Re: Challenge forte tires. I had two both had sidewall failures. Not blowouts, simply a tear opening up on the sidewall, just above where it seats to the rim. They rode as well as Vittoria CX, but maybe not quite as well as Veloflex. So nice tires - I just hope they improve their Quality Control.
Re: Latex tubes. I've ridden Vredestein (which were natural color) and Challenge. They ride nicely, but there are just too many issues with them for my liking.
a) They don't like heat. As in the heat from braking. I've suffered two blowouts when descending on them (not the descents we find locally - one was Kitts Peak in AZ the other down to Lake Como). I think they expand more easily and somehow manage to find a way of touching the inside of the rim (these were alloy clinchers)
b) You can't repair them with a patch
c) You can't inflate them with CO2 - well you can but it leaks out pretty quickly ( I found this out when I carried one as a spare).
Honestly if I'm training I want something very low maintenance (I'm a fan of Schwalbe Durano with butyl tubes) and for racing - may as well ride tubs.

I haven't done serious high-heat descending on latex-tubed clinchers, so I can't comment on a. I have been using latex tubes in my racing clinchers for the past three or four years, with no problems, other than the usual issues with tubes and use.
But b, I have experience with. You definitely can repair htem with a patch, both the sticker kind and the glue kind. I've done both and I discussed the issue with Park Tool's mechanical guru Calvin Jones, who says it should be fine. There are two caveats. First, with the sticker patches, it's hard to get off all the talc, so doing these on the road isn't easy. Second, with the glue patches, you should absolutely leave the plastic foil on the outside of the patch.
As for c,that's the first I've heard of it. Though a little research turned up an interesting article. See below. Regardless, I wouldn't carry a latex tube in my on-bike repair kit because of the talcing issue--even if the tube is carried in a sealed bag that has ample talc in it, it would be too messy and time-consuming in my opinion.

Eric just got a set of Boyd tubulars (likes em) and the owner (Boyd) said if we could get together an order of 5 sets (4 more) we could get a 20% off deal.

I haven't ridden or even seen a HavocStaff in-person, but I really like my 2 Skeletors. Very sporty rigs, wonderful handling, and it's nice for having been made in USA. As most folks point out, It is not the most gentle on your contact points. Although that wasn't a significant problem for me, I experimented with shimming down to a 27.2 Ti seatpost (mostly just looking for an exc use to get one of those snazzy Kent Ericksen "sweetposts") and found a noticeable comfort enhancement.

They're coming out with new designs including new hubs and new 44mm wheels. So I guess they must be clearing out the old style stuff.
I own a Vitesse wheelset and I think the $550 I paid was money exceedingly well spent.
