BrittLee Bowman says cross camp is good:

You should go to ours. It's basically free. (CycleSmart's costs over $350, FYI)

Ok then I'll go online and apply for that pass.
It would take me over 3 hours to get there by train since there are 11 stops on the LIRR from the Atlantic Terminal. Forget about it!!
I can't make it (so sad) but have a trunk bike rack for up to 3 bikes to lend if you all rent a car.

Hey Thierry,

I probably can.  The probably depending on whether or not I have a cross bike yet.  It's getting close, but I hope to have the bike next week and then will be driving out to Sag Harbor.
Thank you Dale for your offer!!!
Im out ,
i was planning on being out east that weekend , but my brother in law just rented out his house
HPCX registration is open (barely any registrations yet) -- along w/ Supercross, closest UCI race to NYC:

Myerson discusses Cross bike sizes and fit, with some very cool and clear suggestions.

Probably helpful for those getting new bikes or in their first season or two.

There are some good bits of advice from Tim Johnson here too:

http://velonews.competitor.com/cannondale-cyclocrossworld-com-training-camp-sets-tone-early

“Never yell at someone while you’re out on the course,” Johnson says. “If they pass you, even if it’s kind of a dirty or aggressive move, don’t say anything. Just pass them, and do it quick, and do it forcefully.”

“I was that kid. I wanted to go as fast as I could and just race and race, but one of those things that develops is the idea of how you actually race, the craft of racing. There are the tricks, the skills, and the down parts, but when I was racing, when I got a flat, I changed it and realized I had 37 minutes to take the lead again. I was never the one to throw my bike or sit there and pout.”

“Take turns like a bus: Start wide so you can cherry-pick your line,” Johnson says as the team of red jerseys, trailed by Trebon, White, Hyde, and Antonneau, weaves through a series of switchbacks. “The race isn’t into the turn, it’s out of it.”

Recent talk on the Providence thread had me thinking...

FWIW, and just in case anyone cares, for MAC and Verge series races I'll be doing the 35+ fields.

That said, I do think what the MAC series is doing, making their "B" race a 3/4 race, is interesting. For the first time in a few years (ever?), there might be an actual intermediate category race, instead of newly upgraded Cat 3s getting dumped/forced into two of the fastest/hardest race categories out there. I just don't like how late in the day the race is...throws off my family's routine...hence I'll stick to Master's 35+

And its in morningside park. F that
...burrito might run 11$ with quinoa... Just sayin. Remember guys n girls bring a car lunch snack. If everyone gets there by 1pm id like to go wheels up by 115

Myerson's training plan.

https://www.cxmagazine.com/cyclocross-training-adam-myerson-week-plan-preparing-season

" My favorite way to do this ride in the pre-season is by riding the ‘cross bike in the woods on mountain bike trails. There is no better way to work on your overall handling skills then spending a few hours ripping trails in the woods on skinny tires, and learning how to pick good lines at the last minute, moving athletically and going as fast as possible without flatting or crashing. It’s also a hell of a lot of fun."

Myles wants to get a clearer idea of who is coming to the clinic on Saturday. I know Mark is out. Could you post here if you are coming for sure? Thanks!
I'm in
New guy here. I will be there. Could LIRR but prefer to catch a ride if there's a caravan leaving from Brooklyn. @Dale Suttle you still thinking of driving? Any other drivers? Or a LIRR rider bk meetup location/plan?
Bike rack offer still stands if anyone still needs one. Can fit 3 bikes so if y'all split the costs of a rental, costs can be minimal.
I'm in, and driving over.  Thierry has first dibs in my car, but I think I could fit two Justin as my bike is already out in Long Island.  Still want to go Thierry?
I'm in.
Yes Dale I sent you an email.

Hey Dave,

Sent you an e-mail, hoping to pick the rack up from you this morning.  Send me a text if you're available

We're on our way Dale, Justin and I but the traffic sucks and we won't make it on time.
Babysitting.

Seeing some pics on FB of the clinic. Looked amazeballs. Someone better write up a report!
Sag CX! Thanks to all who organized, instructed, hosted, drove.

Brutal traffic leaving town. Todd, Myles, and Patrick hit trails and chilled until Dale, Thierry and I showed up. Started with a quick trail ride warm up then doubled back for Jeff's arrival. Thierry and I were the newbs. We got a shaky handle on dismounts, remounts, shouldering on a sandy side road. All dished out helpful tips, instruction, decent heckling. Think I entertained everyone by kicking the shit out of myself a bit. Lost some skin. Good stuff.

After a breather we were off for a trail ride again.  Narrow, challenging (to me) wooded single track, with sandy patches throughout. Finished in Cedar Point and out to bluff overlooking shelter island, the north fork and beyond.

Booked it back to the support vehicles and shed our sweaty kits. All snagged aforementioned A+ burritos to go from Sabrosa. Myles lead the caravan past the Ferraris/mansions of Bridgehampton out to idyllic scott cameron beach for burrito smashing, beer, smores, and fireside camaraderie.

This was a great first CX experience. Can't wait for more. Thanks again!
Excellent summary of an excellent trip.  Those that didn't come missed out on a great day of riding and ended with an evening at the beach.  So much sand! I forgot how much I enjoy mountain biking and the review, tips, and practice of dismounting and barrier hoping was helpful.
Myles thought it would be fun to set up the barriers immediatly after a sandy right turn and watch us all fall over ourselves, but I think if you got the hang of that, you can do any dismount.
Thanks to Todd and Patrick for setting the pace and added tips on all sorts of things.  Patrick is a great guy to be at a bike event with, he has everything and goes out of his way to help us all.
And thanks to Myles for dragging us out there and arranging. We got back in a much more reasonable 2-2.5hrs.
Myerson on tire selection. This is the time of year when CXMagazine and #svenness become regular visitors to my browser history.
