Just as an aside, I was on Zwift yesterday during the rain storm and some dude flew by me. I watched his stats on the "riders nearby" display that read a solid 22.2 W/kg for at least two minutes until he disappeared from the "nearby" list and lunched into the stratosphere. Only reason he was on the list so long as there were very few other people on the reverse jungle loop at that moment. Clearly some have figured out how to game the system

It's striking that in the mid 80s to mid 90s, narrow front hubs were a thing for time trial and pursuit wheels, with custom narrow forks.

I think Mary's fear of Nike rebranding and moving forward with most of the crew in place is well-founded. Unless they're firing his entire cadre, it's probably going to be the same old.
It should also be noted that while Salazar might be the worst, there are probably plenty of people who are either right behind him or flat-out trying to imitate him. The anecdotal evidence I've come across in regards to collegiate D1 running programs is that they routinely overwork their athletes on the assumption that most will break and a few might respond well. A friend suggested that this is because there aren't that many competitions and that the difference between winning and 10th is both tiny in terms of performance gaps and vast in terms of reward.
The entire system needs to be reformed.
