I have convinced Eric "The Lion of Brooklyn" Robertson to sign up and race with us.

I've decided that Yacks should come race and skip Montauk. With a little concerted effort we can get him on the podium of the sprint competition.

Don't think I haven't thought about it...like all the time.  A podiums a podium...I blew the 2nd sprint opportunity at the last race and the cxl'd race really limits my chances of making the podium.  On top of that I've got a nice saddle sore I'm dealing with...just a plethora of shitty circumstances....Had I known the KOM would have been so lightly contested, I would have taken a run at that...thanks for thinking of me....makes me feel loved...

Chris Loehner is nursing a 7 point lead over Dioslaki...so look for 2 things...Chris to be glued to Steven's wheel and the Brands Cycle team trying all day to go up the road and create a break...thus securing the series victory.  I don't know what Dioslaki's play will be but to win the series he would likely need to be in the winning break without Loehner.  It's going to be a guns blazing race...so if your not fit stay out of the wind for the first hour.  That's where I'de be if I were there...bon appetite lads.

That's about it.  Don't know if Dioslaki will attack like crazy, hoping to wear out Loehner's team.  He might.  Guess it will be watching for those opportunities where a gap can be had with a Brand's guy and then see if Dio can jump across without Chris.

Veloflex Masters...not as wide or supple as Vittoria open corsa 25's but they seem more durable .

I wound up doing 110 miles today...if my chamois could talk, it would say bad things about me.

A brief race report for posterity:

JP, Eric Robertson, Vladi Kholpine, Phil, Eloy & Mark Taylor lined up with 80+ of our closest friends. First couple of laps were entirely manageable. Memory gets a little foggy but first KOM goes by without an issue - Aaron Blum ringing bell quite well - next lap break goes around bottom of hill with Loehner in it. I see JP try and get across but gets stuck in the middle with one other rider.  JP, and ultimately the break, gets reeled in. By the start finish and bell is rung for sprint lap. Another break forms (not sure where) and its pretty established by the temple. I'm feeling fine and in an impulsive moment I try jumping across at just past the former start/finish line. It probably had a 20 sec gap when I started. I got to about 5 bike lengths off the break right by the KOM line and my legs are giving out and I can see the pack closing in on me too and I decide to call it off and rejoin the field. I latch back on to the field and ride around for the next lap but the next time up the hill is my undoing. I decide that I'd better keep going for awhile to get some more exercise and ride around until about 3 to go and I pull off and watch the rest of the race with Mark Taylor.

JP and Vladi got boxed out at the commencement of the sprint and couldn't contest in earnest.  Vladi came in 14th and JP slightly behind in 24th.

For me it was my first real attempt at trying to bridge to a break. In hindsight, I picked a tough time to do it. Murray (green jersey) was in the break and it was a sprint lap. He wanted the break to stick until the sprint line and as a result they were moving. Just as I was dying and about to reach them, they were accelerating to get to the start/finish. If it had been a Cat4 field I suspect I'd have been successful. In general I was happy with how I raced, I wasn't just pack-fill and actually tried something, albeit unsuccessfully. It was a good learning experience.

As I write this, I realize we didn't see Phil at the end of the race. Hope it was just cause he wanted to crawl back in bed rather than anything else.

I saw an attack by a Kissena going up that hill. I didn't realize it was you Craig. It look pretty violent and serious and I thought that guy was crazy but at the same time I was envious.. this was right after JP came back to the field.

I'm not very excited about racing in PP these days, especially since it now costs $40 to do so, but I'm under coach's orders to race, so...I guess I'm in.

Yeah, Can somebody find out what happened to the secret Kissena envelopes at reg? Or should we all just wait till day of where Yacks said reg was $30 for him last time out at the L&C race? And are we going to get a discount for Tuesday nights too? Thanks.
