I was handed someone's sweaty heart rate monitor belt after the 7:45 computrainer session this evening under the guise that it belonged to Jorge, who had already left, but is my neighbor. Unfortunately, Jorge denies paternity of said belt. IS ANYBODY MISSING THEIR HEART RATE MONITOR BELT? IF IT IS, I'LL GIVE IT BACK TO YOU.
Here's the rap sheet from the 8pm session. As you can see Jeff and Jorge tooth and nail. I believe, the fantasy Island course is actually a plot from ATLAS+CMS+Tevatron... the Higgs candidate is at mile 19 (maybe)... 125 Gev... a low energy, unstable universe anyone?
Mitch, Alyoshas and Vald burst out the gate. Ragot and Malcolmnson were quick on their wheels.
I was caught off guard and in the red deep right from the start. Ouch.
Mitch and John traded surges at the front. Ragot pressed through and burst into the lead. Mitch, Vlad, and Alyoshas felt the pain of their fast start and I picked them off one by one.
I was really hoping Mitch would keep asking John questions to force him to use some of his oxygen to talk, but John stayed focused and held me off. Mitch, Alyoshas, and Vlad were not far behind.
The course was painful! That being said, I liked it much more than last week.
It is fun having a full house. Only one spot was empty. Nice.
Nice work, fellers. Can't wait til next week! This week was a total bastard for me, working like hell and sick. Haven't ridden hard since the last computrainer session.
I made an early break on the first incline with some help from the nefarious Mr. M, but we were quickly pulled back by the multi-pronged tenacity of Whitey, David, and Jorge.
Whitey had a mechanical as his internal cooling system shut down; as the steam from his radiator filled the room and blinded the other racers I took advantage of the confusion, flatted Josh's rear wheel and made for the border with all due haste.
By the time my loyal teammates had figured out what had happend and Jeff had been revived with copious buckets of ice, it was TOO LATE and I rode, hands clasped above my head to the finish, hollering, "MWA-HA-HA!" over and over again.
Per tradition, seven left-handed gnomes carried me up the stairs while the Ride Brooklyn staff played the march of the emperor from Star Wars.
Thanks Jules. Boy that second session was like a long tunnel, and I got caught napping at the start and had to go redline to get back with the group. So that sucked. That and the Bikram style sweating—roller started slipping on the second climb (thanks for the assist Jeff). Like Ragot, Jules laid it down in the 2nd half and did a few laps on Hyper Olympics waiting for us to finish. I might add Jorge was trading punches for the first half. Excellent playlist Stearns!
Oh and first session was hard too. Vlad (273w!) got some revenge for last week. Ryan was up and down with Ragot (the man has some power to weight going on).
hey all - re the holidays, a bunch of people expressed to me they cant make it next week.
I think we probably have enough cancels to cut it down to one session (or none?) . Ride Brooklyn needs to know asap what we are doing. If we cancel a session, those folks will get the $17 credit back to them towards Jan and Feb.
I have setup a doodle poll with Yes, (Yes), and No options for next week and for the first week in January. "(Yes)" means "if need be" (vs a full on yes). http://www.doodle.com/mbindcew4hmvxrrn
Please reply back for each day to say if you can make the 6pm session, the 7:45pm session, or nothing.
I need to confirm with Ride Brooklyn asap so please answer the doodle by Thursday at 5pm if at all possible. I will also be emailing this to you.
So we have just about enough to cancel one session and run one session each night for the next two weeks.
