I'm not trying to defend "Sky" and in fact the contradiction of a Murdoch funded team supporting environmental issue is a complete joke ,
what i was trying to say is that the same standards of examination dont apply to all sponsors ,
The point about Nibali and Martin doesn't make sense ,weather they spoke out about it prior to joining or not dosent alter that the fact that the sponsorship dollars are "whitewashing " the regimes
If you asked Nibali about the Regime now , how do you think he would respond ? I bet he would sidestep the issue

I'm not making a double standard; this his interview - he came out with a soggy-diaper "not sure about the evidence" as a direct response. There are a hundred ways to answer that question that don't involve a bold faced lie. My point is just that for a guy with a questionable history (and he's not alone in that) it's pretty stunning he's willing to lie so transparently.
This one for you @JohnPowell

Zinn goes testing the efficiency of 1x vs 2x systems.

https://www.velonews.com/2019/05/bikes-and-tech/gear-issue-friction-differences-between-1x-and-2x-drivetrains_493185

TLDR: 2x are more efficient.

Also, what we have always known, bigger rings/sprockets are more efficient than smaller ones.

It is fascinating that we can test bicycle things to this level of precision, and at the same time sorta silly, as the article suggests that a 2x system is about 3 watts more efficient on avg -- which is well, whatever.

Ok , what would be your pro kit of choice?

Funny this has a May 3rd date. Had a little back/forth with Bill Schieken about this.

I have an ok selection of old team jerseys, that frankly I should wear more. Looking sharp is wearing what you want and embracing it hard. The only reason I don't buy team kits is that then someone on the team gets popped for doping.

To answer your question, Canyon/Sram 100%, and maybe the AF, and oh oh Ten Speed Hero Specialized cross from last season was firah!

I had a sweet kit I used to wear long ago. FIY that helmet saved my life later that year.

hotness!!
this is somewhat recent when I found out from the board we were going to specialized
You should only wear the kit of a defunct pro team, lest you appear like a chamois sniffin fanboi or fangurl

That's precisely the point, Myles: So what if I look like chamois shiffin fanboi or fangurl? So what? please explain clearly.
Dont do it!

At least keep it in the closet long enough for doping sanctions to expire or be forgotten about
Ps the specialized jersey is totally hot.
I have real nostalgia for this one

Every kid in my town had one back in the 70's , Raleigh being from Nottingham
^ TI Raleigh. That team and the bike was pure British Gold.
@JohnMalcolmson roy gifted me one of his jerseys years ago.    It was epic, and chock full of hotness
Im really sad right now, either i ditched my Linda McCartney/jaguar long sleeve skinsuit, or its not where i thought it was.    Total hotness, it had thunbholes ffs

Interesting piece on the different types of bike lanes & driver behavior

"The roadscape appears to have an effect on how close drivers get to people on bikes. On average, cars left 10 inches (29 cm) less room when cyclists were using painted cycle lanes, 12 inches (30cm) less room when there were rows of parked cars along the curbs, and 15.7 inches (40cm) less room when a road had both parked cars along the curb, then a painted cycle lane. (In other words, cars left cyclists the most room on stretches of road with no painted cycle lanes and no parked cars.)"
There is some interesting research that I can no longer find showing (if I remember right) that drivers were safest and most alert on roads with no signage whatsoever. Basically when the rules were completely unknown (or absent) people were most cautious.
Very interesting...I don't necessarily agree with slapping paint  down just for cities to say they have more bike lanes than the next city. I feel like creating unrealistic expectations for drivers just ticks them off and reinforces those bad driving behaviors (ie: painting the middle of a road with a bike lane and expecting everyone to play nice). In my opinion bike lanes should be 'sacred' spaces that cars aren't able to drive on at all.
Ineos is now sponsoring a sub-2 hour marathon record attempt (similar to the Nike one from a while ago). They used a Tesla as a pace car for that one, curious what Ineos will use.

EPO, HGH and some masking agents I presume.

My boss at work commented on this photo, where Kipchoge is standing next to a 1:59:00 clock -- which is 1 minute 25 seconds faster than the previous attempt, he wont actually touch that number, haha, clock should read 1:59:59 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@j@JohnOlsson

The data from Australia is intriguing, but ultimately proves nothing.  For example, do drivers closer to cyclists because they believe or understand or intuit that paying attention to lines in the road means that so long as they're paying attention to the lines, the cyclist must be paying attention as well?  Lines are an analogue means of doing what we are increasingly relying on computers to do--like how computers are going to be how the NYC subway system gets more trains to run on the same lines, getting rid of the mechanical system that shuts down a train if it enters a sector of track that another train is already on.

@j@Jules

There are other studies that basically demonstrate a variation on what you seem to be referring to.  Namely, that there is a certain amount of attention/focus people have, and if one kind of system results in the driver's brain being less engaged in the task of driving, they are likely to fill up that brain space with something else.  It could be like the way people are hyper-aware when driving in terrible weather (like thunderstorms) or  like having an automatic transmission makes it easier to eat or pick up a cellphone in a car.

"...a point that Dr. Reimer often emphasizes. He contends that as new technology eliminates a driving task, drivers tend to look for other activities and distractions to fill the time.

“In pursuit of automation, we’ve pretty much been letting the technology lead the way,” he said. “Forgetting about, to some degree, the behavior of the driver behind the wheel.”"

and here's a fun article from a car mag suggesting safety features make driving more dangerous.  https://www.hotcars.com/safety-features-that-actually-make-driving-more/

While any battery-powered vehicle will do, to give the runner an edge beyond what Jules suggests, they'd need a van that could provide a subtle but real draft.
They did a "flying V" kinda thing with lasers for the Nike attempt

Cycling Effects on Riders' Sexual Health (seems to be mostly positive)

Study points out that saddle did NOT have a significant affect.

I started racing bikes then had three kids. So apparently it's great for the postman's sex life.
