I'm not the only one that loves NBX. Seems Dan Chabanov is a fan too.

Something he said about this course, reminded me of what he has said about like the Independence course down in Jersey. Natural, real.
Oh come on - they were barely moving.

Three ProTour teams funded by oligarchs.  Wonder how their wealth is doing.

But I'm sure they're aware of swiss banks.

Do you think it wise to assume anyone running a bike racing team is smart?

Came across this interview while attempting to find out if Zipp has crash replacement insurance like Reynolds. I found it pretty interesting.

Heads up on some Cannondale helmets.

This was the most interesting part to me:

"But they had not burned more calories during the exercise session in the cold. In fact, the researchers’ data showed, they had expended significantly fewer calories then than when walking while warm.

This finding might seem to fly in the face of the widely held idea that exercising in the cold requires lots of energy, because the body must heat itself.

In fact, the researchers conclude, warm temperatures demand more from the body, because it must dissipate any buildup of internal heat."
Precisely. This is not news. Repetitive prolonged exposure to cool
temperature can result in increased subcutaneous fat as well as the body
attempts to insulate itself

Pretty vocal attacks on this poor woman online - disappointing to see Trebon on the "hater" side.
Its a whole big deal. Not surprising at all.

Perhaps Katusha is better off.  One rider  there said of Andrei Tchmil, the guy running the team, had only two loves, "the ruble and the dollar."
Definitely

Lawson Craddock logged 67 race days in 2014.  Only 67! He could have a full time job and still commit to that kind of calendar.

So long as Makarov doesn't cross Putin...

"The situation between Katusha and Tinkoff-Saxo appear to be quite different.

In contrast, Katusha seems to be on firmer ground. Katusha is backed by Russian magnate and powerbroker Igor Makarov, who is deeply invested in natural gas, and whose personal fortune is worth a reported $2 billion.

Tinkov, by his own admission, is no Russian oligarch, and describes himself as an entrepreneur, adding he would not rank himself among the top 1,000 Russian businessmen in terms of power and wealth.

Tinkov is being squeezed by a dropping stock price of his Tinkoff Bank, which dipped from $15 a share to under $3 a share over the past year, as well as raising short-term interest rates in Russia. The Russian government has been forced to raise short-term interest rates to prop up the lagging ruble, which will have a major impact on Tinkoff Bank’s bread and butter — consumer credit cards for Russian shoppers.

In contrast, Makarov grew a personal fortune worth billions after cornering a good chunk of the Russian national gas market in the 1990s, founding the ITERA natural gas company. Despite falling oil prices, Makarov seems secure with the majority of his fortune in natural gas, with prices staying stable over the past 12 months."

Lucky us

From Colin Reuter, creator of cross-results. About the decision to groups the Junior girls with the Boys.

"In the grand pantheon of 2015 Cyclocross National Organizational Fuckups, this was the greatest one, and the only one for which blame falls entirely and unmistakably on USA Cycling."

But . .. Given the length of the races and the greatly condensed schedule
it was the best option available

Agree with Colin.

I think too, weirdly, no part of the story is how the nation's UCI Cyclocross promoters were down there (I think, or at least that's what my FB picture detective work has revealed). I guess, they were at some annual meeting or something. But I do wonder with all the country's most experienced promoters essentially on hand, if they were consulted at all during this kerfuffle.
Colin is sadly wrong.

Imagine if the "Brooklyn citizens for pavement preservation" were able to
get the police mobilized and on site at 4am to throw everyone out of
prospect. Without calling Charlie or us or anyone. That's essentially
what we woke up to.

So yes. Could you google "crackpot citizens groups near zilker park" and
run down every single lead? Sure. But that's well beyond due diligence
IMHO.

USAC had contacted all the right people apparently, parks department never
told them these people existed.

And when I say a solution to make these idiots happy was found in twenty
minutes I'm serious. The course went from being ten feet away from three
trees to thirty. Boom. Done.

I'm sympathetic to their situation, and frankly always think they are
incompetent. But yeah..not this time entirely
