In the Summer ,my garage was broken into and my wife & sons were stolen ,i filed a police report and sent a photo to a detective, 
on Sunday i was coming back from grocery shopping on the extra cycle when low and behold ,

i apprehend the guy , call the cops and get the bike back ,

Lesson is , take photographs of all your bikes 

Your wife and son's BIKES were stolen. Their BIKES!

That would be this year.  I haven't reached out to Tom Mains yet, but I did write a friend who runs a shop in Red Bank.  HAven't heard back yet.

Yeah, I've actually done this race now 4 years running. Exceedingly family friendly. So much going on. Live music, bouncy everything, kids races, food, fire engines for kids to climb on, many bars/eateries on the actual race course with outdoor eating. "Iron Hill," the main sponsor, is a brew pub.

Qualification for the evening race downtown is a breeze though on a diff't loopy course around a local school with nice grassy spots for spectating/picnicking in the morning.

In 2014 Vlad also raced, but only did the qualifiers and missed out on the evening crit. Other than him, no KCC participation...at least since road-results has been tracking these things.

There's another really interesting element to this race, unlike most (all?) the other USA Crit Series races, this one is a bit of a throwback in that it is open to cat 2s. We'll see how things shake out for me this year, but I'll be thinking about racing the pros...and all the real crit pros will be there as it's the series finale. Of course, "fucking hard crit course" will have me flip-flopping on this decision up until the last minute.

That's pretty neat, and about time.  I will live stream from my living room, to give you a change of scenery from yours.

I envision a web page with a map in the top half, video screens in the bottom half, riders listed on the left.  The map shows where current riders are via gps.  The screens below are live streaming views.  User can click on specific riders on the left to pinpoint them.  Logged in, it will show where you are in relation to that.  Maybe see live stats of riders, speed, watts, like a higher-tech CompuTrainer screen.  Someone should build something like this for pro teams.  Strava could add this interaction.   It would be a lot of work.

Want to inquire as to the hive's expertise on DSL filters that go on phone lines.

Do these vary in quality?
Can they wear out?
Is there a way to discern which ones are good?

I ask because I have DSL filters on my phone and the audio quality of phone calls varies from good to terrible.  I'm wondering if replacing a filter could make a difference.  And if it could, how I'd decide on one that works and works better than what I already have.

^ Generally newer boxes = better quality everything. The problem with DSL is you're trying to jam a wad of voice & data down a thin copper telephone wire, to make matters worse that wire might have to run a half mile to the nearest fiber optic hub. 4G internet and a cellphone? #moarradiation

I did Bike NY yesterday.  Did it by myself when I was twelve, didn't return until my son was two.  We did it together then, and we've been doing it together for the past five years.  

Yesterday, he bailed on me. I don't blame him.  Four hours in 48-degree rain might not be the most fun (and he was short waterproof gloves, though the rest of the outfit is covered).  So I got out my rain gear and headed on my own.

What was amazing is all the people who were out, in terrible shape, on bad bikes, not dressed for the weather, looking like they were having a great time.  Think ten year-old MTB with knobbies, rider wearing running shoes, cotton socks, gym shorts, sweatshirt, and garbage-bag poncho and no gloves.  If these folks can enjoy it, it's strange that so many experienced cyclists balk at similar conditions.

I rolled around the course, and when I got to the Verrazano, I had to choose what to do.  I could ride home from Bay Ridge, or cross the bridge, and hope not to get stuck waiting a long time for a ferry back (a few years ago, I think we waited two hours, last year might have been 45 minutes).  I  had contemplated crossing the Bayonne Bridge and riding home from there, but the path is closed and the weekend bus schedule was unknown.  I turned back and rode home. 

In the department of dubious distinction, my WKO training log tells me I'm 219 miles shy of logging 110,000 miles on the program.  I totally missed the 100k mark, which must have occurred about a  year ago.

Is there an appropriate celebration for crossing the 110k mark?
