The Argos dude went at Cav and Cav won the hit. Look at the screenshots Alex posted. Argos's wheels are to the left of the line in one shot, way to the right in the next. Mark is on exactly the same line. It's very cut and dried. Don't try to swerve Fat Cav off his line unless you can win the hit, and you probably can't.

Oh, and the recorder grab was hilarious. Am I the only guy who can't get enough Fat Cav?

Little guys often have an edge in bumping contest.  Lower center of gravity means they're often harder to knock off, though bigger guys can typically hold their line better.  Veelers was cooked for sure.  Cav' might have been expecting more of a lean from Veelers and Veelers was surprised by any contact at all.

I watched the sprint in super-slow-mo thanks to my DVR about 10 times. Cav fourth wheel, panics when Veelers lets a gap open up to 2nd wheel. Cav cuts across the road to get to Greipel's and takes Veelers out.

That's my interpretation.

BUT, to borrow a rule from the NFL, if the video replay is not conclusive to overturn the ruling on the field, the call stands.

I agree with Jeff White. Veelers moves quite a ways to the right between frames 4 and 5 in these stills. And that was after swerving quite a ways to the left in previous frames.
But I also agree with Yacks. Cav is much more entertaining when he loses.

a word of caution to those using the nbcs tour app: watch your data usage.

i started receiving emails from AT&T last week, saying that i was fast approaching my 2GB data limit.  this only six days into my billing cycle and for someone who typically uses less than 1GB per month.

this puzzled me because when i am in the office and at home i am on wifi, so i couldn't figure out what was consuming so much data.  i did some digging online and found that this was a kind of common problem, but i suspected the tour app had something to do with it.

as a test, i reset my cellular data counter to zero right before launching the app, watched about two hours of the tour and then checked the counter again.  lo and behold: i had used over 100mb of cellular data even though i was connected to wifi the entire time.

i am not sure whether this is a quirk with the app; i suspect it's actually more a quirk of the iphone.  but regardless: it's a stupid and expensive problem.

i now turn off cellular data before launching the app to force everything through wfi. 

just thought you should know.

I sent the issue to my wife who works at NBCU in the product team. She doesn't work in mobile but knows the folks who do. Knowing how they work, this issue will not be fixed for this year's tour. Look for improvements by the 2015 edition.
