Those are some big changes.

The Zero adds 16g of weight per pedal, and that's with a lighter spindle. (no wrench flats; bad idea)

Makes me wonder if the "kit"/customization quality that Wahoo killed off is part of the trend toward making things more expensive overall.  Of course, I do maintain my pedals, and have even replaced pedal bodies and bowties.  

Looks like it's hard to take the pedals apart, and that Wahoo won't sell parts, save maybe the rings.

That sucks from a timeline perspective alone. Add in the prospect of needing to send your bike back to Canyon before you get the credit and boy do I feel bad for Aeroad owners

Just doing a check-in right before dinner.  But I'd think, if nothing else, you couldn't find an answer in the Quarq website support section.  I figure the bolts probably need the same spec.

Ugh garmin does something cool every time I return or retire one of their buggy products. 

I watched GP Llama’s test and indoors they were flawless, but outdoors gave some funky discrepancies from his control. 

They’re also dumb expensive 👎🏻
The idea of an SPD off road power pedal was very exciting, DC was very clear that, for heavy mtb (or CX) he would suggest a crank or spider based power meter over these.
Welp sorta regretting upgrading to X01 AXS less than a month ago 🤦‍♂️

Haha, yeah doing the math now, buying my RD on the marketplace actually made the prices sort of comparable so not to much lost. Still, hopefully this will trickle over (if thats a term) to the road stuff!

My 2 boys ride Scott Scales (20 and 24 inch) but the gearing is still too tough for them on the trails around here.

I bought two Microshift Advent groupsets (shifter, rear mech and cassette) which felt like mega winning until I discovered their rear wheels are both freewheels not freehubs. Talk about dropped right when you think you're about to attack!

The only solutions are surrender or new rear wheels (or rebuilt) rear wheels. The question is, what exactly is the hub width I need to replace?

The Scott specs are here and the specs say the rear hubs are Formula DC-25-8-R / QR but I can't find the details on these; are the OEM?
^edit; the spacing at the frame seems to be right about 5.5 inches so 141mm-ish?

How about changing the chainrings?  I see the 20" wheel bike has a 36 and the 24" bike has a 32.  As the cranks seem to be of the same make, might you be able to switch out the 36 for a 32 at least on the smaller ride?  And then maybe find an even-smaller ring for the 24" bike?

I know you went through some hoops thusfar, but the chainring solution seems potentially easier.  
Interesting idea; part of the issue is that grip shifts are also hard to manage on the trails. Nevertheless...

I know I am simplifying it, but I love that they're selling a fancy 2spd internal hub for a gajillion dollars.

Like a wireless (and I'm sure lighter weight) SRAm Dual Drive. I've always wondered why the DualDrive hasn't been a more popular thing on touring bikes, etc.... I have it on my tandem and it actually works great - especially for a tandem to eliminate the complications of a front derailleur. Brompton also has a similar system.
Yup, my old brompton is a 3 internal x 2 external. I think the biggest difference is that the shift can happen while pedaling on this fancy one where internal hubs usually require you to stop for a hot second.

       Thinking more about this.  

     Microshift spacing is identical or nearly to SHimano.  And several companies work off of Shimano spacing.  SunRace makes 10-speed freewheels, compatible with Shimano, though the 36 is as tall as it gets
