Jim, if you're heading out in the aftrrnoon, I'll try to join you in the park. Give a shout.
Keep me posted too - I'd like to sneak out this afternoon.
Aiming for about 1:00, 90 minutes or so. No specific plan except to get my ass in gear after a long vacation.
Cool. I'll wait at GAP around 1.
I'll try and get out too. Don't worry about me, I'll find you guys as I'm not sure when I'll show.

Just holler if you end up NOT going.
Heading out bow, but don't wait for me. I'll find you guys.
Hahaha.  Someone got a ticket in Prospect.  Tee hee.

Anyway, good group ride over the GW with an abbreviated JP Wormhole vortex exploration.

Most memorable part of ride:  when I bought a tube at Strictly.  How much was it, you ask?  FIFTEEN FUCKING DOLLARS.  Oh, but it was "Specialized" and came in a plastic ziplock bag and was pre-talced.  Fucking vampires.  Fuck that place.  Fuck.

And the threaded CO2 cartridge?  FIVE.
A latex tube might cost you $15, but a normal butyl tube should be $6. Any more is just gouging. I'm with you: fuck that place.
Good times today.  The hight point was watching Ross sprint in the saddle; that guy is a stealth weapon - why aren't we grooming him as a sprinter?  No good answer.

Low point was watching 1/2 the group blast through a red light in front of a crying baby being carried from one side of the street to another.

Just ate a 3 egg omlette and I'm still ravenous.

Oh, and I tied JP for 3rd on a Strava segment:

I think I missed the red light fiasco.

@Jules - sorry I had to bump you Whitey and JP into a 4th place tie for the Leroy Segment.

The last two rides have been very fun for me. My two longest days of the summer back to back. Feels great!
Khaaan!

Strictly charged me $12 for a regular tube. Never shopping there again. $6-7 is standard pricing at bike shops IMHO.
Yeah. I'm STRICTLY using them for their bathroom as taking water for free. Fuck those blood suckers.
Full credit to the OTHER Johnson brother, who reminded me of this (oddly appropriate) quote:

"One thing about livin' in Santa Carla I never could stomach. All the damn vampires."
I miss the two Corys.
The JP wormhole ride today was awesome. Next time I promise not listen to my inner hunger and down an entire ham & creamcheese bagel mid ride. I knew it was a bad idea deep down and still couldn't say no. Oh well, at least it tasted great ;) Appreciate JP, Owens & crew towing me up those climbs at the end when I suddenly hit my bagel-wall-of-death and ran out of gas. Just glad to be in the saddle again after my extended layoff.
Anyone fancy going up to Pawling this Saturday?  Thought it might be a nice change.  Would be fun to get a group

Very easy train journey from Grand central and an excellent change on one of the best race courses in the state.  Jeff and I did it last year and had a blast (before he shelled me on a descent.  Yep.  Dropped my going downhill?!?!?).

Think there's a CRCA old man race that day (oh forum calendar, I used you!).
@Adam that sounds really nice.  I might be up for that.  Could probably even offer a (one way) ride for folks interested.  I'll be headed straight for Boston afterwards.
Sounds fun.
That does sound fun. I love those descents.

i'll be upstate in dutchess county this weekend.

i'll either ride down there and meet you guys or . . . not meet you and ride MTB trails instead.

keep us posted here.
So, do we have a committed group for Saturday?  Would need to get the 745 am train from Grand Central.

I can call the LBS there, he was very helpful last time.  Let us change in his shop and might be able to leave our bags there...Also, might be able tog et some of the Pawling team out to keep us company and for some inter-team KOM contests.
Remember, CX folks, CX clinic on Saturday. Be ready for Nittany as the season kicks off.
Ahhhhh Fiddlesticks

i'm tempted by this pawling ride! even though I'm severely burned out from road cycling. I don't have my full setup for CX yet either.
CX is sooooooo 2009. But Adam, why do we need a shop to change in? I'm gonna wear Lycra the whole way.

What would woijchek do? Ride up there, hammer, then ride back.
Any interest in moving it to Sunday? It would allow people to do the CX clinic, and, unrelated, it would allow me to attend.
i would be interested, how long is the ride , i will probably drive and have room for 3 bike

oh schnap - i thought it said Sunday originally - yeah - please move Pawling ride to Sunday!
I third that
