Track Racing

I'm trying to work out getting up to Forest City for a "six day style event" with Wager in January. I've also been compulsively checking on the Island 200 Velodrome's Progress. They initially projected opening January.  I can't see how that is possibly going to happen.

Also Facebook has a public Kissena Velodrome group that usually has updates on it.
@Gwynna, Joe Brennan has awesome clinics for the ladies, co-organized by the velodrome and CRCA. Here is the flyer form last year; hopefully there will be a similar number of clinics in 2014. Registration is through Bike Reg, so keep an eye on that, too.
My participation on Wednesday nights is looking grim. The spring classic is a major priority for me as well as Staties. Going to try and wiggle my way out to t-town as much as possible this year.
Let me know, I'd like to join for a TT road trip at least once or twice this year.
@marc you told me to start reminding you when the spring classic was approaching. Well here it is! Also jp and Eric and any other 123 track Kissenas out there. This year team work is going to be important on the track. I say that because Al B. and Karl Nelson are going to be working together. Also Mark Wagner is going to have a very experienced T-town squad supporting him at the Kissena

I would recommend Joe's clinic over the pink rhino one. And I'm also gonna be out at the track as soon as it is nice enough. ill post on here when that happens.

I'm glad to see so much interest!!!
@Andy, count me in too. I would like to experience T-town this season, as much as I can get a ride out there. I wanna jump right into this, learn the scene, and make myself useful. I have been living in the gym this Winter with the intention of translating all that work into power on the track. Can't wait to get out to Flushing as soon as this weather lets up!
Upgrade!!! Unfortunately the only race I can do at t-town is on Tuesdays. Tuesdays only features a stagiers field (2/3) and pro-am(p1/2). Saturdays feature a 5,4, womens and masters. I miss racing Saturdays at t-town. Super fun vibe.
@Andy, I'm obviously going to need to kick of with the 4/5 Sat races. Hope I will have a few peeps along for the ride this season.
With many thanks to Msrs. Robertson, Da Silva, and Ragot, the track whip is ready to hit the boards.

Hoping to make the 4/13 clinic at Kissena if any one else is planning on going.

Bike looks awesome!!!
I like how it's in front of some kind of wall covering representing "The World."

Flip that stem.
Hit the Kissena track this afternoon for the very first time with Kieran, Andy and Wilson. Got a taste of this wavey monster of asphalt. Fuuuun! Spring races will be a good time.

Highlight of the afternoon is learning about Taqueria Nixtamal tacos! Not far from the track, long-ish wait, but well worth it (thanks Kayt)!

Wait, Kieran's back? Awesome!
Good meeting you at the track Ros, Kieran, Andy, and Wilson.

Got a good laugh out of this photo, specifically Kieran's displeased face at the cold.

Kit question for you guys...

For racing mostly at Kissena, and hopefully some at T-Town, I'm trying to decide what team kit to get. Any of you guys wearing the LS skinsuit? Speed suit? Rear zipper speed suit? Or am I overthinking this as a Cat 5/4 and should just get bib shorts and a jersey?
Great meeting you jesse. Looked good in that Velocity Race!
Jesse,
if you have the funds to purchase more than the standard bib and jersey, having a skin suit for the track is pretty standard. It is nice but not necessary.
@Marc Bertucco‌ Kieran is back for a week or two. He is going to be at the Road Bikes at the velodrome thing next week.

Cool!

I can't believe I'm going to suggest this, but if we have time, I wouldn't mind if a few of us more experienced trackies fuss around with some Madison exchanges. I'm generally terrified of the Madison, but I've done a handful in my career and it might be fun to have that option open to us if T-Town has some kind of event.

Jesse...another careful consideration I take into account when choosing my kit is: how do I look in it? It's been quite a few years since I've been able to wear a skin suit without embarrassing myself.

Cool, I'm signed up.

So Marc Bertucco are you bringing both your road and track bike on Sunday ? jim_nelson  is - I will as  well. I don't want to take away from the road part of the day but maybe afterwards :)

Last summer there was talk of a Madison clinic at Kissena - I think it got weather cancelled and never rescheduled. Maybe we can revive that.
