I'de like to see Carmichael lose his coaching credentials....If he doesn't lose them, nobody should. At the very least, USA cycling needs to call him in to answer questions on the record.

Carmichael could be run out of business by people no longer utilizing his business' services. Simple as that. I don't think old Chris is going to get to publish ghost-written coaching and race analyses under his name anymore. Nor will he be able to get paid for being Armstrong's "coach." The world is a colder place for him these days.
In fairness to Bruyneel, Carmichael, Del Moral, Marti, Celaya, even Ferrari, they were working for Armstrong. He was running the show they were part of.
Sure, Carmichael seems to have doped juniors. Probably even doped Armstrong, not that LA minded. Once Armstrong became the guy telling Ochowicz what to do, he went from order taker to order maker. That was probably in 1993 or '94. Armstrong was the guy who hired Ferrari, who bankrolled Carmichael, made the essential hires and fires at Postal/Discovery.
I think what should be noted is the cheek of Bruyneel. The guy (as well as the others I've mentioned) be happy that any statute of limitations has probably run out on drug trafficking. The doctors should probably be investigated for professional misdeeds.

George of the Doping Jungle is trying to cash in on his doping yet again by ghost writing a book about his doping...I am sure all proceeds will go towards the anti-doping fight and not towards his Masserati payments.

I've been getting the sense in recent interviews and articles that Lance's long term PR goal has been to re-elevate himself by bringing down the entire era. That, and a more believable narrative about his goals and ambitions (more of a mixed bag than pre bust alpha Lance). This book just makes it seem like Hincapie has signed onto that plan. Of course, even if that's the goal, it doesn't mean that George is lying here - he might be sincere throughout.

There was also the Greenville, S.C. Pla d'Adet planned retirement community/ training center to which George as lending his name (and presumably investing in), which never materialized. I'm wondering if I'll ever get my deposit back on the place I reserved there?

Damn...I always forget the sportswear company. I don't dislike George....I just wish he would confess to why he doped...for the Benjamin's and because he was a college drop out with no transferable job skills. The bits about it being a "relief" to be caught is as self serving as doping. He is just like Tyler...these guys hid behind what they did for over a decade and the second they get subpoenaed they reinvent themselves as the "Toxic Avengers" of the war on drugs. What about all the U.S. Pro Championship races George competed in? Was the American peloton as polluted as Europe's? All we hear is that European Professional Cycling was the devil...and the devil made me do it. George was U.S. Champion in 98, 06 & 09...(he won in 97 but was DQ'd for drafting behind the team car). Does anybody believe the US peloton was the cesspool of doping that Europe was? If not then George was picking the low hanging fruit and the $30K check for winning the U.S. Championships. The "I quit in 06" mantra is farcical. It does dovetail nicely with the 8 year statute of limitations though, a lovely coincidence. Not as lovely as George calling Andreu and telling him he was trying to "destroy the sport" by talking about doping. The $40 million I do take with a grain of salt. And yet there are reasons to believe. I'll bet he gave Thom Weisel some money to invest, as this seems to have been offered to everyone on US Postal. So he was investing with him since 1997, maybe to this day. When he left Discovery, or thereabouts, he seems to have hooked up with two financiers, Holowesko and Hirschorn, who were probably further helping him invest and finding investors for his company.neilx said:There was also the Greenville, S.C. I think you hit it right. Lance and George want to take everyone else down to their level so they can claim it was a "level playing field" and they were the best at it. Of course, they set sail on the doping adventure as juniors and embraced it as they had no exit strategy. They were pissed at guys like Scott Mercier and Darren Baker, college grads who could walk away without joining the brotherhood of the needle (this comes up in Juliet Macur's book). What isn't said is that pre-doping, Baker was the better climber than Armstrong and probably his equal as an all-around racer. Mercier was up there, too.
What's funny is the way these guys keep on bringing up the claim that the doping they were involved in was the most sophisticated. They claim it wasn't, yet we all know how poorly the Fuentes operation was run, we know something of how well the Ferrari operation was run, and we don't know of any more sophisticated program out there--and they're not enlightening us.
I wish they'd man up and accept the fact that they made millions over their decision to cheat and leave it at that.

I read Le Metier and I immediately was struck by his discussion of the title. It was clear as day, that he'd dope for his Metier. It was also plain to see that he had traded in peering at Armstrong for money to peering at Cavendish. The book also was on the verge of bizarre, with page after page of empty thoughts and baseless comparisons that he didn't bother to explain. Anyone who had raced for a few years and possesses a minimum of insight could have written most of his work just as easily. I thought at the time the problem was he needed a good editor, someone to tell him to try harder. I think he still needs an editor. I'm at a loss to understand why not only the editors at VeloNews, Rouleur, the NY Times, and now Faber and Faber, haven't done this. If he wasn't "Michael Barry, (former) professional cyclist" his works would have been rejected by all those publishers.
He's a company man to the core, always angling for the promotion, always trying to figure out how to game the system for his benefit.
But I am going to see if I can get a review copy from the publisher.

He might be, but I think Mike Barry is far more dangerous. No one would hire Ricco as a team director, and he keeps screwing up. Barry on the other hand, knows what he's doing is wrong, does it anyway, and then excuses his activities while blaming the system. Only to do wrong again. Perfect. Great friend of mine Andrew Randell pushed for clean racing in the early 2000's and regularly raced Barry (Andrew was a national champion and winner of several international events).. Andrew has yet to command the attention he deserves compared to mr Barry. (Both are Torontonians)

Well I have to say, calling the UCI, and WADA out on the carpet for basically sh*tting the bed on TDF testing is pretty refreshing. Stuff like this makes me want to believe in him.
