50" Plasma TV for Sale, lightly used.

$750 obo
Is that made of carbon fiber?
that thing better be made of gold
when you write "lightly used," you mean how many miles?  How often was it watched in the rain?  Did you overhaul the internals after use?
I think somebody had already posted a link for another deal these guys had going on  previously.

St Patrick's day special for a cheap hipster fixie
http://www.aerofixcycles.com/aerofix-cycles-fixie-bikes/aerofix-cycles-dublin-pure-white-green-fixie-bike.html

I just ordered one as a replacement for my metallic pink Motebecane $299 BikesDirect special which was  stolen from me on tuesday. Why somebody bothered to take that one is beyond me.

I need a dumb bike that's easy to lock up for work
There's no 'That Sucks' button I can click.  Sorry to hear your bike got pinched.  That sucks.

...but no, seriously Rick - sorry to hear about the theft.  People really will steal anything.
sorry rick.  check out some of the kryptonite locks, which come with an insurance policy depending on how the lock is defeated.  the requirements to get them to pay out on the policy are slightly onerous (pictures, give them the actual lock) but potentially worth it.

the chain locks are heavy and suck to carry, but on my size frame i am usually able to get them all the important parts: front and rear wheels, as well as the chain.
thanks for the sympathy

@Brendan
I got a kryptonite fahgettaboudit lock and chain....

master locks look tough but don't stand up very well to power tools like sawzalls(?)

All winter gear at Bicycle Habitat is 35% off right now - scoop some deals while it's still chilly!

Just sayin'.

this is a good opportunity to sigh and say "Tito, Fairway and Whole Foods always have winter gear for 35% off."
thanks for the sympathy

I took a locksmithing clinic once; you don't want to know how easy most tumbler locks are to pick; masterlocks take about 3 seconds if you aren't very good.  Less than 1 if you know what you are doing.
Rick,

Sorry to hear about your bike. Sadly locks like that are flimsy and if Jules can get into in in 3 seconds with his lockpicking skills, with an angle grinder I can be riding off on your sweet ride in 3 seconds as well. Kryptonite locks are expensive and heavy, but they're best for making your bike more difficult to steal than other folks means you're bike is more likely to be where you left it.
Years ago, I was working at a fancy address on Madison ave.  The building had a doorman.  And there was a post in front of the door.  I started locking the whole bike there.  After a few days, the doorman started bugging me.  'you shouldn't leave it like that.' Why not, you're here all day?  'I've got to have my eye on lots of things.  Your bike is a low priority.  Just take the front wheel with you.  I've never seen anyone ride away on a bike missing a front wheel.'

After that, I took the front wheel.

Today I get off the bus in front of the bike store on Broadway and 96th. Usually nothing that interesting in the window. But I'm a Trek carbon fiber guy from way back, so when I see a Madone in the window...I mosey on over. It's this bike:

http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/road/race_performance/madone_4_series/madone_4_5_h2_compact/#/us/en/model/details?url=us/en/bikes/road/race_performance/madone_4_series/madone_4_5_h2_compact

And they are selling it for $1300-ish. I looked at the components, mostly Ultegra, with 105 brake calipers, and I'm thinking about the new Cannondale CAAD 10 I got on our awesome superspecial deal, and in my head, I'm thinking...this appears to be a very good deal on a new Trek.

When I pop on over to the site and see the MSRP (which is similar in MSRP to the CAAD 10, incidentally), it's confirmed. Good deal on a Trek. Not our shop. None of our guys work there. Not our team sponsor. But you know. You want a Trek Carbon Fiber steed with solid components...might be worth checking out.

Huh...okay, sorry for the "false alert." I looked back at that doggy in the window, and saw that the front of the tag had the actual price (at MSRP) for the bike, as opposed to some other number I spied the other day...so no Trek 4.5 for $1300. Sorry.

Good deal on Vittoria Rubino pros. I love these tires. Durable enough for training but you don't feel like you have to swap them out for every race either. http://www.probikekit.com/us/tyres-tubes/bike-tyres/clincher-bike-tyres/vittoria-rubino-pro-clincher-road-tyre.html
Thanks Ryan! Just purchased a pair.
I love(d) them too, but have to report that my front tire spontaneously developed a hole in the side wall, without any provocation that I am aware of. I went out to meet the group last week and heard a rubbing noise and found the tube actually protruding from said hole and hitting my fork! That tire went in the trash after not so many miles.  But that is a good price.

So I'm looking for a new ride after my hit-and-run on the 16th.  Not so sure I want to go back to my old LBS, since it's not exactly "L" anymore and I'm not sold on replacing that KHS with another KHS.

I'm assuming that Ride Brooklyn is a good shop for Kissenas, plus I'm likely to find myself a lot closer to them after my current lease is up.

Any recommendations?
get a CAAD10 from Ride BK

You can't go wrong with the bike or with the store.
Another option is van Dessel. They offer Kissena a pretty substantial discount (45% I think).
caad10 + use money saved on aluminum frame to buy sweet wheels of domination.

i have only owned two bikes: a caad10 and a caad8.  i am therefore useless in the alu-v-carbon discussion.  but i would say you should test-ride them before buying and decide if you want a specific feel.  when i go over bumps on my caad10 with its wonky roval-star-hub wheels it feels like my seat is gently, but repeatedly and firmly, punching my crotch.  this is a sensation i enjoy only when reenacting 50 shades of grey, not when i am riding my bicycle.

or you could just drop 13 grand on a bike.  who needs food?  http://www.bicycling.com/bikes-gear/bikes-and-gear-features/cannondale-supersix-evo-black
I ride a stiff aluminum bike...and what I've found really matters is the wheels & tires.  A pair of really light rims like Stans Alpha 340 laced conservatively 24/28 and some 25mm Vittoria open tubular (these are clincher) tires pumped to 90/95 psi and the aluminum bike rides like my old ti bike...except when you hit a big hole straight on. You will appreciate the way an aluminum frame puts the power down...yacks
Great wheels for o CX.

i am a member at REI and in addition to them sending me a dividend check this year they also sent a coupon that in effect can save 20% off of any single item purchased in-store or online.  i was going to use it for some hammer nutrition stuff but that kind of seems like a waste when you consider that REI sells some big-ticket items.

so instead i thought i'd offer it out.  if anyone is planning a big purchase and would want to buy it at REI at 20% discount, let me know.  it's yours for a beer.

i should add that the offer expires april 7.
Rudy's running a 50% off deal this week on certain items...

second from the left looks suspiciously bored.  all the way left was just excited to be invited along.  second from right is thinking "hot damn, these glasses were a steal!"  all the way right has no thoughts, only guns.
Sweet.
