS
Harry Edmund B.
Brendan R.
Jim Feehan
David Sannosian (I know he's not on the club anymore, but in the past he's been really helpful with Supercross, and lives on LI and well, I thought it might be nice to invite him too)
Keith Snyder
Rick Perner
Craig London

providence weekend may be on the cards. Gloucester is out. My wife and I are going to Interbike/Cross Vegas the day after T-Town. Probably last chance to see Sven Nys live. Without Gloucester still looking at 20 plus races and planning on Nationals in Asheville since we have a house there and brother in law owns bike shop in town (Motion Makers- if anyone planning on going). His staff includes s couple of the AshevilleCX guys.

I would assume you can throw them in someone's car...

CX news, Shimano Verge Series is back, but even slimmer than before. Just 3 weekends of races. BUT all high quality events. Gloucester, Northampton, NBX.

Also from the WTF?!?! files, it appears that winning a national championship is not enough to get you selected for the Vegas World Cup CX team. Friend of KCC, Mike Garrigan left off the team. Maybe he didn't want to go?
