Owens!  Saw this and thought of you... give 'em hell tomorrow.

Damn Jules, you stole my moist towelette thunder! But I also keep an apartment key stashed in my saddle bag. It has saved my bacon at least once.
@ Jeff; I think I learned that one from you.  Although after several years of riding around in my pocket(s) it probably isn't that "moist" anymore...
Reiners carries a pair of latex gloves for EMT activities (though may also come in handy for repairs).

Eric, a relative of yours??

Same surname. Apparently Ragot is much more common in france than the us. I don't know if we're related. Different skill set
My everyday carry all fits in a plastic peanut butter jar includes:

tube
patch kit (no-glue patches)
multitool
tire levers
CO2 cartridge
CO2 Inflator
valve extender
schrader/presta adaptor
presta valve core (if you bust the core no need to swap the tube)/valve core removal "tool"
latex gloves (for repairs, first aid, or could double duty on an unexpected cold and wet day of keeping your hands dry and out of the wind)
handlebar plugs (because you can't race without them: Rule 1M1.d in the USAC handbook)
a 3"x5" piece of tyvek cut from a FedEx envelope for a tire boot.

the plastic peanut butter jar fits in a bottle cage or jersey pocket, and can also be emptied and used to protect a cellphone or other electronics from rain and other crud if necessary.

Stopped by an Irish bar while im doing laundry to watch the eurocup. When Germany scored there was some moderate cheering. When Greece temporarily tied it, it was pandemonium!!! All the Irish, Brits, two actual Greeks, and everyone else went bonkers! Why does everyone hate Germany? My German friends are really cool... Poor Greece. They look so sad.

Ha! Every time Greece scores or does something well, a bunch of people yell "SPARTA!!!!!".  Awesome.
@Jeff Owens

Maybe because Germany started many land wars in Europe, and now owns all of Greece, Ireland, Spain and Portugal. They probably would be more popular if they just gave herpes to everybody in Europe.
Germany plays boring machine soccer.
Oh yeah.  Forgot about those pesky wars and their dominance over the euro currency.  Get over it.  That was SOOOOOOO last month.  Right?

Ok, and they're responsible for Kraftwerk (who I actually still kinda like, but hate at the same time b/c of their hipster-MoMA trendiness and some of their masturbatory efforts).
Still Love Kraftwerk

Can we not post videos?!

Sure could of posted TDF but thats a little to much here.
How can you say that Whitey?! they have great midfielders who can score at any time, a
variety of skilled strikers, a good defense and a great chemistry! it's
been about 8-10 years tht they have been playing a great football, plus
they just beat portugal and holland (portugal qualified to the semi by
the way). I don't support the germans but calling them boring to watch is like saying that cancellara is a poor time trialist...

maybe its what everyone needs from Target...

NOTE: Not for Minors or the Overly Sensitive
Take look at the BMC rider in the left of the frame.  I suspect this
wasn't what the sponsor intended when he demanded that the team go out
and get more "TV time" for the brand.

If this were a Park race would that be a jogger's lane violation?

So, we all love chocolate milk as a recovery drink; but is it me or is the tone of these commercials just way off? It's like a sports drink vibe but it just feels so wrong for chocolate milk. Chocolate milk makes you happy - not more serious!

Text book lead out at Giro de Pasta
This rant by Robert Millar about the crashes in the tour made me chuckle:

"Which brings me to another thorny subject of the Tour , the daily crash or rather more accurately crashes. Looking at it from the safety of my sofa it hasn't seemed that bad compared to recent editions but then I'm not the one riding at sixty km's per hour with a cautionary finger over the brake lever whilst still pedalling furiously into a gap that dare not be left any bigger. Said gap which may at any time be wanted by a desperado with less sense of conservation than your average madman possesses. Quite frequently you hear the quotes , oh it's the GC riders' or the climbers' fault they're not used to it , they shouldn't get in the way. So let me just say in their defence having been one of the accused type that it's not the GC riders who are doing the ducking and diving, they don't decide to suddenly change to a different wheel three places diagonally from them just so that they gain one place. They don't sit up in the middle of the sprint because they've blown or ride into the guy in front because they are so flat out they can't see. The culprits are the second and third line sprinters who maybe just maybe, one day, get real lucky and end up on the right wheel at the right time then they'll finish in the top three by staying in the slipstream of the guys who can actually sprint. They usually then bang the bars and gesticulate wildly to anyone that'll listen that they got boxed in otherwise they would have won . In a month of Sundays maybe but there are only four in the Tour mon ami"
So, lesson is.  Don't even fucking think about it unless you are capable of 45mph+ gentlemen.  Millar has spoken. Second tier sprinters, why do they even bother...

You just got Desperado by the Eagles stuck in my head, damn you.
There are now reports that the big crash on Friday was due to Lampre's Petacchi handing shoe covers to teammate Davide Vigano.
Hey,

really random (hence the sandbox) but do any of you park slope people know if you can park in front of PS 321 school zone during summer? (Tomorrow - July 9)

Don't worry Jeff, they will be on eBay soon so you can get a used one at a more affordable price, and hopefully the cool won't have worn off by then.
I'm getting a new phone. Pretty happy with android and think I want to stick with it.

Anyone have experience with Samsung Galaxy S III, droid incredible by HTC, or any of the new Motorola droids?

At this point, leaning towards the Galaxy S III.
@Mike- I just traded in my Droid 2 (with pull out keyboard), which I've had for almost 2 years, for a Droid Razr LTE 4G (16 MB).  About 10 days in, I like a lot.  So far, my only complaint is that the battery life with WiFi and GPS enabled is not great.
I'm looking to borrow a tandem bike this Sunday does anyone happen to have one?
