R&A Cycling Series

Also, a shout out to Skillz & Drillz! Tonya Miller from Major Taylor hit a pothole on an early lap and her only water bottle went flying into the field. No crashes, everyone remained calm, and the field slowed down for a moment. Kayt, in an act of extreme largesse, gave Tonya her extra bottle. Classy lady, that Kayt. But upon seeing this exchange, my only thought was "but Kayt needs water too!" so I offered her my extra bottle. She declined, but took me up on the offer later in the race, when increased speeds and fatigue made for a slightly more treacherous exchange. But no sweat. Skillz & Drillz prepared us for a smooth and nerve-free hand-off. Thanks Skillz & Drillz!
Kayt that is without a doubt the classiest thing going.  Every Kissena will be riding a little taller knowing what kind of a reputation you've earned us.  Thank you, and congratulations - now get that #leadersjerseyselfie already!

Chapeau!
Keep at it Gwynna, it'll come.  Great job to all the ladies for throwing down when it counted this weekend.

Gwynna, what a huge jump. So psyched for you! You've made the leap. You're in the pack, you're racing. You've crossed over to the other side. There is no turning back. Don't fight it. It will make you a better MTB and crosser (and vice versa).

If I put together your two reports, it sounds like your hardest moments were when Erika was shredding at the front. Which made me chuckle, because that ALWAYS happens to me. When I'm really suffering really badly in the park, I look up and see orange helmets at the front. Always.

Keep it up KCC women. Kayt, you're next! Can't wait to read your report.
Super major huge props to @Erika for an awesome lead out on Saturday. She dragged me, faithfully on her wheel, and the entire pack for the better part of the last lap. She worked her ass off, burning all of her matches so I would have a shot at the final sprint and keep that beautiful jersey.

Racing and working with teammates is awesome

It was the first race in Prospect Park for both @Gwynna and @Erika--great to have more Kissena colors in the women's field on the "home turf." Looking forward to next week!

Anyone know why R&A is cancelled this weekend?

My feeling exactly. I've been sick for the last week so couldn't make it on Saturday. Haven't raced in three weeks and I'm getting antsy now.

Construction:

Hey All,

We have received another update, with regards to the East Drive roadway/ Breeze Hill construction.  The East Drive (between the Lakeside Center and Lincoln Roadwill not be usable this upcoming weekend (Saturday 7/19/2014), and possibly the following weekend (attach, is a diagram of the affected area).

Once again, we will keep you updated, as we receive additional information.  We apologize, for any inconvenience, and thanks, for your understanding and cooperation.

All the Best,

Lawrence A. Timberlake

They also still have to do the popup lakes - the one that we regularly drain will definitely shut the park down for some time.  Still no idea when that will be.
Nooooooo!!!!!!!!........nooooooooooooooooo.....nooooimage
If there's a silver lining, Kayt stays in the black and pink another couple weeks!

This pic reminds me somewhat of yesterday's Tour stage where Nibali appeared to be giving Contador the creepiest "Is that all you've got?" stare-down while they were battling to the top.
Well...I had my eye on Matt Seaton as he animated the sprints at the last one.  I wasn't sure if he was working for green jersey leader  Kevin Molloy or not at that race.  No Molloy this weekend as he was at Capital Region.  Lynn Murray appears to have abandoned his yellow jersey pursuit & has decided to go full on for the green.  In that photo we can see Danny Innoa leading out up the climb for the sprint with Lynn Murray tucked in...I don't know if Danny was working for Lynn or not...but in the pic below we see the 2 of them crossing the line in the 2nd sprint.  I completely lost sight of Lynn and in hindsight should have followed him in the 2nd sprint instead of Seaton.  Lynn got up the road at some point and held on for the sprint points.  I'm happy to be rubbing shoulders in these sprints and if I can get close to a guy like Lynn Murray & Matt Seaton in these intermediate sprints...I'm starting to think I could follow wheels and get into the top ten.  With the cancellation this weekend, it looks likes there will only be one race left.  Lynn & Kevin Molloy will likely be smashing each other in those last 2 sprints.  To get on the podium I would have to get 2 points on Matt Seaton = a tall order.  I could try and get up the road on the sprint laps and steal points... If it doesn't happen, I lost to some pretty big guns and it's been a go-nuclear-and-puke-in-your-mouth good time.

I would be remiss if I did not say that Ragot's absence made it hard for me...he's been drilling it for me in this silly little series.  Hoping I can pay him  back in a race...rather than just at Konditori.
Tomorrow morning brings The Hotness

Enjoy - as always this is an unlisted video, so please keep it within the club - no facebooking YAKS!

Scroll to the end for the "Days of Thunder" esque blowout.
And the first time down the hill you can see @Yaks giving me a little "peekaboo surprise" with the pothole he dodged... =8o
Anyone up for a little R&A Action this Saturday?
I foolishly signed up each lap I complete will be seen as a victory
Riding to Montauk instead
I will be riding in the Catskills.
I'm in on that action, though I'm really in it for the coffee afterwards.
Leaning towards the race, rather than Cunningham. Looks like it will be a fairly large field.
I'm in.

Looking forward to seeing Mark finish, eloy and craig in on the action.
