Bill Stapleton is/was Lance's agent/lawyer. I wonder if he's looking at disbarrment.

I've always wondered about Stapleton. The guy gets $50 million plus and a seat on the T-Mobile board for Voicestream. While he's sitting there, he raises his hand and says, "Um, I'd kind of like to run the cycling team we sponsor." So they give it to him. And then when T-Mobile pulls out of cycling, he makes sure they honor the contract with the team. And despite having Cavendish, he's unable to land a sponsor when the T-Mobile money runs out.

In a nutshell, pro riders shouldn't be competing with cortisol in their systems (if they're sick enough to need it they should be benched)... and why hasn't Sky signed up with the MPCC if they're so staunchly anti-doping?
Awesome to see MPCC becoming the authority on these matters, while the UCI release ridiculous obfuscating press releases.

Read it. Fascinating. Don't know how many reading this followed women's racing in the 80s and early 90s, but I certainly remember the way Longo and Van Moorsel suddenly started crushing everyone. What struck me is that Thompson didn't go public with her doping and USAC problems, especially considering how she was totally frozen out by Gorski.
It might have struck me because I interviewed her in 1994. She was pretty angry with USAC at the time, but she didn't bring up doping. She blamed them for holding women's racing back because all the big races were national team invites which meant that no team sponsor would want to support a women's team if the top riders were going to be in national team clothing with national team sponsors on it at the biggest races.
It was also interesting to read what she said of Jeanne Golay. Golay was definitely a woman favored by USAC.
I'm guessing, after re-reading my interview, that she might have been trying to figure a way back into the sport. Though unlike her claim in the recent article, when I spoke to her, she was flacking for a cycling clothing company and had just finished working as a moto-marshal at the Tour Du Pont.
I also read the outerline's interview with Theo de Rooij. While he marginally implicates himself, he does paint a pretty unsavory picture of drug dealers making rounds at hotels to convince riders to buy their doping products.

This story bugged me:
The only thing that makes this newsworthy is that Scott Mercier, a guy who quit the USPS pro team and cycling because he didn't want to dope, has been befriended by Armstrong. And now seems to be carrying water for the guy.

Probenecid (Lannett's Probalan) is a uricosuric drug that increases uric acid excretion in the urine. It is primarily used in treating gout and hyperuricemia.

I like the recent Chiappucci article on velo news that praises the iconic 92 ride to sestriere while also mentioning doping. I remember watching that and loving the "panache."
But like the excuses for differentiating Pantani's massive drug use with his style and panache, you can't separate the two (to their credit, velosnooze didn't. Unlike rapha ceo's blurb on their site). Without boat loads of EPO, there is no swashbuckling attacks and daring 5 mountain climb raids. Then again, induration seems to have gotten an EPO pass.
