Condon and Fabian were cranking last night.
I assume this isn't happening tomorrow?
I'm in if it is

It IS happening tomorrow! Everyone go sign up before all the spots are GONE.
Evening meeting, no computrainer for me this week. Crush it!

I want to do this tonight, but I am in Manhattan.  Does anyone know whether the bridges are passable?
Reg'd. I'm ready to sweat out four days worth of mojitos and piña coladas.

R train to Union Street and you're 3 blocks away.  Bonus points for bare-legging it in your spandex and sweaty chamois afterward on the subway to the delight (or horror) of onlookers.
i've gone w/ the R from union sq. twice to ACME -  suggest the very first car as its always been pretty empty with plenty of room for the bike.
Reg'd.
@Brendan: Erik's email is erik.reitinger@gmail.com.
From Erik today:

"I have some new software that I'm excited about and should have no problems loading all of the course formats from the Course exchange website so let me know what you'd like to ride.

Also we're hosting an event tonight at 6:30pm with Ben from Ceramic Speed if you guys or anyone on the team wants to come in early. He'll be talking about the benefits of switching to ceramic and what the company Ceramic Speed has to offer over other ceramic bearing manufacturers. Spread the word and come on in a little early if you're able.

See you tonight!"
If I end up as the only female tonight, how would my ride work? I find it helpful  to have someone close to my level.
@Daniella: It'll be difficult. I think the best we can do is set your weight to 0 lbs (or something very low). That will even things out on the hills. Other than that, you'd have to just try your best to stay in the draft.
@Daniella Shachter‌ you can try the "weight doping" trick similar to what Bruce did a few sessions ago. Erik would lower your input weight so the trainer resistance would be lowered.
Thanks!
I'll wait and decide later. Although could be a treat to be 0lbs ; )

I think there are different ways to approach a computrainer session; each with pros and cons. I do think generally speaking though, if you are not taking advantage of the technical precision allowed by such high end equipment, then you are sort of missing the point. I mean, yeah, if you go out and race a course and go for sprints and KOMs and try to win, then that can be a fun group ride experience.

But with all that precision, why not take advantage and incorporate a specific and focused indoor workout? For me, that's what indoor training is all about. Getting in high quality, solid intervals. And with all those numbers just staring at you, without traffic to worry about, you've got a great opportunity to really nail together a great workout. Regardless of what everyone else is doing.

I mean, ultimately I guess it's not that different than doing a group ride on the weekends, but I do find it odd that so many folks, in so many diff't places in their fitness and training continuum are doing the same workout.

Or yeah, you can "weight dope" and do your best to keep up with gang. But I prefer a more focused and individual effort during an indoor trainer ride.
That sounds great but I might need guidance on what a possible workout
could be for me?
Would it be something like keeping a particular hr or keeping my average
power at a certain minimum?

Yes-ish. I could definitely help here. Do you know what your threshold power and heart rates are?

Computrainer regulars, how long-ish are the climbs and descents, flats in between? How long of total riding do you typically do? What percentage of "draft" do you get when you sit behind someone? A full 30%?
I think the highest hr I've recorded was around 170

I've only done a couple of sessions and don't remember my average power.

Hmmm...okay. Ground zero.

Computrainer regulars: Can Daniella's unit be set up to do something different (namely a power/zone test) than everyone else?
When I dropped my weight on the machine, my HR flattened out to a solid Zone 3 workout, and I didn't draft much because I was able to ride in the front.  Without a weight change, I averaged HR 180.
If the session isn't set up for individual workouts, relying on Erik's experience for dropping weight would be helpful and the easiest way to manage it.  0 lbs wouldn't allow a workout, but a drop of 25% or so, depending on what Erik suggests, would.
I'm not sure, with what you're asking, Marc, if computrainer would allow two separate screens.  Since it allows multiple, I would think it could allow 2, one for an individual workout, and one for the group race.  That might require set-up and advanced notice to Erik.

Bruce, I'm just asking if Daniella could do a power "field" test at the same time you guys are doing your own thing.
Thanks everyone for the input. In not sure if I will make it tonight or
not, but at least now I have since idea that there are some possibilities.

If somebody could bring a rag or two to wipe off wheels, that would be great. Erik does not supply them :-\.

Daniella, if possible, this is what I recommend you doing the next time you go to a Computrainer session.

This way, once you know your FTP, then you can train more precisely in subsequent sessions.
Trying my hardest to make it on time, but running late. Start w/o me if needed.
Roll call: Me, Yang, Fabian, Mark Clifford, Thierry, Sean Miles.

Yang showed up late and started five minutes behind. After a bit, I decided to sit up and wait for him. I had good sensations and wanted to work. He burned up the road, averaging a burly 280 watts or so. After a few minutes of me waiting, Yang came up to me and I pulled for a few minutes while he sat on for a bit.

My 2015 Battenkill comrade and I then TTT'd the rest of the course. We traded what started out as ~40 second pulls. Then he pretty much started working me over with his turns, so I was reduced to rather paltry 30 second pulls. It was really hard.

In the end, we just couldn't catch Adam Fabian, who had pulled away solo at some point. Very impressive. He and Yang are looking primo.
