I guess it makes sense in the "moneyball" kind of way in that he was probably pretty cheap and management probably doesn't see Matthews beating Ewan et al in massive bunch sprints.  Losing one Yates a few years back, losing Haig, losing Chavez means they're main game in stage races is stage hunting.

People keep posting longford text screenshots and it looks like some kind of high school he-said/she-said meltdown.

Like many "org" twitter there are a few people that can tweet under the LaFlammeRouge account.

One of the LaFlammeRouge owners/founders tweeted racists comments, so they removed his access, but then it was given back. So some are distancing themselves.

While they were well out of my normal riding range for shop visits, they seemed to enjoy an excellent reputation and certainly seemed engaged with the community.

The 13-year-old rider son of George Hincapie former Lance Armstrong teammate the disgraced former doper and right hand man to Lance Armstrong, the most notorious Tour de France cheat, won a qualifier race on Saturday morning in Athens, Georgia and then raced with the adult field in the men’s amateur finals of the Athens Orthopedic Clinic Twilight. He hit the front of the race for a few laps and finished 11th.

The Hincapie are a well known cycling fam, no question the kid has the genes, regardless of the doping past.

I remember hearing a story, from someone in the local scene who was friends with the Hincapie family back in the day, that George was warned about doping by his father before he turned pro, when he was still just a local hot shot. George was told that if he ever doped, that he'd be disgracing the family. Either that story isn't true, or George is a very bad listener.

I don't believe it for a minute. Charlie I will be happy to tell you stories about how he sat on the side of the road with his head in his hands trying to understand how the kids he'd been racing with all his life "suddenly" he couldn't keep up with. Those were the days when doping was seen as professional. The moral stigma to it is very new.

It's fun to see PhilGil on the top step again. In retrospect it was an impossible expectation for him to repeat his form form from 2011. I still remember the quote from an unnamed member of the peloton "I hope Phil go the contract he wanted so he can stop making us all look so bad."

All of these aero-consultants would get better uptake if they weren't invested in the products they sell.

Ironically, Dowsett was not able to ride his A time trial bike in the giro with all the oreo aero gismos, he had to ride his spare TT bike -- he does not mention what exactly went wrong with the A bike. Still grabbed the hot seat for a bit, but the B bike ended costing him several spots.

Yeah I saw his video about it. I wonder what happened🤷‍♂️
