That isn't so much the question.  To me, the question is did he have an ANT+ head somewhere?  And did he ever look at the data?


My saddle on my CX bike migrates rearward. It's a slow process. Probably a few mm per week and I keep resetting it.

I've had this problem starting when I got the bike last season. I had an FSA seat post and the SRAM mechanic at supercoss recommended I get a ZIPP seat post which had a different  bolt configuration. This made sense to me at the time but now I torque the bolts of the ZIPP post  to spec (7nm) and it still slips. Maybe the solution is to get yet another seat post, but I thought perhaps someone has solved this before (sandpaper the saddle rails for more "grip"?). If not, what setback seat post works for you?
to state the obvious: two different seatposts and still slips, the problem is probably the saddle.

Change the saddle, you could even check if a later version has updated the rails (as likely you are not the only person with this problem saddle)

Else, all Ritchey seatposts are the hotness.

^ Are the saddle rails round? Are they carbon or metal? If you have alloy rails, a drop or two of blue loctite where it grips should halt the slipping. If they're carbon working parts, avoid loctite as it uses a solvent, not so good for resins. 
I've had to sand the rails and the clamp that holds them on my road bikes and that made them stay put, plus a little extra torque than recommended (for titanium).
The seat clamp on my orbea was painted. Looked great, but it needed a metal on metal contact for some bite.  Plus, of course, my hands always have grease on them so first I degrease everything, including my hands.
@eloy while I love ritchey seat posts I discovered that their one bolt saddles are NOT good for CX remounts. Luckily this was not during a race. 

 @JohnMalcolmsoncarbon rails sounds like a disaster waiting to happen in CX. No these are Aliu rails. I will try the loctite idea. Thanks!

@bruce funny how everything I touch gets grease on it white bar tape is rarely clean for long on my bike.
You could also try the no-slip carbon paste.  It feels gritty but its said that under a microscope the "grit" is actually pliable microscopic orbs

Yep, my CAAD10 frame came with a little packet of carbon paste for the stem and seat post.  Dabbed a little on each and no problems.  Then again I never did a control ride without the paste.

For the cross nerds who still race clinchers, when I checked my PSI before the race with my fancy gauge, I was 31 in the front, 32 in the back. Normally I wouldn't feel all that comfortable going that low, but I last pumped them up to 40 last night, the latex tube leaked down to that today, and that's what I did my warm-up laps on and was like, okay, well, let's give it a go. And so the pump stayed in the trunk, and I raced on them that way.

I did bottom out the rim on some roots once or twice, but all seemed to hold together pretty well.
Marc, I know it's gauche to ask publicly but how much did you weigh today all combined?
Marc, I would say with CX clinchers + latex tubes you can get down to 25psi comfortably. I was at that point today preriding the course with clincher Clement LAS. I would have stayed with that except the weather looked like it was rolling in, so I switched to tubular all-around tires, which was helpful through everything but that stupid, 180 greasy turn that Phil did such a great job of documenting my escapades on, because as the race went on, grip became a precious commodity.

Right, good question. Well, keeping in mind that this week was my official "off season" week whereupon I ate 5 chicken tacos instead of 3, and handfuls of cashews and chocolate chips were plentiful, and workouts were skipped, and I didn't weigh myself this morning but yesterday...sigh...156lbs in my undies.
Haha I was looking for info like "175lbs including kit and a bottle" or something, but I don't mind knowing that you can eat nearly as many tacos as I can. ;-)
Got some quality time on SRAM's e-Tap todayA 54cm SuperSix with 404's (no Quarq, can you believe it?). More impressed than I expected to be.  The shifting is comfortable, easy, and fast.  The blips work, though they weren't set up in great positions on the bike I had.  I did get it to mis-shift, but then they stopped the ride, and a mechanic got out of the follow car to fix it.  Couldn't get it to skip cogs after that.  The pulleys needed to be closer ot the derailleur.  I still don't think wireless is a game-changer, but they seem to have the wireless figured out pretty well.  At least they've got a good story.  We'll see when production starts ramping up.  Also working with Garmin to figure out an update so the ANT+ signal can give your head unit info.
 

