In the department of dubious distinction, my WKO training log tells me I'm 219 miles shy of logging 110,000 miles on the program.  I totally missed the 100k mark, which must have occurred about a  year ago.

Is there an appropriate celebration for crossing the 110k mark?
I'll be passing it Saturday or Sunday.
Since no one picked up on my last horner dig (not even jules wtf) i give

Do we have a traffic ticket thread?

Regardless, I got a ticket today.  I rolled through the stop sign on west 177th en route to the GWB.

The officer who ticketed me told me that a woman with a baby stroller was hit by a cyclist, so the police are making a point to ticket.

Yes, considering the danger cars present, it seems wrong-headed, but it isn't my call.

Watch out.

Thanks Dan, duly moved.
Wump, this one is for you, because #bouncycastles are death machines

^ Also NYT article:

"Oakland, Calif., an advocacy group that tested dozens of bounce houses, concentrating on the vinyl that gives them their bounce.

Lead levels in the vinyl, the tests found, varied from 5,000 parts per million to 29,000, far above the federal limit of 90 to 300 parts per million."

They recommend you at least wash your kids hands/feet afterwards.

Scroll back far enough John and you'll see the lead problem was the start of the thread on #deathbybouncycastle

(turns out it's the ones made prior to a certain date)

I just don't believe vinyl produced *post a certain date* is going to be that well regulated. Even if with lower lead content, the vinyl is chock full of yummy Phthalates to keep it nice and bouncy. Only plain castles for Hugo... or maybe a baby hazmat.

John,
I went to the CDC and EPA websites to look into lead threats.  Bouncy houses don't make the list.  But drinking water, household dust, dirt tracked in from outside, and Mexican candy do.

It could be the power of Big Bouncy.
The same agencies that happily allow americans to consume acrylamide laden foods, without any warning.
Listen, John, I don't know where you're from with that funny accent, but this is AMERICA.  If we want extra acrylamide laden foods, then by the power of Greyskull we're gonna GET extra acrylamide laden foods.  It's probably in the constitution.

Big Bouncy, and their astroturf campaign threw the Mexican candy lobby under the bus.
Mmmmmmm!!!  Acrylamide makes me tall!
Just a follow up on some discussion at Konditori after the L&C cup on saturday.

Apparently my daughter ran into some Kissenas riding around in the grass this afternoon in PP. She was so proud of it she couldn't wait to tell me.. Thanks for chatting her up a bit.
I saw John Loehner today.
He was wearing a helmet.
