Yeah that
The tour of Utah has a great application with live video...watching now on my telephone
This is in print the old fashioned way - on paper. Currently reading this book: More Than a Race: Four 70-Year-Old Cyclists Ride the Race Across America. Written by a college classmate of my father-in-law. I'm only into day two of the race but it is a good read. Sort of makes me want to do it at some point. Who's with me?

Ugh
Myles - that a yes?

P.S. I'll call you back later today.
If i have too.
Yeah no hurry, tonight tomorrow whatever works

Great - just a couple more decades... Plenty of time to plan
Fuck RAAM, Transcontinental tho

That's some Forest Gump shit right there
Tour of Utah - ugly, ugly crash between racer and team car.   This dude was fucked either way.  There's taking a turn too hot, and then there's just completely misreading the course - if he didn't hit the car, he was going straight into the trees, and fast.

Ha, Camelback lies!

Ha, like movie poster critic quotes that are taken out of context.

I think you're overselling the study.

here's the summary quote: "The comprehensive study found cold water immersion after strength training hindered muscle adaptation - pouring cold water on the long-held theory that an ice bath helps speed up recovery."

I'd be interested in whether it can help or hinder recovery from long, hot endurance events.
How could slowing down every vital process in your body help you recover

Cooling. Riding an hour-long criterium or a long road race in hot weather (I've done both criteriums and road races in 100+ degree heat) can leave people so hot that it feels like it can take hours for the body to cool down.  I'd think that the cooling of an ice bath, or even just cold water, even if one were to do it only for a few minutes, would drop a body's internal temperature enough that the rest of recovery could go on more easily.  (like eating and sleeping)

The study does seem to confirm the conventional wisdom that we've all shared about "cool down" or "warm down" rides however.

As far as the ice, I always thought that it was helpful in reducing inflammation (which is true), but I guess they are effectively saying that the anti-inflammatory effects do not trump the apparent negative effects of muscle adaptation. Hmmm....I feel like there will be more on this topic in months and years to come...
Nothing like vasoconstriction to help speed unimportant things like blood
flow up? Man, i thought you went to nursing school...
A little info on how frames and components are tested

Have you ever wondered what runners think about?

http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2015/08/what-runners-think-about/400883/

TL:DR - apparently not much.

Granted when I am racing I am normally mentally juggling an ear worm song, what direction the wind is coming from, whether whomever is ahead of me going to crash me out and a general assessment of how much pain I am enduring.

dammit JP, no thanks to you I fell down a slowtwitch rabbit hole, and wasted 30 minutes clicking around to find the most inane triathlete comments.

the team picks up Hagens Berman and Cal-Giant/Specialized as co-sponsors.  Where there were three development programs, there is now one.