I also flatted (lots of rocks and goat head thorns on the ground) during the ride.  They loved me.  (takes a little fresh thinking to work the derailleur up and down for a mechanic, and for the rider used to only needing to check shifting with the right hand.

Come on Marc, we know this stuff will trickle down. It already is with Di2 and Campy rolling down from Dura Ace to Ultegra, and Super Record to Chorus, I would expect e-tap to make it from Red to Force level in the next 12-24 months. 

You don't get the first adopters to spend a thousand dollar premium by rolling this out to the level where even you would buy it (we know that it would have to be cheaper than 105 and run for 5k km without a battery charge, to meet your exacting standards). This generation isn't for you Marc. In a decade once this has been proven over a billion shifts, and the price is aligns with your expectations, we can expect you to join the wireless, electronic shifting bandwagon, while the rest of us are already salivating over superconductor wheels that have friction-less magnetic hubs, and no spokes.

Let the people willing to spend a $1000 premium to be the first adopters do their thing, and we'll see you in 2025 Marc for the upgrade to e-tap!

Exactly, this is my point. I called this a game changer when I first read the early reports. JP said no it's not a game changer. He rides it, likes it, but still brings back my original call out in his review, saying, "I still don't think it's a game changer." So, I reiterate my earlier point today by asking a rhetorical question to which the answer is obviously no.

As far as when I'll get it? Well, you are right on point there too...

I mean, JP certainly knows more than me about all this equipment stuff. But he's dead wrong on this one. By all definitions I know of the expression "game changer," wireless shifting is the future. Is it going to change the game next week or next year? No, obviously not and probably not. But to think that the entire industry isn't going to get to wireless eventually?

Related, can't y'all just appreciate my classic movie reference with an "agree" or "lol." Cuz, c'mon, my last post was funny and true.

I'm a desperate chap.
How long did Shimano run their derailleur cables on their STI over the tape?  17 years?  And all that time they said their system was better.  And in that time, Mavic created and sold two different electronic shifting systems.  Both of which shifted better than Shimano.  People thought those systems were game-changers, too, when they debuted.    

FSA is working on their own system and whether or not it's wireless or partial wireless has nothing to do with what SRAM is doing.  Likewise, Rotor is developing a hydraulic system.  I just rode Campy's EPS, which now can be tuned in several ways, including working like e-Tap (which I asked for and rode), and all you need is a smartphone and new battery if you already have EPS.  And that SRAM's system is wireless has been known for a long time, yet others have kept on developing. 

If anything will make wireless a game changer, it will probably be this: assembling it is much faster.  If it gets down to the Rival level, then manufactures who are selling lots and lots of bikes will save money because the time taken for assembly is down 33% or more. (or that Shimano just makes up their mind--they have 75% or so of the bike market and they can dictate on just about anything they want to)

And limiting innovation could well be patents.  According to SRAM, CAmpy and Shimano have around 250 in total for their electronic shifting systems.  SRAM surely added to this tally.

SRAM took five years to develop this.  Shimano has the resources to move faster, but I doubt they would turn on a dime to create wireless, rather than continue to refine Di2 while waiting to see what happens with mass production.  And if a wireless Di2 comes out within a year, it's because they were also working on it for at least a few years.

Was hoping to speak with Campy's electronics guy today but he was either in meetings or not present when I dropped by.

My wired land line never drops a phone call and works durning power outages.  My keyboard is wired to my computer and never misses a keystroke.  The military wires everything that is mission critical.  Wires aren't bad.  And when they're hidden inside a frame, all the easier.
For those wondering about Clement 'cross tires, I stopped by the Clement booth.  I forgot that Johs Huseby works for them.  He used to live in the northeast and went to worlds a few times.

His recommendation for our conditions is their PDX.  He thinks someone of my weight could safely ride it down to 20psi.

He also pointed out that he has only two sets of cross wheels, a clincher and tubular.  Trains on the clincher, races the tubular. (and he works for a tire company)


Spoke wiht Matt Pachocha of Stages as well.

The new Stages works exactly the same as the old one does.  The case is slimmer because they wanted to more easily clear under-the-bb brakes and because Sky wanted less frontal area.  They also made the sealing of the cap better.  OTherwise same internals.  He also says you should get about 200 hours per battery.  If it's much lower, you should probably contact them.
