^not to mention the total resurrection of North American cycling, which his early story is widely (and I think fairly) credited with. Outside of the people who began racing seriously in lemond era, i think it's fair to say most of today's young pro and 30-40 something amateurs got their start listening to Phil, Bobke et al comment on the postal/discovery odessey while choking on michelob ultra and Viagra adds...

I did! And I ain't scared to admit it! I even wanted to buy a US Postal trek. Those things were sick! I got the OCLV 5200 instead.
More Lance revelations about the UCI complicity and a video of his face to face insincere apology session with Emma O'Reilly. (Worthy of note is someone practicing "Low Rider" by War on a saxophone in the background at :06 to:22).

Didn't Lance deny the UCI was involved in any cover-up only recently?  So when he told the truth on Oprah, he was lying, until now, where he's really telling the truth?  For a guy who boasted of his loyalty just a few weeks ago, he's showing very little.
I'm going with McConaughey on this one...He told a lie, he’s not a liar."  This is tantamount to saying, "he's a douche, he's not a douche".  Wait...I've just confused myself...damn you McConaughey and your witless wit....dang! I did it again...

He didn't really say that did he?
He  most certainly did...and here he is...In all his shirtless splendor...

Wow.  And he seems to have found a wife who isn't satisfied with his meager earnings.  This will end well.

I never thought any sentient being would fall for Lance's "one big lie" nonsense.  Guess I need to bring down my view of humanity a few notches.

I think it just highlights that some people genuinely don't understand the difference between right & wrong.  Call it a breakdown of the Judao-Christian ethos, or the pernicious consequences of the XBox generation... he really doesn't know that what he's saying is an absurd logical impossibility.
I don't think it's either.  I think Lance offered up a carefully-calibrated excuse his public relations team designed in the hopes that his fans would latch on.  The people who are repeating it are those who really really wanted to believe him and only needed the thinnest thread.  It's awful that anyone would repeat it, but it makes it easier to identify those in whom the koolaid still resides.
@Wump so we have two world views, one in which McConaughey walks talks and acts like a dope, and another in which he walks, talks and acts like a dope... and repeats dumbass stuff he heard.

Either way... :)
Uniball settles the night before he is scheduled to be deposed under oath.

A 51 year old masters racer, on what could quite well be a professional masters team, doped.

Rich Meeker.  He tries to pull a Contador of sorts.

http://pvcycling.wordpress.com/2013/11/23/doped/
I like this comment:

First test??? What does that say about PEDs in the previous years?? “According to the AAA decision, Meeker was nine time Masters National Champion and this was the “first anti-doping test sought from or provide by Respondent in his career.”

and of course this provocative statement:

If you race masters in SoCal and you don’t understand that drugs are rampant here, you are an imbecile. Too many riders turn in unbelievable performances not to understand that the sport is rife with drugs. However, unlike pro racing, which actually matters in some weird alternative universe, masters racing is like vanity book publishing.

Tilford had a good blog post on this guy. He's raced against him forever.

link please...I've been to Tilford's blog and it seems like he's just linked to other dudes ranting about him. Well, there is one post, but it's just Tilford wondering aloud what's going on.

Marc,
http://stevetilford.com/2013/11/24/tainted-supplements-rich-meeker-suspended/

Since Velonews ran possibly the lamest "article" ever http://velonews.competitor.com/2013/11/news/masters-racer-richard-meeker-suspended-2-years-for-doping-violation_310125

you might as well read the arbitration decision
http://www.usada.org/uploads/aaadecisionrichardmeeker.pdf

Scroll on down to item 5.6 and start reading.  Meeker thought he'd prove his innocence by sending stuff he claimed to have taken off to be tested.  There was some loose white powder (in one container filled with capsules that tested clean) that tested positive for steroids, but there's no way to prove that that powder was in any supplement.

And then he continued to send batches of supplements off to be tested.  Eventually another container came with both capsules and loose white powder.  And the loose stuff tested positive for steroids and DHEA. (he didn't test positive for DHEA)

So besides lacking any proof that these pills were the stuff he took, there's also no way to prove that the loose white powder was in any capsule.  And Meeker somehow seems to have thought this was his ticket to evading any sanction.

USADA tried to get four years suspension, which for Meeker's stupidity, I think he richly deserves.  But they got two.

Another question is why are people employing Howard Jacobs to defend them?  THis was one shitty defense and Jacobs track record is likewise pretty bad (Marion Jones, Landis, Hamilton, others).  I'm wondering what kind of con man Jacobs is.
That's hilarious.  I'm gonna spike a bunch of stuff I was supposedly taking to intentionally taint it and then say "look here! I guess it was rotten!"  What a pathetic loser.

this is a fun set of suggestions that wouldn't be too far off for NYC racing

Breaks your heart to hear about the Gov't trying to claw back someone's ill gotten gains...I mean the guy has already had to give up his private jet...HIS JET !!!

Man, he should probably just quit.

from the interview

Lindsey: Why do you think that is?
Armstrong: I think people are more decent than we give them credit for. I can sense when somebody maybe wants to say something. But they don't. They never have. And I'm not saying they won't -- and I'm not bragging. I'm just saying no one has ever gotten in my face and said, "You're a f---ing schmuck" or "You're a fraud" or "You're a lying cheat." They've never done that. You give people a private room and a computer and a keyboard and they go crazy. So far, things have been pretty dang supportive in person. I know that is not accurate.

Yack, Myles, I think he's offered you up a challenge.
Keith Olberman's reaction to Lance's interview with Joe Lindsey:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuLB5Xi2qFg#t=88

A pretty appropriate rant.
I don't watch much tv so this might be unfair but Olberman seems like a simpleton.
Young Lance....allegedly.
