Water bottle jettisoned 50 yards in....front der. comes loose on lap 4...chain rub for the next 30 miles.  Some digs on the hill, a failed leadout in the finale but enough sauce left to stick the back of the sprint group so...maybe a top 20?  J.P. was in front of me of this I'm certain...
Good job to the whole team today, coming along!

Anyone geared up for this? I little warm up for White Plains?
I am planning on being there Saturday.
i'm registered
I'll be there...with my shoes on...so I have them

I'm saving myself for Sunday's White Plain's race. No PP for me.

Oh...I don't ask a lot when I plunk down $40 for a race.  Just 3 things:
1. Open bathrooms
2. my result recorded whenever I poke my nose in the top 20
3. sharks with freakin laser beams in their heads!!!
Looks like Kayt finished first as a cat.4!
Sean was 6th in cat.5s. Nice job.
  1. Sweet!
  2. Race report?

Great job team! Yacks, sorry about your non-recorded result. The inaccuracy of race results in road racing has long been a frustration of mine. Heaven forbid you bring it to the attention of the officials/promoters and you'll get something like, "you were out of the money, so it doesn't matter" thrown in your face.
My payment cleared...I held up my end of the bargain.  Last week I stood outside a locked porta-pod at 5:15 in the pissing rain...this week no result recorded...I suppose next week no freaking sharks with laser beams!!!

Pretty sweet to see Murray take the win. Two years in a row he's won one of these from a bunch sprint.
Charlie contacted the guy working the camera for me...I sense a service recovery in the works
Rolled up the hill on the last lap and Got a gap on the field over the top. Was not really going for this, just keeping a steady tempo. I didn't think I could edge out a few of the guys in a pure sprint and didn't want to slow down and not be able to grab on so I said screw it and hammered. Got causght a couple hundred meters before the line.
Our race was pretty steady. A couple break attempts but nothing ultimately stuck. On the final hill before the finish after some encoragemet from Yaks I jumped on someone on the left and he took me all the way to the front. I was second wheel around the corner and down the straight. I thought Yaks was behind me but that wasn't the case. I dug deep but got swarmed and sat up 200m from glory.  Oh well. Glad I gave it a shot.

BTW I'm generally positioned pretty well and feel good up the last hill.  I'm definitely willing to bring someone to the top and around the bend if they think they've got the sprint.
Jeff I think it's you that are positioned for that sprint...as it's not a sprint, it's 2 minute power.  Sorry for the confusion in the finale, I was just letting you know that there were exactly 2 minutes left in the race.  If you frame it that way, I feel like you have a psychological edge. I feel you have to be careful how you parse your power on the climb...too hard too soon and you've nothing left for the last kick...too little and your too far back.  Looking at my power #'s it seems like 480 watts for 2 minutes can put you in that front group with a shot at the line.  I'm going to see if I can get anywhere near 480 for 2 minutes at the end of a computrainer ride next week.  If I can it will be a psychological edge going into the next one.
It's official...or will be later today...23rd...let the service recovery paradox begin = I love my promoters!!!
great riding, crew.  I didn't want another early wake-up, so I passed, but sort of sorry I missed the fun.

Jeff, I'll take you up on the leadout offer. Yes, please!

Yacks, the problem with relying on 2 minute power is that unless you get yourself a nice gap with an explosive attack, you just end up with too many guys sitting on your wheel. Hence, if one of those guys is a teammate, you are golden. 2 minute power leadout, plus one freshy-fresh sitting on ready to bust out a sprint? That's what I'm talking about!

But yeah, if you can get a gap, then hold 480 watts for 2 minutes, you're pretty much going to be all "winner-winner, chicken dinner."

When I got away for sprint points in L&C on the new course, it was because two guys were driving pretty hard up the hill, then I pulled around, got a gap, and held it. BUT I can assure you, I wasn't anywhere close to 480 watts for 2 minutes. Of course, it was not the last lap.

Regardless, I'm psyched folks are thinking about working to place someone in the finale of a race outside of the scenario of a small group breakaway.
I just checked my power curve for the last 2 minutes of the race...looks pretty gnarly...avg 407 watts

i only lasted three laps , no more cat 1-4 master races for me , fun chatting with Keith at the KOM

You could keep an eye out for cat 4/5 40+ races like they have/had today at White Plains. I think they tend to be a nice mix of not too fast, and guys who don't do too many stupid things on their bikes. At least that's the way 4/5 40+ cross races were.
As per Marc's point above, I saw the beginning of the 4/5 40+ at white plains, definitely didn't look as fast or aggressive as the cat 4 race. They were all bunched up the 5 laps I saw.
For Saturday's 40+ race, there's a 105-rider field

We've got: Eloy, Patrick, Yack, Dan Strika, and myself.

105 is a big field.  I'm hoping it's good for breakaways but it depends on who is in the series hunt.  Have to check out the series standings.

Patrick or Yack, you looking for sprint points?
Yacks wants no sprint points.  Still adjusting to new pedal system...but plan on sucking wheels and giving it a go up the hill in the finale.  Would be happy to throw down on the hill for anyone with aspirations in the finale.  Been a long time since I've raced so no guarantee's are made or implied.    However,  the carbon wheels have returned from North of the wall

Yacks, does your bike have its own stable with a bed of straw?

If you want that bar tape nice'n white:
