R&A Cycling Series

I'm game for helping the team get into breaks with attacks and counter attacks or whatever JP presents at the game plan. I've never been a sprinter but the finish after the hill suits me much better than prior finish lines and I'd love to get a crack at the finish if possible.
I'm buying me some magic erasers right now
Magic erasers got shredded on the tape....used a white rag and Clorox spray with bleach

I had the same "shredding" experience with magic erasers. Looks like bleach works nicely though!
Lynn Murray (Jordan) is leading the series.  But 11th-placed Juan Pimental (Death Row Velo) is theoretically able to tie for the lead with a victory (and no one between 1st and 10th scoring).

Second is Sam Frias (south shore), followed by a Gary Steinberg (brauer), Horace Burrowes (United), Ian Farrar (Purium), Kevin Molloy (Weather Channel), Juan Pineda (Brands), Matt Seaton (Rapha), Glenroy Griffith (Major Taylor), and Hammean Walker (Major Taylor).  Definitely a sprinters collection.

In terms of getting into a breakaway, it would have to be a combination of riders, a bunch with points, to succeed.  Horace, Kevin, Juan Pineda, Matt Seaton can all ride a break and sprint, so they're prime picks to watch and work with.

Axis' duo of Carbonara and Korff are also break riders.  So are Aaron Katin and Pascal Sauvayre of Rockstar.

I'm guessing that Brauer and Jordan will work for the field sprint.  Brands might be working for Pineda, and if that's the case, they'll smother everything until he can attack--but they're more built for mopping up the front and sprinting at the end.  They have the KoM jersey, so will probably work to defend it.  South Shore will probably want it to be a sprint.  Weather Channel probably isn't too concerned about the overall--yet.

Ragot has the sprint jersey, but only by three points, and could lose it tomorrow depending on the finishes.  second placed Barker is three points down and has two teammates to Ragot's none.

Considering the size of the field and the sprinter-heavy overall, I think riding carefully in the opening laps, only making sure we're represented near the front and not allowing anything more than small moves (four or fewer) to get away without us.  We should try to take advantage of the chaos after the sprints to make moves, but keep the pressure on for the whole lap, not just till the start of the downhill.

I'm thinking that a move started right before or after the last sprint could be the move of the day, but keeping on our toes is the key.
Speed sensor enters wheel...spoke breaks...wheel comes unhinged...yack heading home
GPS doesn't need a sensor on your wheel.
i knows it.....I had the speed sensor mounted for indoor rides.....will get one of these now

Just get the gold standard. Can usually be had for under $150

My head unit captures speed via gps just fine..,it's the indoor stuff...whatevs have yet to finish a race on the enve carbon wheels yet.  They feel slippery.
Not going to lie, Chris.  Never seen someone struggle as much as you with bike computers.  Why do you care about speed for indoors if you have your Stages?  That gives power and cadence, both infinitely more useful than "the measurement of wheel revolutions under inertia to the rotational force of unknown quantity multiplied by 2100mm [your wheel diameter]".  A silly metric to care about.

For a man who gets is so right (beers and cigars the night before a race) to get it so wrong (consistent snapping of carbon hoops) makes me full of sad  :(

Pass me the popcorn, I can't wait for the reply.
I got nothin...Sun Tzu would pimp slap me if disagreed.

Time to cast off the last psychic remnants of that Ponytail @yaks and join the 21st century.

get a fucking Garmin (not some grey market "Garmink") and be done with it.

#hugs
How'd the racing go today?

Exceedingly negative.  Brands mopped up the front for the two KoM's.  Few wanted to attack.  Few wanted to counter after the KoM's and sprints--I did for both KoM's and the first sprint.  Fewer wanted to counter the attacks that were getting pulled back.

Matt Seaton was weak compared to what he can do.  The Axis guys weren't strong.  The Rockstar games guys weren't strong.  The Brauer squad was weak.  The South Shore squad was weak.  the Jordan team was almost non-existent.  Juan Pineda didn't do much.  Kevin Molloy was sitting in, save the sprint laps.  Horace Burrowes was trying to do both the KoM and get in the occasional attack.

Excitement was watching short Hammean Walker push huge Chris Loehner leading into the first KoM.  Thankfully, Chris had the presence of mind not to swat the fly.

Brands' Uhrlass added to his KoM lead.

Ragot should have lost his green jersey, but the second sprint wasn't scored, because the second prime sprint caught the women's field just as they crossed the line to start their bell lap.  Weather Channel's Kevin Molloy lead out teammate Karl Rahn for the sprints and Karl took them (they had two or three teammates in the field, but the other guys did little).  DNK's Barker, by my estimation, should have taken the lead.

We were neutralized with three to go for a lap.

I tried.  We tried.  The Axis guys were attacking but weren't riding smart.  The Rockstar games guys put in one attack with four to go.  Both teams tried sending two riders on the attack.  And when I got up to them, they didn't have much to give.

Yack was up front early. then disappeared. Eloy was looking the best I've seen him all year.  He'd get to the front any time the pace eased up and was helping.  Patrick tried going with me on one move, as we had discussed earlier.  Thanks for the help.

The race was rested at 2 to go.  There were a few moves, and then I launched on the downhill.  The race had been so negative, why not.  The field pulled me back and no one countered.

We started the last lap and two guys got off, but they were coming back.

I figured Molloy was the guy for the sprint, so I followed him up the hill.  We were a bit farther back than I'd have liked.  Then, as the road went left for the first curve, we were on the left and two guys in front of us slammed rear wheel to front.  Paused.  Molloy quickly moved to the left.  I hesitated for two seconds, and then went after him.  He caught up to the front, paused, and launched a long sprint to win. There was a separation at the top of the hill, the first six or seven, then a second or two to me, then a second or two between me and the field.  I churned away.  Got caught with under 200 to go, and when five guys got past me, I was out of the money for sure and just made sure to get in safely.  for 19th.

A photo card glitch meant that the officials had to go through the video extremely slowly and carefully.  When last I checked, there were many unknowns.

ps-Yack, I understand the frustration of your situation.  But please, let us know when you're out of the race--just wait for us to come by and wave like crazy so we know not to look for you on the last lap.
My bads...I didn't know the protocol.  I hung around to watch Ragot get worked over in that 1st sprint...then I took my broken wheel and went home.  Interesting that most teams were shot.  Maybe guys are getting burned out?  I felt that way a month ago but have started to feel fresh again lately.  Next week is the L & C.

who????
Ashley B.
Who the hell is that?

Ashley was on our team a few years back. Maybe just 2 even. Like Eric R., he's in the special effects business. Anyway, he's monster, crazy eff'n strong. A cat 5 technically. Might have won, or podiumed a couple of PP races a couple of seasons ago, but then kind of disappeared.

A couple of weeks ago, he apparently really put the hurt to Malcolmson and JP and others on 9W. He posted some Bear Mountain pics on FB and so I asked him if he was going to race again? He said, maybe, probably. Thought it would be in a KCC kit, but, well, I guess not.
I was in what was supposed to be his last cat5 race in 2013 before he put in for a cat4 upgrade. He is a strong rider.

He had to go back to the UK at the end of that summer and I ran into him in incognito kit a few times in the park during training since then. Someone should get him back into the fold and get him to do a proper road race.
I heard Ashley jumped into a Sommerville ride on 9W recently. He is a very similar rider to Ragot; maybe stronger in terms of sheer watts.

Similar?  How?  both pale males who ride bikes.  other than that...I think Ashley is shorter and bulkier, probably can churn out power on the flats (at least on a training ride), and can't sprint.

Watts-wise. Similar power curve.
Just want to say my farewell to the team and thank everybody for support and camaraderie. I am leaving to FL and will be in Orlando area and welcome everybody to come and visit me down south. Will miss y'all!!!
Good luck in the new city Vladi. Happy to have raced with you.
