The fact that cyclists lave lower bone density is not new, but this study seems to suggest it’s not easily remedied by gym work.

I mentioned this to my Doctor during a checkup a few years ago, he almost laughed me out of the room.
I have been wondering about this myself ...have one of those smart scales and I've been measuring my bone density over the last year or so and have noticed a 3-4% drop.
My bone density actually increased due to cycling, by about 4.506 g/cm³.

I'm finally getting around to giving this one a read.

What? Bizarre.
Oh wait - it's the colocation that is every 4 years?
Yeah, that was kind of unclear. I think the combined championship is every 4 years. The articles I’ve read don’t seem to panicked so I think regular worlds will still be yearly lol

This one stings. I’ve been  struggling mightily for some time - so many life changes (and children!) and somewhere in there the fire went from a roaring inferno to a smoulder. Somewhere deep inside lives an athlete who is both upset that he can’t get out of bed (figuratively) and too content to bother.

im oft remninded of John Cleese who declared he was never really funny again after therapy, but he was much happier.

Mad Pefersen rocking 1x @ Omloop. 50/10 is somehow a bigger gear than 53/11 at 90rpm but a 10-33 cassette doesn't give much of a bailout gear.

Kinda of cool, but seriously silly that there's no chain catcher, this is all likely to stop once he drops the chain -- Didn't he podium at Flander's last year? let's see what he rides then.

For sure. I guess SRAM is going full send on the narrow-wide chainring/ clutch RD combo. I know Aquablue had a bunch of mechanical problems last year but I don't know off the top of my head if they were dropped chains?
Plenty of examples of 1x dropped chains costing dearly (and then fixed by using a chain catcher)

I guess CyclingTips business model wasn't working.  It will be interesting to see if there's an even greater shift to advertorial.

Will be interesting to see for sure -- granted not always, but that a company or site is sold is often a sign that their business model is working, not the contrary.

Wow that's heartbreaking. World class athlete, world class scholar, musician... dammit.
When racing on the road, I start with two basic goals:

1. Do not crash.
2. Finish in the lead group or better.

Sometimes, in helping a teammate, I'll forgo goal 2

Both are easier said than done, sure. But all other goals come after those two can be achieved.

JT and I have a bit of history, let's just say we don't agree on much... however, this article, dated 2016 but actually decades old, stayed with me, and has helped me achieve goal 1: Do not crash.
The first is to convince yourself of something that isn’t completely true — that you are one hundred percent responsible for staying upright

I saw that Gothamist is doing a transit survey and looking for input from readers/listeners.

I took the survey thinking more bike coverage could be a good thing.

just to point out, for those that watched the race or not, here's a photo of a super disappointed John Degenkolb, the 2015 Milan San Remo winner, who was riding a perfect race 2019 Milan San Remo, yesterday, up to the Poggio, when he dropped his chain.

Let's see if we can measure how quickly this team changes from the default SRAM AXS to a double or chain catcher.
